It's a big shame you can't just use your hooks, peg legs, hats, and maybe even beards with the skelly curse, they seem like they'd be easy to implement as long as they don't overlap with other unique skeleton cosmetics.
I have a feeling rare might implement support for some of the easier cosmetics with the skeleton curse. Maybe drip feed a new cosmetic type with each update for example. It shouldn't be too much work and it would give the skele curse a lot more customisation possibilities
Just dumb. I'm sure most players have experienced the skele glitch for years now. That is the default skin in the code, your characters model is then loaded over that. Why they choose to code the way they do is baffling to anyone with basic coding knowledge.
My main issue right now is even the "normal" clothes we do have, in particular the skirt are locked behind massive commendations for the reward, I love having cosmetics to show of buut I think it should be something a little more extravagant then 'cool here's a skirt that all regular pirates can essentially get from the clothing store', I hope we see some more of these 'normal' cosmetics buuut available as soon as you obtain the curse not with additional potential hours of work
I just wanted more personality to the skeleton curse and more stuff similar to what skeletons actually wear like the bounty captains and the skeleton lords
I think Rare should start by allowing new clothes and costumes to be useable by the curse especially because some of the clothes probably already work with the skeleton so why not just start whitelisting clothes and slowly rework clothes from the most popular to the least popular so there is at least SOME costumisation possibilities Let me at least change the skeleton skin I use on the skeleton based cosmetics that could be somewhat cool at least... I was even more annoyed when the ORB was showing and WE SAW A REAPER PJ SKELETON LIKE AT LEAST ADD THAT AS A BONUS AT 100
@@kiro-fo9qgI'd honestly use neither The only curse I would probably ever use is the gold curse for my gold horder outfit. But I don't know if I have the mental fortitude to get it. The ghost curse is fine definitely better than the skeleton curse The skeleton curse has too little customisation. The Athena curse has lots of uses. Pirate lord and Merick cosplayers can finally look a lot closer to the real thing
The skeleton curse really disappointed me because I was so hyped that I could turn my pirate into a skeleton just for the curse to be bare bones (no pun intended). They could’ve at least let us keep our beards or hats, in the end of the day ghost curse better.
Honestly even with the limited customization, I still like the skeleton curse way more than ghost. Infact fuck tht ghost captain man that says it's not about the gold, but the journey. I'm in this game for mountains of glorious riches
I really think they going to add a component to the character, that doesn't allow light to effect anything in its radius. That way, clothing wouldn't be seethrough. Or they will make a script that can make an average color, that could color in the missing mesh I do think they are going to fix this. The skeleton part might just be something to start with, and play around, till they fix this. Its totally fixable, even if they cut some corners (like the shade component I said). Sure, the bone pieces would get in the way, but they could just flag that "with this, skeleton piece, you cant wear jackets"
Honestly I could see rare noticing the problem and are currently slowly updating cosmetics so everything that’s newly released can work which wouldn’t be that hard I mean adding an inside texture to new jackets it’s just old stuff which I think can be slowly updated in waves in a sense of prorities 1. Emporium stuff 2. Plunder pass items 3. Earnable rewards from events and quest 4. Emissary rewards 5. Purchaseable items that require certain milestones 6. Dubloon items 7. Normal gold items so I could see all new stuff more easily being done to work and as time can go on they get better and faster at it I mean I could see 2-4 people updating items as a small team i mean they fix old items first then do skeleton stuff also I think that some stuff that skeleton already wear will take more effect it would just make sense and all of its quality of life in a sense it’s just they slowly add stuff from the past while everything new will work to me an analogy would be Xbox backwards compatibility I mean they already have new stuff able to work on it but slowly make old games and all able to work on it and by demand and i also think by ease and age which would work well maybe on the website you sign in with your account and if you have the curse you can suggest something and whatever has the most votes gets done first alsong side the stuff on their priority list
@@AShinyRay oh fuck me that would’ve kept me grinding so much harder. Just imagine how sick it would’ve been to have that jacket and scarf but with the bearded skull and crimson bones 😮
i feel the best thing to do is to port at least the reaper themed stuff into having a humman and skeleton version so both flamehearts hats their jackets whenever those get released the reaper costume and the cursed bone set (those 2 might just have to be brand new cosmetics but just look like the ones for hummans) it wouldnt be perfect but the essentials would be there
i think a quick short term fix would be a cursed skeleton hand which could be in the hook slot showing on your regular pirate that you have the Skeleton curse and can flex and still wear the normal cosmetics (short term fix this wouldnt inheritly resolve any of the issues stated rare NEEDS to work on this curse but that will take a time and a skeleton hand to flex with in the interim would be a nice addition and shouldnt take too much work)
I’d say it’s probably a little much to ask for the entire game’s cosmetic collection to be accommodated to the skeleton curse. I think the best solution would be for waves of skeleton curse cosmetics to make it to the game over time. Let’s use some more of that concept art Rare!
it's not 'a little much' to anticipate game devs to do their jobs. every other skeleton in this game gets to wear normal clothes, don't excuse rare for being lazy.
@@sleebs7814 yes because they've made those specific clothes compatible with the specific skeleton model. It's a lot more work to make every cosmetic in the game compatible with every variation of skeleton model the player can have.
@@Ryan-ct3rv im not saying it's exactly the same, all i'm saying is it's a little unfair that every other skeleton npc gets to wear clothing, but when players get the option it's literally less than bare-bones.
something they could possibly do is give the servants of flame a second curse unlocked soon after the skeleton one that's basically a reaper equivalent of the Pirate Legend curse, where it's the same effect as the full body version but condensed into a small area like just a skeleton hand or something of the sort, maybe with a burning reaper's mark brand on the chest aswell if they really wanted to push into the idea of it being a reaper version of the pirate legend curse. this would both give people a way to show off that they completed the grind without having a super flashy and obvious curse on (which is exactly what the pirate legend curse is used for now that it's unlockable through the guardians of fortune) and for a way for people to show that they got the skeleton curse while still being able to wear normal clothing, since only having a very small portion of the player's body be a skeleton would assumedly be much easier to make functional with normal clothing.
I don't see why they shouldn't make clothing compatible with the skeleton curse. They could just slowly update current clothing pieces to be compatible with skeletons with each content update. They already have the items made, so I'd imagine fixing minor issues that would be present on skeletons would be a great substitute for their artists whenever they can't work on something else. Idk if I'm making false assumptions, but I'd just love to see the skeleton curse being compatible with clothes
Thank you so much for making a video on this. I completely understand Rare's direction but given their clear overflow of a work load I can only imagine issues like these do exactly as you said it, back them into a corner. I have been beating this drum since they teased the idea, in fact I think I even posted a rather lengthy rant in one of your videos about it lol. I understand clothing pieces, but it really would be nice to have my hat and hook, or peg and eye patch. Those are all personal enough but the mock ups you showed kinda proved the point of how much better it would be. As much as I love the skull curse, I am going to go with the ghost curse for aesthetic purposes until maybe skeleton parts are added in a trickle. I'm just upset we still dont have complete versions of many sets or sets that aren't just palette swaps. I also understand it is more complicated than just copying a model and adjusting some sliders to create those pieces as well, I am being reductionist for my point, but still all these things just mean the slow drip feed of cosmetics is only slower, and that's BEFORE considering trinkets and things for captaincy, environment, clutter, and other things that make the world feel like SoT.
I'm sure that there will be future updates that will bring more cosmetics to the skeleton curse, either by just being in the Bonesmith's shop, in the emporium, maybe through the emissary system if it gets a new update (which with Gloria and the Reaper, seems like there will be a new emissary update), and last but not least: events. The skeleton curse is going to be like 2018 SoT: limited cosmetics with more coming out every few updates. Heck, maybe there will be the normal seasonal pass clothing set, then a second skeleton curse set in the pass as well.
I get not making it work with gold cosmetics because of the amount of work it would require but I feel in order to try and mitigate the emporium being effected would be to make the costumes people pay real money to buy should work with the curse. All I’ve wanted since day one was to be a skeleton Barbossa. With the costume I get close but it can’t be used with the curse sadly.
I hope someday in the future the Skeleton Curse will work with the Silent Barnacle set, alongside getting a more "sunken" Skeleton bone color, something mossier than Mottled but not as vibrant as Verdant, a nice dark green.
a few small cosmetic solutions: the reaper costume should be able with the skeleton curse, the mask should an cosmetic as his own for both normal and skellie (normal one can be earned if you reach 75 in servants of the flame faction and will be a beard cosmetic). aslo give some normal trousers and boots, i know we have nothing to hide anymore but still, flameheart and Rathbone just wear pants. facepaint can still work, we just paint the skull. a goldhoarder jaw if you already head the gold curse. I think rare sees the skelleton curse as costumable costume. Ps: i think i prefer you in ashen curse, it suits you.
You know, I don't have much of a problem with it being behind PvP, but it hurts to see that the xp gained after a loss is extremely tiny. It doesn't matter if I sunk after 20 seconds or spent 2 hpurs fighting a ship and almost got there, the xp for a loss is still the same without taking into consideration time and effort. I try to get better, but it makes me feel really bad to see that all tye effort and time trying to get there is not recognized, only the result of wither win or loss and that makes me not want to play PvP too much.
Unfortunately it is a pretty glaring problem that will need to be addressed if Rare wants the new PvP mode to survive. Unfortunately the same thing that happened to Arena is happening to the new Hourglass mode. The reward isn't enough and it's way too punishing and stressful which is causing most players to turn away from it, hence the long queue times. Stats show that only 1% of the playerbase have the new curses, pretty much everyone else has already given up. My prediction is that this new mode will go the same way that the Arena did, Rare will end up shelving it due to it being mostly dead.
@@derekbateman7378 Wait, where did you get the stats about 1% having the curses? Please, can you give me the source? I want to see if I can post it on the forums to keep asking for a more rewarding system toward losers.
I really like the skeleton curse and like it a lot more than the ghost one, for me personally the issue will be solved when they add a few more pages of cosmetics at the bonesmith
I feel it would be best to make all new clothes skeleton compatible, and mark the current ones as “Legacy Clothing”. If they want they can update the previous clothes, but at the very least anything new will give you plenty of options after a while
I feel like making certain items compatible with the skelly curse gradually over time would be a good thing to do for a while instead of adding more skelly cosmetics. For now at the very least. As like you said before, more people want to have their own cosmetics with the curse plus the fact that very little have reached servants 100, I feel like it would be less straining on The development team
I mean flame hearts recruiting a slave army right now he doesn't really need cool things to give out to people. In other words no swag bag for giving up your soul
@@infinitypeaches3329 ha… have you been to the lair? All jokes aside both sides stink and in my opinion I like Athena more as a faction but flameheart more as a character.
The customization is lacking, but this was something the community has been begging for years. I'd love more personalisation and I believe with the way it's setup that more items will be added later at higher unlock levels. That will make the grind highly difficult, but also incentive for players to grind it. Could it be better? Absolutely. Am I happy with what I got? For now yes, but I'm excusing that as it's the newest addition with hope of new items later
While I agree that they cannot port every existing clothing item to the curse, there is a way out for future commendation, season or adventure rewards: They should all come in two variants, one for skeletons and one for flesh and blood pirates. Either you always earn both of them (and if you don't have the curse, you get the cosmetic when and if you unlock it), or you only earn the skeleton one if you own the curse, or (for adventures) if you complete the adventure wearing the curse. Over time, this would still tell the story of your pirate, it's just not the whole story, but the story of your pirate after he or she got cursed.
yeah I made a post about this exact worry in the insider forums awhile ago when It first appeared. sadly it may not have been seen but I agree. the more normal items skeletons can use the more reaper players would enjoy the long term releases rather than eventually abandoning their curse.
After getting the curse I was kinda disappointed that there was nothing else but about 30 cosmetics I do hope they add some new weapons and more cosmetics or even ship cosmetics that you can only use with your skeleton this would be very cool.
What I want is what tf2 does with specific cosmetics: styles. Certain hats allow you to change minor elements, such as bearded/clean shaven, camo/non camo, etc. I think that the skeleton curse could be excellent if small stylized changes were up to the player, that way the limited amount of sets might at least have differentiation between pirates.
So I think I have an interesting way to look at it from an in-game standpoint that could potentially add something. Spoilers past this point for anyone who hasn't gotten their curse yet. When receiving the skeleton curse, Flameheart makes a point of saying that you're being "reborn". In fact, being reborn is a common thread with the reapers throughout the history of the game. Would it not make sense that Flameheart doesn't care about who we were before? We've proven ourselves as dedicated soldiers of his vision, why would we need to continue to carry the paltry souvenirs of our previous (and mostly PvE based) adventures? It's what we do now, as a "true pirate", that matters. I think we'll see new rounds of cosmetics tied to commendations for clearing old content but with the curse. Perhaps the Dutchess's dress for clearing 5 forts. Perhaps a variation of Grim's coat for so many Ashen Lord kills. What we have now is just the bones of the system, pardon the pun. That said you have a point when it comes to questioning why they'd add these in. It's clear the system is already getting hit with fatigue and disinterest for such a grind. Maybe throwing in even more rewards will bring it back for some, but I won't be surprised if later down the line, as various NPCs in the hideouts receive their full functions, that we'll see new ways to level into the system, obtain the curse, and modify it.
Exactly what I was thinking. From this point on; anything they make for normal pirates excludes my skeleton curse character ( I literally bought the game and ground out the curse immediately, before attaining PL) and every skeleton cosmetic excludes a huge swathe of people who cant be bothered or otherwise have not / cannot attain the curse. It absolutely make sme feel new skeleton curse cosmetics are going to be EXCEEDINGLY rare, best I can hope for is one or two per season, and thats quite sad
The biggest issue by far is that the vanity chest items don’t carry over. I could bear with no clothes but losing hair and defining features like hooks and eyepatches sucks. I’m an athena supporter but I would have loved to use skele curse for my pirate and tie it to his backstory. His defining feature is his blindness and the only way I can show it is a hat and blindfold that I don’t particularly like.
Damn that sucks, I thought it was just like the ghost one, this seems so easy I thought it was a no brainer, cause being a skeleton is just a model, like the many pirates you can be why tf don't they nust put clothes normaly doesnt matter if youre gonna hide most of your bones or whatever is up to the player if you wanna go shirtless them do it this makes no sense
As a person who plays this game almost every day, I would say that I am greatly disappointed in the skeleton curse but I am also very grateful for it being in the game. If Rare wanted to put every piece of clothing and cosmetic that we own to be compatible with the skeleton curse it would probably have to be the communities decision if it were to happen. Other than that the skeleton curse is lit.
As someone who joined only recently I really hope they keep at least some way to earn it around after this season and it doesn't die horribly like the arena did
One of the big reasons I haven’t grinded for the skelly curse is because I would have to give up my shores of gold curse, me that I got when the tall tales first came out, without exploits. I hated that grind and want to show off the fruit of my labor, I shouldn’t have to give it up and grind to level 1000 just to get the same effect.
To be fair, I would say this issue started with costumes, not skeleton curse. A lot of cosmetics including scars tattoos etc cannot be seen when wearing a lot of the costumes. I think costumes have harmed the individuality and aesthetic of this game way more than the skeleton curse has
My biggest issue with a curse is how limited it is compared to normal pirate customization. Say we have a lot of skeleton pieces, it still gonna be less expressive compared to pirates. Not including bone colour skeletons only have 3 pieces they can use. Those being: Head, chest and gloves, legs and boots. Compare that to usual 13 options on pirates (Which are: Boots, pegleg, bottoms, belt, gloves, hooks, dress, jacket, shirt, beard, eyepatch, hair and a hat.) Which means even if skeletons had 100 of options per each of the 3 pieces they would never have the same variety as a pirate has. Even having separate gloves and boots would've helped. And for those afraid of the goofy crab arm not being possible that way: hooks, dresses, peglegs and costumes already override some of your pieces on a pirate, so choosing a crab torso could've given you the permanent crab arm regardless of chosen gloves. What I can see them doing is either doubling down on 3 piece skeleton curse with just releasing new parts, or model all the future clothing with skeleton in mind, so you could wear it while being a default skelly. Later one does feel unlikely, because if they would do that, people will cry for all the older clothing, and asking rare to remodel each and every piece of clothing in the game is just unreasonable.
Eighty percent of a pirate's character is in the hair and beard, and there are about a third of those as there are everything else. If they just added hairs and beards to skele pirates, they'd solve 80% of the issue for 29% of the effort.
Well yea it's a bummer that you can't use normal clothing. But still one of the greatest things they added to the game, only equipping make you look badass and thou the customizations are lacking, my skelly looks way different than my friend's. Hopefully with just a little more options and a ship set or two (Burrning Blade and Skelly ship like would be dope) servants will get from very good to awesome IMO.
i just hope they'll keep supporting the curse by adding new cosmetics exclusive to it, even if they're simple clothes and not necessarely anything extravagant. i wanna have more long jackets, pants, boots. so far we only have one jacket and one lower body part that holds both trousers and boots, making anyone who want to rock a similar style, look all the same. and i'm talking about adding a reasonable amount of customizations to it, not simply 2 or 3 new items per category. i'm personally okay with waiting for the next season or even longer but they need to add a good amount of new customizations for the curse, cause personally (and i know im not the only one) i'm discouraged to use it right now.
I recon if Rare wanted they could focus on converting the clothing that actual skeletons wear in the game into skeleton curse clothing fairly easily, it would be especially great to see say the shadow bones be available for skelle curse for defeating x amount of FoTDs etc🤔
Beyond the fact I'm not level 75 with Reapers I've chosen to grind up to the ghost curse because of the way the skeleton curse is. It's super cool looking and a great concept but you give up your individuality to get it which, maybe, is the point as Flameheart burns away your old self and tempers you into something new. I personally think they could start releasing Skeleton versions of common sets so you can make your skeleton look like your pirate, albeit without all the various recolours. Will take a lot of time to do, I suspect.
they should add perks to the curses. for example skeletons can walk on the bottom of the ocean and dont drown like in the first poc movie and ghosts dont take fall damage or something.
As someone who started playing in season 2 and stopped (couldnt convince my buddies to join) and just returned to play in Season 8, the skelly curse is definiatelly a worthy goal to grind, as it would be my first major achievement to show-off ingame. But i get the point, it might feel underwhelming for veterans, but great for returning / new players like me.
I agree completely. At first, I was peeved when they didn’t allow the cosmetics I worked hard for/earned for the skeleton curse. But over time, I begin to pull back my view. Do I expect to have a sailor outfit skelly? I use to, but now, no. I believe a smart decision for Rare to do is put any Reaper/skeleton/Flameheart related items, and make them usable with the curse, while adding actual clothing sets, ripped from the pages of the Art Book. I believe there is an achievement image from the last season with skeleton WEARING some of that stuff. They have the models, all they gotta do is rig it to the curse and all the pirate body models. I do still highly request them to add beards, eyepatches, hooks, and peg legs, that hypothetical would be easier than jackets, shirts, etc. Amd of course, actual Reaper stuff for the curse. We see some skeletons wearing a ripped up version of the costume. There could and can be more created, without stuff feeling boarderline emporium like. They could add some Tall Tale related items for the curse. For example, Briggsy’s mask that can be wearable with or without the curse, the Gold Hoarders lower jaw (the crimson chin) Adara’s hat, Rooke’s hat that can as well be wearable with or without the curse. Maybe add some Ashen Lord stuff as well. An jagged arm alongside a ashen heart while wearing one of the ashen lords hats, jackets/dresses, and hairs/beards. The list can go on and I don’t expect them to add ALL of this stuff in one go. Baby steps, that’s all I ask. Guardians has more stuff, tempting more people to their favor because of the amount of rewards for hard work. The scales need to be even. Adding stuff and making new stuff for the skeleton curse over time will get it and Servants of the Flame more attraction. That’s all I can really say.
Personally. My pirate always rocks the Merchant alliance hat and the eye patch. I like to think that he murdered a merchant and likes to dress above his station in life. I would love for the merchant hat to come across to the Skellie curse. We’ve even seen it on the lost shipment shipwreck skeletons before. All emissary outfits should have a skellie variant.
I think a, less then ideal, solution to this problem is to grant players who unlock the skeleton curse a partial skeleton curse Like maybe an arm and a leg turns to bone, then the rest can be bog standard cosmetics as it would otherwise be fully human other then those two limbs This gives level 100 players a subtle way to show off their pvp skill without throwing everything away You could still have tattoos, you could still have face paint and you could still have your regular clothing
That is one of the first things I thought to myself when I saw the trailers. This is not a curse, because I can't put on the clothes I want. It is an Outfit like those from the emporium
Knowing that they are making new things for the skeleton pirates you do have a good point. That point being why would Rare please a small fraction of the player base when you can please everyone. Like look at how long it took them to add PL cosmetics to the game. But I do have hope. That hope is in the designs for the skeleton lords, ashen lords, skeleton captains, and ashen skeletons. They look cool and if they can create something as interesting as those designs, surely they can add more features to the skeleton creation. Plus having the curse is like having a second pirate that you can customize how you deem fit. Now cross your fingers for skeleton hair to be added cause I want dreads.
I really thought they'd at least allow more than one hat option for the skeleton curse. As it stands the curse is a let down, it just feels like a costume, the customization see's you "earn" the ability to look like an npc (and even then not even the cool one's) hell even the cursed bones set is from skeleton bounty missions, that *should* be wearable as a bloody skeleton. The ghost curse is a very cool way to flavour your existing pirate. The skelly curse just overwrites your aesthetic and doesn't justify doing so
Im so close to skelly curse and I cant wait, I already have ghost curse but I cant wait to have both. I am slightly annoyed that my 3000 hours of time spent unlocking stuff that some of it cant match with skelly curse, but I can look past it. Also tge grind is definitley to hard (This is coming from someone who was 68 on friday night and was 88 by last night, but still way too hard)
I think its possible that they will make it possible to wear normal cloths but these other cosmetics will be exclusive to those who have hit 100 and obtained them
My friend (lifelong reaper) is drifting towards Athena’s so he can keep his outfit. I still want to go servants though, mainly for the hideout. But we are both shamefully level 20…
I think there's no real way to adjust everything to be made with the skeleton curse. It's too demanding of time and resources with how many cosmetics we have in the game now. If there's anything I wish would be changed as far as skeleton variants goes, it's the Sunken/Coral skeleton variant be locked behind Legend of the Sunken Kingdom commedation. That would give players a real reason to complete it aside of the Coral Curse. Most of the players who have it did it when it first dropped but newer players don't really know/care for it all that much.
Can we just get some ghost skeleton stuff, im talking about the theme/design on the ghost weapons where its that green glow with vroken pieces that are kinda levitating in place, how cool would that be if your skelly had a busted, rib, leg, arm and some other random bones that would just kinda hold together through levitating with that classic green glow at the break points
ive been waiting for cosmetic updates ever since i started playing. im hoping season 9 or some other upcoming season will take some of these points into consideration with the skeleton curse, along with expanding the cosmetics. i heard that jewellery is coming up soon, maybe its not all bad haha
The thing they did correctly is putting sunken sorrow firmly aligned with flamehart. But since there is reapers ghosts, I suppose there should be athenas skeletons. The cage is firmly representing soulflame stuff. I don't fell like its playful at all.
I think they should change the system used to create cosmetics to support use on the skeleton curse so all future cosmetics can be used, and then over time convert old cosmetics to the new system so in 4 years when they are done drip feeding the updated clothes everything can be used with the curse. Idk how hard this would be to do and would definitely take time for the developers to adapt to a new system, but think it would be the best for the long run.
I can't help but wonder For the pirate legends who got it the first year Was awarded with some ship sails and a unique blunderbuss. I wonder if there will be anything similar for the year one skeleton curse Stuff.
they should definitely make a torn and ripped ferryman set for the skelly but only for the people who have the original ferryman outfit. ngl I'm 131 and none of the other cosmetics appeal to me.
Feel the same. Shame i already started the servants with a friend, instead of the guardians. We're currently at 65 and will probably take another two to three weeks till lvl 100, but im already sure i won't wear the skeleton curse that often. At least we also get access to the hideout..
I'm just surprised by the amount of customisation we have for the skele curse rn, it's not that much, especially when you see every npc skeleton in the game and their clothes and everything
I see where you’re coming from but, the villains always wear matching uniforms you’re not in charge, flame heart is that’s why I like Athena you can express who you are and show off your pride of being free. But I totally understand I’m having paint cosmetics that you can’t wear using it so it comes down to was it worth spending the money or do I show off the grind
Since they already released the clothes for the skeleton curse they probably won’t add any normal clothes but it would be cool if they added beards or hair.
They could add skeleton parts to the plunder pass for people who have the curse already and the same with clothing items that you only earn if you have the ghostly curse
Yea, fair point. And after thinking about it for a while, if they added sets after 1000, it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. If they make them worth it, it may even help the mode stay alive if say you can unlock say skeleton captain, skeleton lord, and ashen lord parts even.
I dam well think it’s perfectly reasonable to make rare re-model things for the skeleton curse, it’s not that big of a deal, just add some internal textures, if it look a bit weird that’s fine.
i just started playing recently and then a ship pulled up and i thought "oh thats just a skeleton ship" but then those skeleton started to board my ship XD
I think the grind of the curse should be compareable to the LSD grind, and for those who know, yes it's tough but it's not meant to be an everyone get it achievement, it's for the outstanding individuals who put forth the best and the grind and represents a shining achevement showing you have respect and earned your place in the arena. the 2 curses I think should resemble that, when you see a curse you'll know you're in for a good fight. The curses should NOT be like the ashen curse, a cool curse but an underwhelming way to earn it. It would be one of the coolest curses in the game except it's not hard to get. Imagine if you get the ashen curse by stealing 10 million gold worth of ashen loot for example, then it would be an outspoken curse which is a proud achievement for those who deserve it.
I wish the curses actually added to gameplay making the grind actually worth doing. Like ghost curse don't take physical damage but is much weaker to explosion damage and skeleton curse don't take fire damage but is weak to water. Something like that would have been nice.
Unfortunately that would go heavily agains SoT's whole idea of "The only power-gap between players is skill", so it would almost certainly not be added.
That would break the game entirely, the ppl who have the curse are already good, it would give them such an unfair advantage that they don't need to begin with.
Ok the fact that we cant use our own cloths with the skelly curse complaint is getting annoying. I really dont care if we cant. We get cool cosmetics behind commodations a good chunk of the better looking ones are easier, like the bomb hat, ashen bones, swag shorts, rib caged torso, are all really good cosmetics that are SUPER easy to unlock. The bomb head only takes using a gunpowder keg on a pirate while holding it, which can easily be done by visiting a skeleton fort and blowing up your teammate. And the rib caged upper body only takes killing like 400-500 phantoms, thats SUPER easy if you just visit sea forts. I forgot how to get the swag shorts but i THINK its boarding a skelly ship with the skeleton curse equipped? Idk there is a video on every cosmetic and how to get it.
I think the whole "Deletion of history" thing ties in with the lore of being a skeleton. As a skeleton, you literally gave up your life as a living pirate to serve Flameheart forevermore. You purposefully threw away all that you had accomplished, all your human personality, to join the ranks of the undead. You're naught but bones now, that was your choice.
Will the matchmaking PvP even survive post season 8? Numbers have already dwindled substantially. The curses from season 8 might end up being one of those novelties you see ever so rarely as time goes on and season 8 becomes a distant memory.
i think it should at least port the costumes, because there are less than other clothing and it would work with spirate emporium stuff, and make more generic costumes like a bilge rat costume or sea dog costume, and wait until another big quality of life update to port the clothes (at least the most used ones)
i suck at pvp and have only run into super hardcore sweaty players who are often toxic (never in a game have i ever had someone actively tell me in game chat that they wanted to ruin my night). that's my only real problem with the grind, that while it respects seasoned players, those who aren't that good have to grind SOOOOO much longer than seasoned players.
The main reason it feels like a grind is because the war is not immersive. It's designed to be 1v1 battles slapped into the seas. The war needs an update with war servers moving the battles to dedicated servers allowing actual fleet coordination tactics.
@@infinitypeaches3329 Well but the content it was intrudeced is gonna be expanded over time, just look at the 2 milestones season 8 intruduced. Too bad that it broke the roadmap an it was like ..meh
@@lifeunderthestarstv Rare's team isn't known for their brilliant coding
@@liquidanimations3397The best example of that is dead players from the ferry being able to interact with hitboxes of ships.

Hair too, i wanna be a skeleton with an afro 😭
My main issue right now is even the "normal" clothes we do have, in particular the skirt are locked behind massive commendations for the reward, I love having cosmetics to show of buut I think it should be something a little more extravagant then 'cool here's a skirt that all regular pirates can essentially get from the clothing store', I hope we see some more of these 'normal' cosmetics buuut available as soon as you obtain the curse not with additional potential hours of work
I just wanted more personality to the skeleton curse and more stuff similar to what skeletons actually wear like the bounty captains and the skeleton lords
I think Rare should start by allowing new clothes and costumes to be useable by the curse especially because some of the clothes probably already work with the skeleton so why not just start whitelisting clothes and slowly rework clothes from the most popular to the least popular so there is at least SOME costumisation possibilities
Let me at least change the skeleton skin I use on the skeleton based cosmetics that could be somewhat cool at least...

I really think they going to add a component to the character, that doesn't allow light to effect anything in its radius. That way, clothing wouldn't be seethrough.
Or they will make a script that can make an average color, that could color in the missing mesh
I do think they are going to fix this.
Normal gold items so I could see all new stuff more easily being done to work and as time can go on they get better and faster at it I mean I could see 2-4 people updating items as a small team i mean they fix old items first then do skeleton stuff also I think that some stuff that skeleton already wear will take more effect it would just make sense and all of its quality of life in a sense it’s just they slowly add stuff from the past while everything new will work to me an analogy would be Xbox backwards compatibility I mean they already have new stuff able to work on it but slowly make old games and all able to work on it and by demand and i also think by ease and age which would work well maybe on the website you sign in with your account and if you have the curse you can suggest something and whatever has the most votes gets done first alsong side the stuff on their priority list

i feel the best thing to do is to port at least the reaper themed stuff into having a humman and skeleton version so both flamehearts hats their jackets whenever those get released the reaper costume and the cursed bone set (those 2 might just have to be brand new cosmetics but just look like the ones for hummans) it wouldnt be perfect but the essentials would be there
i think a quick short term fix would be a cursed skeleton hand which could be in the hook slot showing on your regular pirate that you have the Skeleton curse and can flex and still wear the normal cosmetics (short term fix this wouldnt inheritly resolve any of the issues stated rare NEEDS to work on this curse but that will take a time and a skeleton hand to flex with in the interim would be a nice addition and shouldnt take too much work)
I’d say it’s probably a little much to ask for the entire game’s cosmetic collection to be accommodated to the skeleton curse.
I think the best solution would be for waves of skeleton curse cosmetics to make it to the game over time. Let’s use some more of that concept art Rare!
Really, it should have been carefully designed to make the clothing seamless, but I guess Rare didn't anticipate getting that far.
it's not 'a little much' to anticipate game devs to do their jobs. every other skeleton in this game gets to wear normal clothes, don't excuse rare for being lazy.
@@sleebs7814 do you know *anything* about how games are made
@@sleebs7814 yes because they've made those specific clothes compatible with the specific skeleton model.
It would be nice if a few people at rare slowly but surely worked through clothes for skeletons like we get a set every update
a few small cosmetic solutions: the reaper costume should be able with the skeleton curse, the mask should an cosmetic as his own for both normal and skellie (normal one can be earned if you reach 75 in servants of the flame faction and will be a beard cosmetic). aslo give some normal trousers and boots, i know we have nothing to hide anymore but still, flameheart and Rathbone just wear pants. facepaint can still work, we just paint the skull. a goldhoarder jaw if you already head the gold curse.
I think rare sees the skelleton curse as costumable costume.
Ps: i think i prefer you in ashen curse, it suits you.
Thank you Sjoerd

Honestly, this is the main reason I am going for the big “Shoot me! I’m a glowing target!” Ghost Curse. I can customize it more.

What I think could help would be releasing things like a skeletal hand for a hook cosmetic or a skeletal leg
If they added a skeleton arm/hand and skeleton leg/foot as a hook and peg leg vanity item, I wouldn’t ever take it off.
As someone who joined only recently I really hope they keep at least some way to earn it around after this season and it doesn't die horribly like the arena did
The curse is gonna stay here forever. as long as another arena incedient doesnt happen...
Compare that to usual 13 options on pirates (Which are: Boots, pegleg, bottoms, belt, gloves, hooks, dress, jacket, shirt, beard, eyepatch, hair and a hat.)
Which means even if skeletons had 100 of options per each of the 3 pieces they would never have the same variety as a pirate has.
I'm grinding the athena blessing first so hopefully when I get the skelliton their are more options
5:08 Well the Reaper emissary outfit does work with skeleton as we’ve seen it. We just aren’t allowed to equip it
i just hope they'll keep supporting the curse by adding new cosmetics exclusive to it, even if they're simple clothes and not necessarely anything extravagant.
i wanna have more long jackets, pants, boots.
so far we only have one jacket and one lower body part that holds both trousers and boots, making anyone who want to rock a similar style, look all the same.
and i'm talking about adding a reasonable amount of customizations to it, not simply 2 or 3 new items per category.
i'm personally okay with waiting for the next season or even longer but they need to add a good amount of new customizations for the curse, cause personally (and i know im not the only one) i'm discouraged to use it right now.
I recon if Rare wanted they could focus on converting the clothing that actual skeletons wear in the game into skeleton curse clothing fairly easily, it would be especially great to see say the shadow bones be available for skelle curse for defeating x amount of FoTDs etc🤔
I just wish there was more lore interaction once you got the skelly curse. Like, NPCs look at you or act differently around you!
(Sorry if I went on a rant. It’s just been on my mind lately, alongside a lot of other people)
3:09 eyyy young Ashinray, your pirate looks so different without the curse
I think a, less then ideal, solution to this problem is to grant players who unlock the skeleton curse a partial skeleton curse
Like maybe an arm and a leg turns to bone, then the rest can be bog standard cosmetics as it would otherwise be fully human other then those two limbs
This gives level 100 players a subtle way to show off their pvp skill without throwing everything away
You could still have tattoos, you could still have face paint and you could still have your regular clothing
I'd say on porting cosmetics over, to start with the reaper stuff and tall tale stuff, then work out from there, add in costumes and keep going
Skeleton curse feels like customizable outfit, i still will get it, but i dont like that.
Future clothing could just be made to work with skelenton curse, pretty straightforward honestly.
ive been waiting for cosmetic updates ever since i started playing. im hoping season 9 or some other upcoming season will take some of these points into consideration with the skeleton curse, along with expanding the cosmetics. i heard that jewellery is coming up soon, maybe its not all bad haha
The thing they did correctly is putting sunken sorrow firmly aligned with flamehart. But since there is reapers ghosts, I suppose there should be athenas skeletons.
The cage is firmly representing soulflame stuff. I don't fell like its playful at all.
Personally I was hoping having the original gold curse would get you the golden bones
Maybe a partial skeletal curse that would take the place of peg legs/ hooks? That way you could still flex with most of the cosmetics staying the same
That being said I am really enjoying the skeleton curse and I am having fun working to unlock more pieces of it.
I think its REALLY hard to make clothing working for skelly curse, the only thing I can imagine that they can allow, is hair, eyepatch, hat and jacket
to start with, Rare could just adapt the cosmetics they already created for NPC skeletons for the skeleton curse.
they should definitely make a torn and ripped ferryman set for the skelly but only for the people who have the original ferryman outfit. ngl I'm 131 and none of the other cosmetics appeal to me.
Feel the same. Shame i already started the servants with a friend, instead of the guardians. We're currently at 65 and will probably take another two to three weeks till lvl 100, but im already sure i won't wear the skeleton curse that often. At least we also get access to the hideout..
The leveling is my only issue. I’ve sunk 70 ships and I’m only halfway. That’s leagues more than flameheart himself has as confirmed kills.
I think they could start with the beards, hats, hooks and peglegs as this does not require remodeling the entire cosmetic
I'm just surprised by the amount of customisation we have for the skele curse rn, it's not that much, especially when you see every npc skeleton in the game and their clothes and everything
I was really surprised there was no Reaper robes for it
@@AShinyRay Yeah, I really want the skeleton reaper PJ we saw in the ritual of the flame
I don't think people would be pleased with paid unlocks gated behind some of the toughest progression in the game
Too much time is being spent on Emporium items
@@AShinyRay and not enough time being spent fixing bugs
i just started playing recently and then a ship pulled up and i thought "oh thats just a skeleton ship" but then those skeleton started to board my ship XD
I get your point but gatekeeping content like that will unfortunately only drive players away from the game, and the game is already dying as it is.
NO. that goes against the whole idea of the game
That would break the game entirely, the ppl who have the curse are already good, it would give them such an unfair advantage that they don't need to begin with.
I disagree with that
Really hoping for reaper masks for skeletons.
Skeleton curse is a bit lackluster, yeah. But I still want it and hope that it gains more cosmetics one day
Will the matchmaking PvP even survive post season 8? Numbers have already dwindled substantially. The curses from season 8 might end up being one of those novelties you see ever so rarely as time goes on and season 8 becomes a distant memory.
Yep, it'll be fine. They will need to add new stuff to it though.
i think it should at least port the costumes, because there are less than other clothing and it would work with spirate emporium stuff, and make more generic costumes like a bilge rat costume or sea dog costume, and wait until another big quality of life update to port the clothes (at least the most used ones)
i suck at pvp and have only run into super hardcore sweaty players who are often toxic (never in a game have i ever had someone actively tell me in game chat that they wanted to ruin my night). that's my only real problem with the grind, that while it respects seasoned players, those who aren't that good have to grind SOOOOO much longer than seasoned players.
The main reason it feels like a grind is because the war is not immersive. It's designed to be 1v1 battles slapped into the seas. The war needs an update with war servers moving the battles to dedicated servers allowing actual fleet coordination tactics.
damn thats a good point... im actually worried about a their income now!
They could make body parts wearing redesigned clothing, starting with the original sets
Seasons like season 8 and 7 are the best. You know that in the future the features will massivaly be continued every other update
season 7 was terrible, barely any content other than cosmetics and ''you can now sit on stools and pick them up!''
@@infinitypeaches3329 Well but the content it was intrudeced is gonna be expanded over time, just look at the 2 milestones season 8 intruduced. Too bad that it broke the roadmap an it was like ..meh
The reason I've decided to go for ghost curse first is just I want to see my outfit
We Need Clothes for Skeleton curse, like hair and beard, only exclusive for skeleton curse users,so we can make a crew of skellies of our own
