Oh my goodness y'all . Thanks for all the love and the views and the subs and the encouragement . Sadly some things are happening at my house right now . I'm down sizing big time. Doing all I can to save this car and my kids dart . I sold the challenger the other day and some of my other projects. May sell the duster soon too to be able to save my kids car. But my dad is giving me out next project car . " hint it's not a mopar " lol . We appreciate you all so much . This video alone may be what gets us monetized . So thank you and God bless y'all
So sorry to hear about all the problems you experienced with your Duster... My dad had one, same year as yours, and the same color blue.. Basically the same color interior with the same rubber mats.. But his had a 318 2bbl carb and automatic transmission... The body was in good shape but paint was faded pretty bad.. One day he got ready to go to work and it wouldn't start.. We discovered it had jumped time and he didn't want to put any money 💰 in the car to fix it, so he sold it for scrap... 35.00... I wished many times I had bought it from him, but I already had 2 cars... Sad story, because it probably got crushed.. I enjoyed your story.. Take care my friend..
A beautiful car with a beautiful engine. The 198 Slant-6 is pretty rare, but not as rare as the aluminum-block Slant-6. For performance, it would lend itself to a nice rebuild and a turbocharged EFI setup some day. Remember that the Buick Grand National is not all that different in displacement from a 225 Slant-6, and the Buick 231 V6 is an awesome engine in its own right - but not nearly as awesome as the Slant-6. I have seen Slant-6 A-body cars run 9 seconds on the 1/4 mile. Take good care of that thing. :)
Johnny. I'm curious about the gas filler cap on the duster. Where did you get it ? Is it aftermarket or did it come on the car? I'm looking for something like that to put on my 74 Dart?
Great video! love to get that chrome fuel cap for my 73 Duster. Can you share where you got it, how much, and does it just screw on like the original? Thanks
Same here brother my dad's was red but the black racing stripes had the demon on the side with the little twisting tornado and it was fast as hell I remember he used to take me out he'd stop at a red light launch into it and yank the front tires off the ground I would laugh and giggle and tell him to go faster I did the same to mind when I bought one but then life whips your ass and you lose those things that's the biggest loss of my life is losing my 71 Plymouth duster 440 with a six pack black on black I miss that car so much I miss my dad's more
I'm digging it, a lot. It's a shame that the car was a 225 slant...but it is a real survivor with that low of mileage that will probably outlive us all. Having dealt with big tube headers on a V8 in my first gen Mustang..the idea of a little engine in a big bay seems awesome I've got my eye on a decrepit 72' Duster at a buddy's place that I hope to give a lower budget rebuild like this one. Thanks for the post and keep it on the road!
@@greysgarage7020 so you still using slant 6 in this car? and if you are why . if i had a car like that v6 would really bother me big time, i wouldn't car that v6 give me 50 miles a gallon and i would get a nice v8 340-440 over getting a new paint job
Takes practice to get the paint ratio right to spray outdoors. Paint early evening to getting less bugs. Should have sprayed a flat grey around the outer hoop of the grill. Looks good ... enjoy it!
Makes me sick to see Dusters, Darts, etc. going for Charger, Challenger type prices. Stupid! I had a 73 Duster and was looking for one I could build now that I can afford a few more things, started looking around a bit and was blown away!
you trying to tell me AMD didn't have a hood for that car . pretty much AMD have everything in sheet metal for Mopar cars, unless this guy didn't want to pay top money for a hood cuz AMD isn't cheap
It doesn't make any sense not to sell any Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge and Ford products. The most of the Fords I saw are totally useless ones, Late 70s Thunderbirds, Ford Elite, Ford LTD and Ford pickups that are mostly rusted away. There must be every model of LTD that Barnaby Jones drove and Pintos that were on the show.
According to Babvvo and Tebbvo laws, sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!
Love the story of your endeaver making your dream car work. I absolutely love Dusters. I have a 75 and cannot wait to get to driving it soon

Here cause I’m always 👀 Facebook marketplace.
You need a 340 in the old duster, I got one

Now it needs a hot small block
Seen one Torino and Mustang, seen them all. Now at 12:45 the Chevrolet Wagon would make a nice ride.
You don't like it , I'll take it !
I want it!…..lol

ill be trying to paint our next few cars soon.
just sold my 70 Plymouth duster looking for my next Duster
eBay , need to look for repop charger gas cap , and a A body adapter . they vary in price. I go cheapest one because I'm cheap.
Do you have info on the one you just sold...maybe a link where you had it listed, with pics & all?
I didn't sell one , you mean my cars I had back in early 2000s?
Makes me sick to see Dusters, Darts, etc. going for Charger, Challenger type prices. Stupid! I had a 73 Duster and was looking for one I could build now that I can afford a few more things, started looking around a bit and was blown away!
Hi love your car I have a 73 duster 340 I would love to see your car at the local hangouts
Your missing the 340

It's time to educate ourselves in making our own gas, and tell the establishment to shove it up their a**...
Cheapest crap gives you crap
