Me and my wife played "Thank You" at our wedding, standing in a field at the base of the Grand Tetons in Wyoming 2 years ago.
Found this in an article about the song written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page: “shows the softer side of Robert Plant. Written for his wife at the time, Maureen, it says the heartfelt things that we often find difficult to express, and it came at a pivotal time for the band.”
This is likely Led Zeppelin's lamest song. Whenever I play this album, I make a point to skip it or just cover my ears and go La La La....
@@rbmtn4879 there is no Zeppelin lame song
I was just watching someone react to Stairway to Heaven. I recommend he listen to this. I've always said it would be my weeding song. One of Zeppelins best songs ever
@@rbmtn4879
Dude! 👈 speaking of lame!
@@TheRjpiper
I agree! I actually tell people that I love this song more than Stairway!
You passed the music listening abilities class with flying colors since you listened to this song through the fade out/in. Not everyone catches that. 👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Led Zeppelin has a ton of great songs!!
I used to sing this to my wife all the time. She passed away in 2020 and I can't hear it without sobbing. Thanks for appreciating how beautiful this song is. ❤
I have just lost my sweetheart and best friend this week, I am in pain, I feel yours. I hope at some stage it gets easier xxx
Same for me. My husband passed in 2014 and still makes me cry
This beautiful song is tricky at the end! Lol
But if you're a lifetime Zeppelin fan like me, you know when the song stops!
Thanks lovely lady for sharing!
“The Rain Song”….is equally beautiful!
Only the live version from "the song remains the same!"
Thank you for playing my requested Thank you! Our wedding song.😊… that is from Zeppelin’s second album in 1969 and Robert wrote it for his wife Maureen, who he had just married a few months earlier… Zeppelin is capable from the greatest love songs to the greatest lust songs! Which, in my opinion is what early rock ‘n’ roll was all about 😊… they have a WIDE range of styles, keep on digging!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@brittreacts 😊❤️👍
OMG I just text that it was the best wedding song ever
If you like this softer side of Led Zeppelin you should listen to "The Rain Song" and "Ten Years Gone". Great reaction!
And also "That's The Way".
"Tangerine"
Acoustic version of the Rain song w/ Plant and Page
ALL Led Zeppelin songs are great.
Robert Plant's wife ❤ one of my favorites. The song All of my Love written about his 5 year old son who passed away from a stomach virus while zeppelin was touring in the US is beautiful as well.
Thanks to modern-day feminism, few women will ever know what it's like to hear a man sing this song to them -- and actually mean it.
@@SingleTaxoh bullshit, I’m a feminist & no my husband didn’t sing it to me, but it is our wedding song & 39 years of marriage. Guess that’s why you’re single, stupid thinking like that.
Love this song!👍
Rain Song and 10 Years Gone should be your next Led Zeppelin reactions.
I second this
Great reaction as always Brit. Each song from Led Zeppelin is a different sound/style for the most part. Very versatile and creative band. John Bonham is considered the greatest drummer in rock..... period.
he and Ringo are the best ...they do what is needed at such a high level.
This song was the one we used for our first dance at our wedding. This was in 2003!
Best band ever led zeppelin
Too many people think that Led Zeppelin is a metal band, but they wrote absolutely fantastic acoustic songs.
Zeppelin does not have a sound. that is why we love them. GOAT
love that!
whenever new albums came out in the 70's...we'd all meet over at friends houses...get stoned....and listen to the entire album...usually more than once...good times..yeah.
I love Zepplin. Have since they first came out. I always thought it was a classy move when they announced they would no longer perform as Led Zepplin when their drummer, John Bonham, died in 1980 of alcohol poisoning.. Great talent that you picked up on so quickly.
Wonderful song. As always, great reaction from you. Zep had Jimmy as a brilliant guitarist and studio man, Robert Plant's amazing singing, John's drumming, and their man in the background, John Paul Jones, who played bass AND keyboards live, and any other instrument that may be laying around, was the man who played the organ on this tune. He was also a brilliant studio arranger, maybe more so than Jimmy. This band had it all and knew how to use it.
If you want to hear a different side of Bonham, the side most people associate him with, try "When the Levee Breaks," first recorded by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929 about the disastrous Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. Many levées were broken and states from Texas to Illinois were affected. Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas were the ones that suffered the most. It took three years for the water to fully subside. That and the Galveston hurricane of 1900 are the worst natural disasters that hit the US.
Jeepers, reckon I wrote a short history lesson. Anyway, John really worked up a sweat when he played drums on this one. Wore a bandana around his forehead even. You may want to give it a play. You'll love it.
As always, great song, great reaction.
Thanks for this. I always wondered where the inspiration for levee came from.
Correction John Bonham did NOT die from alcohol poisoning he died from choking on his vomit in his sleep after binge drinking the previous day.
live videos is what makes led zeppelin the gods they are
This was my wedding dance song
We played this before our wedding standing in a field at the base of the Grand Tetons in Wyoming.
Chris Cornell did a superb cover of this.
When you pour your soul into your craft.....this is the result. Nothing that can be replicated by editing, or autotune. Real connection, real emotion and real music.
Love this song by my favorite rock band. So glad you got to enjoy this! 😊
Mine too!
Robert Plant is a folkie by heart
My husband and I had this song in our wedding 35 years ago!
In My Time Of Dying is a masterpiece form Zep
Panning the sound is a favorite of mine especially with really good headphones, love you mentioned that
Inspiration is what you are to me.... inspiration come through me
It was for you!
I love the original and love Duran-Duran version too.
You should do the Kennedy Centers Honors for Led Zepplin. With Heart doing stairway to heaven. They have John Bonham's son Jason on the drums and he plays 1 of his fathers old studio kits and wears his fathers old baller hat.
First off TY for doing Thank you lol this song is incredible, Lemon Song is a must if you do more Zeppelin and want more of the funkier side of em
Beautiful ❤️🔥 absolutely beautiful ❤️🔥
agreed!
Led Zeppelin's drummer was John Bonham and he was pretty much universally regarded as the greatest rock drummer ever. I appreciate that you immediately recognized how great the drumming was for this track.
I've been listening to a lot of music from the 60s and 70s lately. Really a good mix of genres and styles. Have you ever heard Dusty Springfield? I recommend you check out her "Son of a Preacher Man" if you haven't already. I found a video of her singing that terrific tune on the Ed Sullivan show. She was the very picture of blue-eyed soul. Check it out.
Together we will laugh until the dawn
"tears of loves lost in the days gone by" is speaking about past failed relationships and the song is about being hopeful of their love for each other "if our love is strong for me there is no more, together we shall go until we die"
The end is genius, when you think its gone..........it comes back!! So good you didnt stop the song.
The part about rain on the window being tears of love lost in the years gone by was written by Jimmy Page. The rest was written by Robert Plant to thank his wife for supporting him when he was an unknown struggling musician just starting out. Jimmy may have been thinking of his own experiences in the part he wrote. The song 'Tangerine' written by him may refer to the same experiences.
2 other mellow Zeppelin songs you may want to check out:
Down By The Seaside
Ten Years Gone
My god listining to this song and looking at this beautiful women , ❤ thank you
John Paul Jones on the keyboard/bass. I'd suggest listening the one off supergroup Them Crooked Vultures he was in with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme back in 2010. Their song "New Fang" won a grammy for best hard rock performance.
They are genius
This song reminds me of the 1980 of my first girl friend her name was Cindy and than we drifted apart best band ever led zeppelin I still think of her up to today in 2024 I guess you never forget your first love ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of my favorites. The perfect wedding song.
This is why lz are the goat. One minute, they blow your face off, and the next, they tear your heart out
Many think of Zep as a wham-bam-thank-you-m'am rock band.....but they have a whole bunch of intriguing quieter songs, like this gem, in their incredible back catalogue. That was a cool reaction.👍
I always thought this was the counter point to the rest of the 2nd album.. Where this one was about the heights of love and the other songs chronicled a descent into the Blues.. The 2nd Album was a serious journey.
Great reaction You listen till the end
When I hear this song my wife of 24hr’s always comes to mind & my heart smiles
And the power ballad was born!
That whisper is genuine as it was written for his wife.
One of the best song I ever heard in my life!! ❤
Another great appreciation, Britt. This track has John Paul Jones front and centre with his bass and keyboard work. One of my very fave Zep tracks. More of their superb acoustic work on LZ III.
One of my favorite Zeppelin songs...sort of. The lyrics "If the sun refused to shine," and "When mountain crumble to the sea" appear word for word in the exact same order in the Jimi Hendrix song "If Six Was Nine." Interestingly, the phrases between these lines are completely different.
Nice reaction. I believe one of the most popular wedding songs ever.
Also "We've only just Begun."
As well
This is the greatest love song ever written. Robert wrote this for his wid
Fe.
Another of Led Zeppelin's softer (and beautiful) songs is "Rain Song".
Love song
Another lovely reaction, Britt. ❤
Zeppelin can really come at you from any angle.
As I understood it this is about if your love have some physical disorders. If the sun refuse to shine, if the mountains croumblies to the sea, I'll still be loving you. I have this experience and me and my love think that this is exactly what this about,
this was off their 2nd album, came out in 1969 and IMHO the best rock love long ever... 😀
Have all the albums. Played one time. Still have plastic on them.
@@terrygarcia897 so, In Through The Out Door has never been wet... cool!
@michaelbarnes4403 back in the early 70s when I started buying albums I would record them on cassette. Played one time still have plastic on them. I have a 140 albums like that.
Such an emotional song - JPJ puts a real finish on things
Our love is strong . Together we go on
"Going to California" That's a good one.
Wish I could one million like this react! You nailed it Britt 👌👍
Another great song by Led Zeppelin, that was beautifully covered by Tori Amos. Worth checking.
Another thing worth checking: the arrangements of When the Levee Breaks, by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, the way they were playing it on their 2022 Tour. Mesmerizing.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Another hard rock band from this era you may like is called The Who. Some of their top songs - Love, Reign o'er Me, Won't Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes
This is a new sound to you by Led Zeppelin because it's only the 2nd studio track you've actually listened to by them (the other being When the Levee Breaks). Please react to the studio versions of "Stairway to Heaven" and "Since I've Been Loving You". Yes, I know you've listened to the live versions, but I guarantee, the studio versions will be a completely new experience and will amaze you.
Peace
It's a Love song
THANK YOU 🙏
This is my favorite Led Zeppelin song
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of the best rockballads
4 masters of their craft.
Robert Plant-vocals, songwriter, Jimmy Page-guitar, producer, John Henry Bonham-drums and John Paul Jones-bass, mandolin, mellotron, piano, organ.
Thank You for reacting to Thank You. No pun intended. Love your reactions and comments. Please do more Zep. Robert Plant is an incredible vocalist along with guitarist Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones & the greatest drummer of all time John Bonham.
Dedicated to Robert Plant's wife, but inspired by the story Beren and Lúthien. The immortal lovers from JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion.
An author that sprang from the same well as Zeppelin, eternal in their Grace, gone but never forgotten.
The song from the last scene in the finale of True Blood
Hearing this reminds me of how much I love Chris Cornell's cover of this great tune
Yes this song is a tribute to his wife. The live that was lost was Robert's son the drown in the ocean (hence the Ocean). In a few songs he refers to his son as mountain. As lyrics say in this song(Thank You). So this song is all about his love for his wife and loss of his son
This is way after the fact, but Plant's son hadn't been born yet when this song was recorded in 1969. Karac was born in 1972 and died in 1977. This song is simply a love song to Plant's wife, Maureen and one of Robert's early attempts at being Zeppelin's lyricist.
quality band, sublime track, sweet that you had this on ya channel , nice one.
Saw Robert 2 times 1985 1988 Dallas. Stay well and groovy darling. Texas
It's john paul jones melatonin. It makes all different types of instrument sounds. Robert Plant lead vocals and harmonica Jimmy Page lead guitar and john bonzo Bonham drums. 4 talented musicians. The GOATS. There catalog is huge. This song reminds me so much of my late husband. Married 35 years.
Beautiful ballad...only Zeppelin could do it this good. This is one of the few songs where Jimmy sings harmony
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!!
Huge Zeppelin fan here... this song is in my top 5...easily!! Another great one is Ten Years Gone. Go there next
you're going down a rabbit hole with zeppelin and their lyrics.... A deep, deep, dark hole. the more you explore, the deeper you'll get and the harder to escape. listen to Kashmir, (the beat has been covered by so many others,) you'll be memorized
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
The name should tell you... it's a thank you for being in his life.
Robert plant was only 20 when he sang this. It was a song written by jimmy page.
thanks for the info! that is crazy only 20 years old?!!
It was for his wife Maureen, Robert Plant was married at 19 years old, hard to imagine.
IMHO John Bonham's best work is "In My Time of Dying". FrickN epic! Peace again!
HAMMER OF THE GODS......Peace!
I believe this is the first song that Robert Plant wrote by his self, Jimmy page, and Robert Plant, I believe had wrote all the songs together until this song. He wrote it for his wife because they lived apart a lot due to the intensive time away with the band. Thanking her for everything she does . They later divorced, but have always remained friends. After this song, I believe page felt. like plant
should write more songs. Himself So I believe plant did a majority of the writing after this.
Robert Plant the lead singer, lost his son in a very young age, and wrote a very beautiful song and tribute to him, called all of my love. You should check that one out it tugs on your heartstrings a little, so have your concealer catcher ready.
Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were asked why they never write love songs this was their response
The cool sound is call stereo, and yes that was John Paul Jones on organ, other keyboards and bass, no need for studio or guest musicians, they were all studio musicians themselves!
Zeppelin will always surprise you. If you like their softer side, I suggest Going to California, Tangerine and That's the Way. None of their songs sound the same. They went out of their way to explore music in general and were masters at it. If you'd like to hear the more bluegrass style, check out Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. It's a song about Robert Plant's dog.
Zeppelin is a deep, vast rabbit hole of every imaginable style and genre of music, from rock to blues to metal to ballads to funk to reggae to samba to country. If you think you know them, think again.
From what I've heard they are great!
@@brittreacts I encourage you to press on! Strong recommendations: Rain Song is an exquisite ballad.....so is Ten Years Gone. You also have: Fool in the Rain (samba), D'yer Maker (reggae), The Crunge (James Brown tribute funk). Good luck!
One of my favorite songs 🎵 ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
BABE I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU is ZEP that you will love,,,,,,of course studio version !!!
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
@@brittreacts Sorry i don't have TELEGRAM but my 2nd fave Zep is SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU,,,,,,studio version THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
