    I’m glad they took a chance on letting him do his own thing. “Marshall Law”vibes too.

      You mean Jae Lee has some Kevin Nolan in him? Love the Marshall Law, Got a Review on that One too... and It's a Still which I want to include in my Drawings!

      @@darioscomicschool1111 Yeah Kevin O’Neill! Believe it or not, I bought that comic when it came out and kept up with issues-totally was just a kid but the comic store didn’t stop me lol. I got that and before that Elektra Assassin by Bill. It really changed my taste and views of what I wanted from comics-I appreciated the more painted and “abstract” off the wall style work and even though now at 48 i’m “starting” to actually draw a COMIC after being a film/tv storyboard and concept guy and oil painter, I still hold those non-standard comics that were created in the boundaries more dear and built it into my own work.

      @@timpeterson87That is the Way to go. I hope you upload some of your Work to your Channel so people and I can see what you do. I have a similar history of being in the movie industry due to a lack of.... "Comic Industry or Schools for that here in Germany". I mean I was going down the Graphic Designer route...than working for Movies - but it was not quite what I needed. But Movies, Music, Stories, Games, Life and Experience is what I am. And in 2020 due to Lockdowns I got into Painting. I am doing now all kind of Stuff. RUclips as well as you can see. But now I am destilling down, so everything can go back into making Comics, and These Older Comics & Movies are my Guidelines. Keep Going, Starting. The best might be ahead of you.

    BTW --- I believe that was during the period where I heard Jae Lee was doing about 6 pages PER DAY. He was cranking that stuff out quickly.

    • @darioscomicschool1111
      @darioscomicschool1111  11 месяцев назад +1

      Holy smokes, 6 pages PER DAY! Okay, now I know whats possible. But it also shows. I rate quality over speed. But, I'm also aware of fhe Industry demands and deadline preassure.

      @@darioscomicschool1111 -- Just a few months after he'd done the issues you're looking at here --- Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld were in a bit of a 'bidding war' to get Jae to draw a book for them. (I had just started inking for Wildstorm at that time)
      I've heard different figures for how fast he was, but I heard something like 6-8 pages per day at his peak. He just never said no to anything he was asked to do, I guess.

      @@chuckgibson3973 Interesting. He went and worked for Jim then? Did Chappel? I checked out your Channel and saw you Inking... i thought, man is everybody inking Digitally these days. What happend to inks and paper!? But I can Understand that too. Do you know Richard Friend? He worked there too I guess.
      What are you up today Chuck. Gonna check your Channel again^^ right now.
      Also I have to see more on what Jae Lee did...but It kinda didn't move me,... Watchmen and co. But I might have to take another look.
      Is there some Recommendation for me? Something I should talk about? An Artist? A Comic? Something that deserves a Spotlight and Study?

      @@darioscomicschool1111 -- Jae did "Wildcats Trilogy" for Jim in 1994.
      Yeah, I switched to digital about a decade ago. Pen and paper quality has gotten so bad over the years that I don't like 'rolling the dice' with it to see if it will decide to work right for me. Digital is consistent with performance and helpful because I can zoom in (I'm 55 and my eyesight isn't improving).
      I've known Rich Friend for 30 years... Sandra Hope, Trevor Scott, Sal Regla -- all those folks.
      If I start recommending artists worthy of study... it's a long list.

      @@chuckgibson3973 I totally understand the Paper situation. Sad, to hear. It has to work and consistantly. Well haha, I hope your Eyes keep strong. But I know what you mean. All days staring at Screens or the Same Distance...and than the Age factor. Well I am open for Lists. One at a time. And without any rush. Slow is smooth, and smooth is Steady. I feel the Past 20 Years have done a disservice to Comic and Its art. In all Aspects. From Writing, Penciling, Inking, Coloring. I think alot of Practical stuff has not been passed on to the next generation. But all Media has gone through this, Movies, Comics, Music, ...ecc.

    Wow that early Jae Lee had some Mignola, Bisley and I would say some Sam Keith in some of those "ugly" panels.

    • @darioscomicschool1111
      @darioscomicschool1111  11 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely! And That is why I wanted to show it!
      And I love all of these 3 INfluences. But that is kinda the Point... You are what you Consume. And It is also good to have or develop your own style and I think that comes from Volume. I have so many Unrealized Comics... I wanted to do them, But something else always come up. I am now Drawing and layouting Rough Covers...and I think I want to "just" churn 'em out!

    25:52 I've heard this called 'drawing big by drawing small' by some pros. You can set that shot up as a 2 page spread and spend 3 days on it... or do it small and spend an hour and a half. The reader sees the same thing in their head if you do it right.

    • @darioscomicschool1111

      I know what you mean and I works great. I have done it myself. But there is a certain beauty in this speed Economy style. I think John Romita Jr adepted Something similar... And maybe it makes the Art and Storytelling better. Only lean meat on this.
      What became of Jae Lee. I only saw his Dark Tower thing, and than he kinda left my awareness Stage.

    If you like this you need to see his Namor run.
