    The AR-15/M-4 series is one of the most reliable, accurate, and versatile options one has to defend himself and family. In this video, Reid discusses why he chooses this series of rifles. Topics covered include: options, applications, barrel length, and capabilities. If you are considering purchasing an AR-15, this video will help you make an informed decision. We didnt fight for our rights now we cant even get ammo for our registered pistols and we cant get even semi auto "grooved" rifles and whole prices for firearms set by goverment. In some parts of our country thats slowly starting to change, we have people who think like your government and want to take what we legally purchased, with a state law that can over night turn one into a criminal. Freedom is not free nor permanent unless one is willing to fight for it. We just had a midterm election in which my state turned Blue (dumbocrat libtard jackass blue) now our fight has truly begun, these laws come in various forms, one is "red flag laws" last week the cops in an other state killed a man because they came to take his guns and he did nothing wrong other than get into an argument with his sister and his sister called the cops to get even. his own sister even said he was harmless, now she has to live with the fact that she got her brother killed over a stupid unconstitutional law that many states are passing. America is rapidly moving towards your side of the fence and people here need to wake the fuck up.

      In the eyes of the globalists civilians are not even human. We are only seen as an expendable resource only meant to be exploited and they want to keep it that way. They do that by trying to regulate every single possible variable for us to not be 100% reliant on the system out of existence. This goes beyond firearms it is in other things such as most of the US it is illegal to collect rainwater and you are fined if you dig a big hole on your property and turn it into a small lake. The system goes out of it's way to try and domesticate us because in their eyes we are only cattle and not even human beings. The system needs us to survive however we do not need it to survive.

    • @xDXPxJOEx456x1
      @xDXPxJOEx456x1 5 лет назад +4

      The sks was the second gun I have ever bought, it is a 1952 soviet sks and I its a great shooter and very reliable and I love taking it to the range. However I am going to tell you as someone who has owned and shot an sks for years, I do not recommend it as a fighting gun at ALL. It is heavy and magazines for it generally are terrible even the standard 10 round box mag it comes with sucks because the follower is not anti tilt and non anti tilt IMO are a nogo. You realistically don't have a way to mount optics on it and stripper clips are much inferior option to just simply changing mags. There was a reason why the sks had such a short service life because the ak in general is a far superior option in every single way possible. The only real advantage the sks has over the ak is the bolt open which in reality is not that much of an advantage. I say that because it is nice to have bolt hold open but it really isn't necessary because you get yourself a well made gun you hear that click 99.9% that means its time to reload and out of aks the only issues I ever had with them period were failures to feed out of crappy magazines. Aks don't have bolt hold opens but neither does the g3 and many other Europeans guns. That was done on purpose to not get crap in the chamber when you run empty. I will say this though the sks is a great hunting rifle, I have taken a deer with it before and it is accurate for the caliber it fires. Fighting rifle though there are much better options out there my friend. @@jessesimmons9238

    • @xDXPxJOEx456x1
      @xDXPxJOEx456x1 5 лет назад +3

      Me well most aks when they are made properly are pretty much similar across the board. Quality wise I would say arsenal Krebs Saiga Molot Rifle dynamics Norinco and Valmets not particularly in that order are the best. I never tried out any of the new WBP fox rifles but they do look excellent. My first ak was the Wasr 10 and it is a good rifle. It will run to the end of time but I'm not gonna lie its a 4moa gun and its picky with mags. Most higher end aks have the same reliability and are a 2moa gun. I prefer stamped aks over milled because I do not think the extra durability is worth the extra weight offered by the milled. I think if you are gonna have only one ak get one in 7.62x39 because of the availability of guns in that caliber as well as magazines and ammunition. 5.45 and 5.56 are pretty much the same round in a practical sense, I do like 5.45 but I would recommend 5.56 over it because it is much more available. The aks I own are a arsenal slr 107 and a Rifle dynamics ak74m made from a Russian parts kit. I want to get a WBP fox gun when it comes back in stock. all in all though you generally wont have any problems with aks unless its out of spec crap like a ras47 or anything made by I.0. @@Joe_Friday

    In the case of home invasion, its not only the 30 rd capacity thats an advantage, but also penetrating soft armor. Police are reporting that home invaders are even going as far as wearing class 3a body armor which will stop all your common pistol rounds. So a 556/223 or any intermediate Rifle round is the way to go for home defense. Handguns are only good as a backup/secondary weapon or conceal carry.

    Another great thing about the AR platform is the fact that you can have quite a few uppers chambered in different calibers and quickly swap em out with the press of two pins. I mean 7.62x39, .300AAC, 6.5 Grendel, .223, 5.56 just to name a few, and even pistol calibers with a mag well adapter.

    Not to mention, that if you want something with a little punch. All you have to do is buy an upper, anything from .300 blackout, .458 SOCOM, even .50 Beowulf. All with the same magazines. I'm using a .458 SOCOM for home defense now with the 450gr hollow point, loaded down to 900 fps with a suppressor. I've also taken LARGE hogs and all of them were one shot stops. But I also have a 5.56 and .300 blackout as well. Great video as usual, Semper Fi.

    In the process of consulting on a greaseless gun project, I fired M4s over 6000 rounds dry, and half the mags were fired with a suppressor.
    The bolt carrier group was coated with a proprietary coating. Minor cleaning of the bolt carrier group was done every 1200 rounds.
    ARs need a little break-in also. Not a lot, but some. It depends a lot on the finish left by the machine tools on certain surfaces.

    I like Aimpoint, good solid optic. But I chose Primary Arms 2x prism optic. You can look and shoot with both eyes open. Can get on target faster using both eyes. It’s built solid too. Nice to have a little magnification at all times to help you see your target better. I have a stigmatism so this choice helps me see perfect with the diopter on the optic.

    Good video. My go to home defense gun is the Ruger SR556 with a Holsun HS403C Red Dot and a white light. Yes, I also have flip-up irons. My home defense round is the 40gr Fiocchi V-Max polymer tipped varmint round. This is a piston drive AR so when I get a can I can adjust the piston for it. I also have a Colt M4 Blackhawk with a similar setup, but I don't plan to put a can on it.

    I prefer the AR15/M4 series of defensive rifles/carbines because there isn't anything better. Eugene Stoner/Jim Sullivan created a near prefect fighting rifle. England just adopted an AR variant in the KAC KS-1 or as they have designated it, the L403A1. The Canadians, French, Dutch, Americans, Estonians, British and many others have chosen the AR platform as their mainstay defacto combat rifles/carbines. Patton would definitely change his mind on the M1 Garand to the AR as "The greatest battle implement ever devised" as far as smallarms are concerned.

    The 5.56 round varies with bullet weight and design. Steel tip can be very effective for penetration. For indoor home defense, just good old 55gr American eagle will do good without being overkill. You have many choices for different duties.

  • @Mockturtlesoup1

    I love AKs like I love FALs, M14s, G3s, etc., but when it comes to self/home defense(or even running drills, shooting long(er) range, etc.) the AR just feels like an extension of my body, with everything right where it should be(and that's as a lefty/left eye dominant person, running ambi lowers for the most part.)
    I agree the AK is simple, and it's just a cool gun(and an iconic piece of history), but to me, the AK is like the old American muscle cars of the 60s and 70s, whereas the AR, especially a really nice, modern, high quality, suppressed AR, is more like a modern, efficient, good handling sports car.

    Great points, but I think you slightly understated one of them. People regurgitate 4th hand war tales about the 5.56 failing to stop an enemy soldier without a half dozen hits. This has given the round a reputation for being a “poodle shooter” etc. What they are either intentionally, or due to lack of knowledge, leaving out, is that the fmj 5.56 rounds were designed to work out of 20” barrels. The current issue M4s are what 14” and shorter? The m855 won’t yaw and tumble reliably when pushed out of a short barrel, making it very ineffective. The xm193 steel cores are designed to punch through barriers, so I doubt they will tumble out of any barrel length. The point you made is that 5.56/.223 comes in a wide variety of ammo choices. A good home defense round is not going to be dependent on a super high velocity, and will do massive tissue damage when it expands/shatters (depending on what type of round you picked). Shot placement is priority #1, but bullet selection is a close #2, and the home defense options for 5.56/.223 are far more plentiful than they are for any other rifle cartridge that I know of.

    Reid, I keep an M4 for home defense also, but inside the home I keep it ready to rock with a frangible ammunition. What is your opinion of using frangible for home defense? The reason I chose the frangible is because I have other people in my home in various rooms, and if for some reason one of my shots does not hit its intended target I don’t want the round to penetrate several rooms or even exit the structure of my home. I don’t know how the penetration tests were done that you referred to in this video, but in my experience I have seen .223 rounds penetrate and exit through 10 or more layers of standing plywood. I have a hard time believing that a few layers of sheet rock and 2x4’s are going to significantly slow down a .223 round.

    I used to think the AR was an unreliable piece of junk based on what I read on the internet. I owned several AK’s and my beloved Vz.58 but kept being frustrated by overall poor accuracy at distance. Then I bought an AR and haven’t turned back. I couldn’t make it fail and it hit at distance MUCH more consistently than AK’s and my Vz.58. I do acknowledge that the 5.56x45 is a more anemic round than 7.62x39...so I got a 6.5 Grendel! No one can scoff at 6.5 Grendel’s energy and efficiency in a small package. I’ve not shot a CZ Bren or a SCAR so I’d be curious to compare them to an AR, but theses rifles don’t have chamberings in 6.5 Grendel so I’ll have to wait (And Handl defense’s SCAR-17 6.5 Grendel conversion doesn’t count. Why would I want an 8# 6.5 Grendel?).

      How is 5.56 a much more anemic round than the 7.62x39? It has 85% of the muzzle energy and often does far more damage due to the velocity.

      @Richard-wz9uh 5 лет назад

      asdfghjk Don’t take my word for it. Take the word of innumerable soldiers who have begged for a better round. From those complaints we have better rounds for the AR-15.

    • @asdfghjk2933
      @asdfghjk2933 5 лет назад

      Richard and we do have a better round (in 5.56). It's called m855a1. I've yet to hear any complaints about the terminal effectiveness of that round. Not to mention it has armor penetrating capabilities that 7.62x39 or 6.5G can't touch.

    • @Richard-wz9uh
      @Richard-wz9uh 5 лет назад

      asdfghjk No question M855A1 is super legit. No question. Good luck finding that round as a civilian though. For me and my civilian self I’ll stick with a better cartridge that isn’t rare as a moon rock. For me it’s 6.5 Grendel all the way. No one can argue it’s internal, external and terminal ballistic superiority over 5.56 in every way. There is literally no downside to 6.5 Grendel other than a standard mag holding a few rounds less than 5.56.
