Yes, I know that. I just really like this song.
Justin's voice was and still is amazing but there was something different about it in his earlier years. Youth makes skin softer and smiles brighter so that and his little British accent could have made the difference.
@UCsqoq4OatDiaHsHwwmeo0bQ A similar comment caused an argument in a Blue October group because others intrepretted it to mean Justin's music and lyrics were better when he was using drugs. I want to make it clear that I am not even implying Justin wrote or performed better when he used drugs. It's impossible to deny that many songs written and recorded during that time were and will always be some of Blue October's greatest hits.
Justin's voice is a different sybject and I agree that it's changed. Age can be a factor but doesn't affect everyone. He obviously had his teeth straightened and that's when the change first became noticeable.
I miss the unique and powerful way he used to sing random words or sounds that showed off the notes his voice was able to reach. Some were a release of emotions that it's better for him not to have but they made his style unique.
Since Covid-19 started, Justin has been doing a lot of acoustic versions of old and new Blue October and cover songs that sound too much alike: mostly like love songs. The rhythm is slow, rarely up beat and there's no real opportunity for his voice to go where it used to. It's hard to determine whether his voice is no longer capable of going where it used to or if he just hasn't felt the urge to let it all out.
