I would use a 3M Scotch-Brite Roloc Bristle Disc, it's a green disc vs that wire wheel. I'm a prior GM tech, but every tech has their own way of doing things. I'm not a big fan of wire wheel on heads, upper or lower intake/ aluminum surfaces, water pumps and so on. The 3M scotch bristle is way less abrasive/ damaging vs a wire wheel and it cleans the surfaces as affective as a wire wheel in my experience.
Do you have to install the rocker arms after you put the chains back? If I bleed the lifters and install them on the cylinder head and then put the cylinder head back would that be okay? Thanks
thank you for making the videos, I've only worked on Toyota engines and I always coated the head gaskets with permatec head gasket adhesive, was wondering if I should coat the gasket for the 4.7l Dodge or not? Do you use any liquid or spray on type head gasket tack when you replace Dodge head gaskets?
The 2002 dodge ram came with the 5.9L engine before the 5.7L hemi was released into production, so find on of those trucks in a junk hard for conversation parts, the 5.2 and 5.9 engine are basically the same engine, I wanted to do the same thing on a 2006 durango which never came factory with a LA style engine
yes, I did the same thing, carefully put just a dab of JB Weld on the bolt and hold it in place , I also wrapped some thin cardboard around it to keep it center I removed the head first. (I used the 10 minute set, 4 to 6 hour cure), let it cure and mine twisted out with just my fingers.
Great job explaining step by step! Thank you for taking the time to show everything involved.

How many miles were on the engine?

Could the 5.2 v8 from 1998 magnum, be installed in a 2005 ram 1500 instead of 4.7?
Im interested in swapping engines also. I think you have to swap the engine wiring and the engine computer also, but I’m not sure if that is all.
