i remember my mom playing this in the car all the time growing up, and she'd tear up every time. i asked her about it once and she told me the lyrics reminded her of her brother that committed suicide. the last time she ever saw him, she was trying to take him back to a rehabilitation center; he got out of her truck on the highway and refused to get back in, not wanting to go back again. they were both yelling and cursing and crying before she eventually had to leave him there. that was the last time she ever saw him, as he ended his life that very night before they could make amends. the line "ill show you the the road / that i led you the wrong way on" will forever hit a nerve when i hear this song. rest in peace, uncle dale. addiction is a nasty thing.

He[Justin the lead singer] also has a band called Harvard of the south: miracle and there's another really good one that I cant think of the name of. But H.O.A only has like 6 songs that I've heard or seen on youtube
He does a cover of: lady in red. That's kick ass too. But I honestly love them all 18th floor balcony is another. tip his songs seriously are reflections of his mindset and feelings while he wrote them so his early songs are pretty dark like: black orchard and the worry list: and as he heals and progresses the songs get more positive like: fear, miracles and home

I'm one of those insufferable Tool fans that say nothing is good as Tool but after listening to two Blue October Albums for the first time today and almost crying I just have to say, I was wrong. Blue October is amazing and I really related to his music

I was just told about this band by someone recovering from awful addiction. While I do not share the same addictions, I was surprised that I share the same pain and we understood each other instantly at a deep level. Then, tonight they sent me the song “Fear” and I cried so hard. It was like a part of me that hadn’t been addressed since 15 years ago in college ministry just busted through and was like, you have unresolved issues and I freaking understand your humanity. This band is gritty and real and also as a nice surprise includes violin that I love so much and perhaps in a certain few songs, feels vertically influenced which I also love. I wish I could listen all the time but I would cry too much. It will be good as therapy.
That moment you realized listening to music was more than just talking to somebody about your hell because the songs don't ask nor pry they understand and you understand that's all you needed for a saving.
Totally agree. I used to be big time into rap and then one day I realized it was fake and cheap and I really got into music with meaning like this, something that touches your soul ya know?
