  • Our Department believes officers should maintain good health and fitness and requires annual testing. Officers are provided opportunities to train in a fully equipped onsite gym to meet their goals. It helps when you're running after bad guys, jumping fences, all while talking on the radio and wearing at least 20 lbs. of gear. The benefits can be seen in this video during a foot chase and subsequent capture of two suspected burglars early this morning. Richardson Police responded to a business alarm in the 800 block of S. Greenville Avenue just after 2:15 a.m. on 10/31/22. The first officer to arrive observed a shattered window at the location and then saw a person wearing a ski mask walk around the corner of the business. The man immediately started running when told to stop. The officer, along with additional responding officers, chased the suspect and captured him. A second suspect walking away from the area was detained and during the ensuing investigation, it was determined he was in possession of stolen property taken during the burglary. Great work by patrol officers. The suspects face charges of Burglary of a Building, a state jail felony and one suspect will be additionally charged with Evading Arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
