I cannot wait to try the soup! I often use cashews to make sauces creamy without dairy, but haven't tried it with soup. Thanks for the ideas and another lovely video. 💕
I was delighted to see a tapioca pudding recipe. My three generation family favourite, fruit tapioca, is a rather more calorific version, served in a sizeable cut glass bowl. The seed tapioca (smaller than the larger "frogspawn" variety - much despised here in the UK in it's manifestation in mid 20th century
school dinners), is first cooked together with the milk (1.5pts), thinly pared lemon rind and sugar, then removed from the heat when the yolks of two eggs are beaten in, together with a
knob of butter. The egg whites are then whipped to stiff peaks and folded into the mixture creating a souffle like texture
This is piled onto colourful stewed fruit already in the glass bowl; any kind of red/purple plums, apricots or even rhubarb paired with raspberries are best.
The courgette (zucchini)soup sounds really alluring. Unlike the rest of Europe the UK after a lovely, very dry period early on is having a miserably wet, cold and windy summer but it means that courgettes are in abundance and cheap, so that is definitely on the menu.
I do admire the way that you make a real ceremony of your meals, real love feasts, an attitude
toward food which had been hard won in contrast to the vast array
of, in many cases today, over processed foodstuffs available today. The civilising effect of sitting round a table, enjoying the food and engaging in proper conversation, on children is vital.
