Mercedes W212 | Special Method To Drain All Engine Oil

- How to change engine oil and filter with the special method. This way you get 0.5 liters more out from the engine. This is done on my Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 E220 (OM651) engine. The normal fill level is 6.5 liter and with this method the new fil level is 7 liter.
This is also the classic way to change oil without any fancy tools or car lift. But is also good you have time to check for possible oil leaks you probably not would se with the oil suction method.

This is a little obsessive. Who has time for this method? A little used oil left behind especially synthetic oil is of no consequence with today’s modern oils and oil filters. More importantly is to fix your oil leak. There’s oil everywhere under that engine. Good video, thanks for posting. Cheers!
I know this Assyst service system is confusing, but is much more easy to understand if you enter service menu and then check exactly which service it want (4:20)
Service 1 basic inspection
Service 3 engine oil + filter
Service 8 air filter
Service 11 fuel filter.
Sometimes service 8 is diff oil but that’s depend on which W212 model you have. You can check service sheet book and then decode this really easy. So don’t bother about the normal service menu with A, B1 etc is just confusing.
After the oil change at home, I press "OK" and "accept a phone call" to access the service reminder: There, my S212 calls Mercedes on its own to make an appointment because I still have one or two screws left I can't find where... 😄

Good method, gravity drain is best. Waiting a long time can eliminate a maximum of oil, the service is only better. Good job!

I've done both methods, and found the sucky method leaves about 4 oz in the pan. That doesn't justify using the drain plug again in my view. I'll stick with the sucky method. Love the videos.
Your oil cooler is leaking, or just the oil filter housing...Common issue on om651

I use my oil extractor and pump all the oil from the dip stick. Takes 10 mins to change my oil and filter! No need to go under the car anymore.
100%. One of the best features of Mercedes is not going under the car to change the oil.

That is such a pain taking all those access panels off, one would think the brains of mercedes design would have made it simpler by putting a small cover to gain access, I have to use the other method for oil service. Thanks for the video.
Yess is a bit annoying. I guess that’s also work most mechanics use the suction method.
I do both ways depending on service... if im inspecting something onderneath, Ill take off panels... on my land rover i just took panel off and chunked it since I need to see where all the leaks are always coming from lol @@MB212

You can also use an oil extractor to suck all the oil out through the dipstick tube, no need to go under the car. That is how they do it at the dealership
Yess understand, but pretty sure you not get this 0.5 extra out from it because take some time for the oil to drip from all gears etc.
You can continue using your oil extractor. We like going underneath our cars🍺
I use a topside for my oil changes, makes it a lot easier..

Suck up the oil from the dipstick. No reason to ever go under the car to change the oil. I use an inexpensive 12v fluid extractor or the hand pump extractor works. Can either stick the tube all the way down or use the dipstick as the tube, just seal it off. I bought a rubber stopper at the hardware store and drilled a hole in the middle to fit the end of the suction tube it just plug off the top of the dipstick and turn the pump on, few minutes later all the oils sucked up.
Yah do this trick if you want to brake the engine 👍

In your operators manual under "Power Windows" will tell you how to reset Express opening and closing. Have to synchronize everything again.
ATTENTION BEWARE…I broke my oil pan trying to brake the drain plug free…Cost me €800. The lower part of the oil pan is made of plastic.

@@MB212 The oil has been extracted in all services since new. I found out, after it broke, that Mercedes use the extraction method. Well, I like old school, too, but it came with a hefty price….

Try going into the engineering menu. Center console press and hold "Red Phone Button" + "1" + "#". After a few seconds the center screen should enter another menu. Use the round knob in the middle to move through the menu

I was just looking and think carplay came with 2016 models and up. May want to look in your owners manual in the Audio System section. Mine has it in the Bluetooth settings.

SPECIAL WAY IS……How about buying 2x the oil and doing a flush … release all oil… refill. Release again… catch the oil run it through again!!! Then plug oil pan… run engine, turn off and release all oil… sit over night. Then use the new oil to do a regular refill. And you have successfully flushed the engine
How Can open rear seat
if your W212 has the rear folding seats option then you'll see two handle pulls inside cargo area.
The best method is to check the massive oil leak and after that change the oil in a service station. its faster and uncomolicated

What is your engine oil change interval?
I usually following the recommendation 1 year / 25000 km but in this case it was bit overdue. But I don’t worry to much!

Skulle jag inte direkt säga förutom när motorn gav upp men i övrigt vad jag väldigt imponerad hur bra den gick och hur allt annat var i skick med tanke på nästan 600.000 km

Låter inte dumt, milen är inget att direkt oroa sig över om den är servad regelbundet. Inte märkt av någon rost o anmärka på mina, men tyvärr har vissa rost i bakaxlar då de var nå produktionsfel…

Engine bay looks mint 😆 I hate it also but video all things and still wait for my friend doing the clean and I going to video it. That’s why is not have been done since I bought the car.

Oh man that car is filthy. I was waiting to learn something new but instead watched the longest Mercedes oil change. One of the best features of my Mercedes is I dont have to go under the car to change the oil, just suck it up from the dipstick with electric pump. Theres something leaking in that car, should fix it.
Yah is a old taxi, is best way to remove the oil, keep use your pump to take oil you but soon the engine going to brake but is your choice because you go the easy way.
This car have bad oil leaks.
Actually is not as bad as you may think. I don’t think it ever been cleaned and the car are at 570.000 km right now!
@@MB212 Mercedes engines are dry engines, it is not normal to have liquid leaks, whatever they are. It is necessary to seek the origin of the leak(s) because problems can arise and be very expensive.
Ofc but is could look more worse then it is because of the long run it has go probably with this leak, and not had any wash before. I just mean is not any pile of oil under the car every morning ; )

Im so sorry bra beacause i was pitted about it there was a screw popped Off in the plastic air pipe on cylinder head i got same with 205 hp it was okay but a year later bought c350 CDI so i like more got a little Bit too much power for little c class around620 nm crazy shit
