Good stuff mate. In private small group training sessions I work athletes for 15-18 mins on ladders (25% on the ball/ladder) before we get to touch work. Over a ten week block the speed increase on ladders and in 1v1 play/touches is enormous. Big believer in speed/agility work. Love your content Joner. Top class.
as a coach in the US i cant get more than maybe 5 mins on a ladder without a ball and maybe another 5 with a ball.........MAYBE!.............theres nothing about it that is "interesting, or evicting" to young players who havent seen videos of pros using them.......and even then.....they lose interest super fast unless they are playing tp tier club ball...and even then they seem to only do it because they know they HAVE to.....when they reach about 14-16,they know its work they need....but before they reach that age and maturity in the game, i find myself cutting ladder drills early all the time......
@Oscar Martinez i guess that's the crux of my question ....how do you make it interesting for young kiddos on their own of that same age?....in a small group setting (4-6...or even team practice for younger squads) i would most definitely structure the sets as a relay race of sorts...young players love racing and competing with one another in that "short-term" fashion.....i suppose the goal is to figure out how to make that one player, working on their own, see that their "doing the same thing just in the long-term"...thanks for the advice Coach!
Ladder drills have been essential for my son. He's been doing them since he was 6 and now at 13 he is lightning quick, is light on his feet and has great balance. Love the drills!
Hey, I've been training my 9 years old to your method for a couple of months now. The training helped him step up his game and feel more confident on the pitch. Naturally, he is a fast kid but your method helped with his coordination and confidence. Thank you Mate!
I love your videos. I always follow them. I have one challenge for you. Normally you have really good players participating in your videos and doing the exercises. I would like to see you coaching a player that is not so great and see the process of how you can improve his skills.
We have done many of them videos. However the RUclips is normally a reward for our players that train with us regularly... maybe I need to start videoing them the second they come to us
Hi from Russia! Your trainings really unbelievable, thank u , bro ! You’re my close friend and yours exercises help us to improve training process! Thank u ! Agility is one of the most important thing , in my opinion ! It’s really necessary to use training ladder and other equipment to improve our football skills . I use it from U6 to u16 ~ 12-20 minutes without and with ball !
Sir, True about the female professional working on speed and agility on just that on aspect for all players. If I may, think back when or if you were in camp. Some of us went did what we were told and didn't really grasp the most of of it. My recommendation is focus on the top comment. Bring an extra person some who wants to give back. And take time in camp to take a student one on one on the side during each session. Constantly changing players. That's money... building confidence, honing in to those who have more heart than skill. (Which could be learned) And being remembered for making a difference with each player, which is a beautiful thing. Knowing that knowledge doesn't just stop there but their players or kids or future coaching of teams... That's unique and powerful
Hay there thank you for sharing your drill my daughter she is 14years old I tool her for drill but I don't have much tip but after seeing this video I am so happy now. Please keep updating us with your dill idea ⚽💯👍
Your videos are really great, but please, Juniper, I want the link of the music used in the first video, because it is really great, and you made a good choice.
I need some help with 10u girls and the proper way of kicking power shots plz help me I’m a dad coach and I’m really not a coach but I’m trying to help this team so any advice is helpful
Hey bro'"! I also a coach and I like to watch your sessions, but, sorry, not always to the end ))) But why you I say in this video: "...I believe... It looks like: I believe that my method will work and somebody will play much better after my trainings... I think you already have the players who play better. So, it's not I believe, but : I know!!! What if you will show in the next any video the result of these trainings - somebody who plays the match?
I do not believe that ladder drills improve speed or agility. They are great however to create habits (pass & move) and to pass the ball under pressure.
@@JonerFootball Sorry, I need to differentiate a bit: True, at a young age everything increases speed & agility, but at a older age studies show that agility mostly happens in the brain. The speed ladder is still a great tool for building soccer specific endurance.
@@JonerFootball No critique at anything you do though. You are the best 1 on 1 coach I know. Wish you'd be coming to the Carolinas I'd sign my kids up for you asap.
I do not disagree or agree with the ladders. Ladders are not what actually give you fast feet, you can get the same results without them. Take the ladders away, do the same movemnets it is the same thing. Ladders give you somewhere to identify where to plant your feet. I do 100s of 1on1s a year, rarely use ladders, but work on fast feet in every session. As I said Joner, nothing wrong with using ladders either, anyone that says they are a waste of time is probably from the "let them play" brigade.
David Williams totally agree mate .... we do a lot of that too. We don’t use the ladders all the time. I feel like using them gives them a better sense of direction & co ordination .

that's good to know! My son has bad running form, was born un-athletic, and we are using ladder drills to try to change/help this.
