This video shows the animations for the SS Magic Spells: Rexbolt, Rexflame, Rexaura, Rexcalibur and Balberith.
---
Sorry about the Balberith quality being so bad but I only had a save with Pelleas on 4-E-5. :x If you want to see Balberith I'd recommend this video: • Video
This game is 12 years old yet has the best magic animation in the series. So sad that the animation in Three Houses is not up to par.
Definitely. So disappointed by three houses' magic.
3House magic spells animation is very bad...
Yeah honestly though I think 3 houses has the best magic system. Yeah it can be annoying that certain spells are locked behind characters in particular but I like that the spells refresh after each battle
You echoed my thoughts as I watched this video. The magic animation is ridiculously terrible
Three Houses animations in general
I find it funny how Rexflame, Rexbolt, and Rexcalibur can miss. Your surrounded by lava, yet somehow miss. Being constantly zapped, and miss. Being trapped in ice, and miss.
Has anyone noticed that every Arch Sage in this game has neat-looking shoulder pads?
It happens when a Mage gets promoted to their final class
That's the cool design of the Tier 3 classes here in Radiant Dawn for you.
Wind Magic = Ice
How interesting
Wind can be cold
@@aceclover758 Wind chill sucks
Idk why, but I read this with Jeritza's dialogue speech
Interesting maneuver
Well after playing nearly all the DS/3ds/GBA versions and three houses, I gotta say radiant dawn still has the sickest magic/animations of any fire emblem game
I agree. They're awesome and satisfying to watch.
what about Shadows of Valentia?
I'm considering reuploading this video with Cymbeline, Creiddylad and possibly Valaura. Anyone think I should bother doing that?
15 years too late, but yes 😂
Such a waste I never turned on animations on Radiant Dawn, but they take way too much time, considering Radiant Dawn is already one of the longest Fire Emblem games.
I didn't have Soren on any playthroughs when I was recording this
I'm slightly upset that you used Bastian instead of Soren but oh well. Rexcalibur is still my favorite.
Yeah. To me though, it looks more like how Fimbulvetr used to in FE7.
Bastian is awesome yo.
Actually, Fimbulvetr is the name they gave to that tome in the French version ofFE Radiant Dawn
this, how can you show the coolest wind magic but not with the "master of winds"????
Balberith has got to be my fave. rexbolt and rexcalibur are a close 2nd and 3rd.
They really made excellent graphics for this.
radiant dawn is so freaking cool!
On your second or further playthrough (it MUST be a clear data one) you'll get a third option when asked to kill Pelleas. Choose the third option for him to survive and join you on the second turn of 4-2
as soon as Rafiel gets in Oliver's movement range, he'll get off the throne he's on, run over and start some crazy speech with his signature music in the background and he'll join your side after that
Talk to him with Ike when he's on your side! you don't need to but it's pretty funny
RUclips video compression wasn't very kind to balberith at all
Illyana waw always my favorite Mage due to pure thunder magic, rarest magic in this game next to dark
I haven't seen the fates animations yet, but they have yet to match the epic magic animations this game had.
+wouterW24 I personally don't like Tellius series that much but i agree the magic animations were superior to any FE game.Fates animations are kinda "meh",i like the scrolls but tomes' animations are kind of small.I mean even Excalibur is.
+Yusuf Selman Abacı The 3ds probably can't handle going too wild with how the engine is built. Generally the casting animation feels a bit fast. Tellius is more epic when a mage always casts with a subtle stationary motion, in the 3ds games they just dramatically jump while everybody has the same runes.
Once FE jumps to a more powerful system they'll probably go crazier with magic again.
If nintendo HDS becomes a thing then we could see much better :D
@@wouterW24 they didnt lol. 3h is still a cool game tho
Alex Brown hah, old comments haunting me. Yeah the high tier magic could’ve been better, although it’s a step up from 3ds. At least stuff like dark spikes has a decent explosion. As you know the whole game is flawed with visual & animation polish to begin with. Maybe next time! I’m content with the style of field animation magic they have now however.
Those would be? I recorded this on Easy mode so all stats minus HP get +5 on 4-E-3 or more anyway :/
You get Pelleas if you choose the third option on a second playthrough or higher on a clear data file.
Hurrah radiant dawn has dark magic! I was so mad when path of radiance didnt...now i need to get radiant dawn x.x
Rexbolt and Rexcalibur are definitely my favorites!
It might be because I filmed this in Easy mode, so all of her stats except HP have a +5 boost
If you don't know yet, your wish has been granted.
I think they did actually call it Fimbulvetr in another language of the game :o
Second time through on any difficulty, as long as you use a clear data file
@Poptartza well, i was just referring to how dark magic is so inaccurate compared to the other magics. balberith only has 75 accuracy while every other tome is around 100. the A support with heaven gives a nice +27 accuracy that really isn't useful on anyone else but pelleas.
@Sothe108 no, he can only have SS rank dark magic, and S rank thunder magic, and something for the staff.
@danielchen3350 Rex means "king," which is probably why the most powerful magic tomes (save for Balberith) have "rex" in their names.
Why is it in general Wii and DS games have better magic and power animation than on the Switch and other stuff? Some examples are FE and Pokémon
Its pretty much fimbulvetr backwards. Rexcalibur is called fimbulvetr in the french version
Personally I think Rexbolt looks incredible! And some people say Balberith has blood in the animation.
When I saw the wind magic coming up, I was hoping to see Soren *sob*
It's actually a backwards version of Fimbulvetr, and in the french version it's named filmbulvetr.
Personally I think rexbolt looks incredible!
Get game complete data then play through it again and at the part where Micahia is supposed to kill Pelleas there will be a third option and if you chose that option you will get Pelleas in your party.
but in this game your characters can get promoted twice, and thats what i like about this game
I forgot about Cymbeline/Creiddylad actually. Valaura is an S rank tome though and it just has the Rexaura animation but purple :s
Rexaura, Rexbolt, and Rexcalibur are spells made of win. :)
what i always wonder is how to dodge theses spells and the s magic spells and why it only hits ONE unit
meteriote45
IKR?!
Yeah, that's a good question. Rexflame swarms a whole battlefield in lava, Rexaura should be blinding literally everyone in the vicinity, and Rexbolt should be electrocuting everyone nearby even since it shows a storm as a source of those bolts.
@@soronexle2681 and rexcaliber is a litteral tornado with lots of small ice chunks
Put Rafiel in his range and he'll (Oliver) talk to him (Rafiel) and join you.
some people seem to be just so darned lucky with her
Very nice eye :D It still retains the Excalibur look from those games.
Balberith looks awesome, although I've used Rexflame the most during my playthrough.
Pelleas needs to be an Arch Sage to get SS Dark, just promote him
Oliver can be obtained by putting Rafiel within his movement range on 4-4
Dragonfoe doesn't stack with the thunder bonus
every spells looks pretty intense on the animation... but Rexflame and Balberith...
the other ones Rexcalibur, Rexbolt and especially Rexaura, their animation goes really intense, like the screen shakes a lot there's a lot of textures in the screen and a lot of sounds..
@Bikriki It is. I'm sure you've found out by now, but Thunder magic was the most powerful in Path of Radiance, and is the weakest in Radiant Dawn.
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, it's right in the title of the video
Rexaura is so fucking cool.
@raylegend33 That's probably the most plausible explanation for Light that I've heard, though such a gruesome death doesn't sound very fitting to be caused by one bound to the clergy. As for Dark, well, I dunno, poison seems a little far-fetched...
Rexbolt is an extreme surge of lightning.
Rexflame is an eruption of pure magma.
Rexaura is an explosion of pure light.
Rexcaliber is a destructive tornado of cold air.
Balberith is I think a Black Hole absorbing the antimatter in the field, detonating after too much is absorbed.
That's what I think at least.
On the second playthrough you have the choice of not killing him.
rexbolts my favorite! and it looks the coolest
WTF!!!!
Rexcalibur's Awesome!!!
Yeah! It's not just the Tornado animation from the SNES games that is recolored and worse than most other tomes like it is in Heroes.
Wow. Ilyanna is still alive for you. I got her killed really quickly lol. I thought it was one of those games that when somebody dies they come back the next battle. Then I was all like......dang.
Instead of having Yune bless one of the ultimate spells, I gave Micaiah a Purge tome (long range light magic) and she devastated the red dragons on this level.
@blarghblargh5 I wasn't counting it as such when I made this two years ago, although in retrospect I'm missing both Creiddylad and Cymbeline, and arguably Ashera's Judge too :/
I really should make a new version of this
@oisinconnolly Dark isn't evil, it's knowledge. And that's as inconceivable as Heather's children.
@GURGLEGUY12345 Its fine, and amusing how we keep this "conversation" alive.
I still say that balberith draws deadly poison from the air, and infects the enemy, then causes all the poison to shoot outward in a very painful, and forceful way.
@ZeroXLR8
Maybe a Lv.2, but not Lv. 1. It is literally impossible for Ilyana to have 45 HP at Lv.1 because her HP cap as a thunder sage is 40, and she gains 4 HP upon promotion. 40+4=44.
yeah, now that we mentioned it, Pong was pretty darn hard after a while
Rexcalibur is almost like a total remix of Fimbulvetr.
the last levels when they become the words become blue and stuff
Haha you can't even see Bastian's Corrossion when it activates.
damn. pelleas really needs to have A support with a heaven affinity character to be useful in the endgame
243 DAMAGE DESTRUCTION
@GURGLEGUY12345 In the opening scene, Light magic apparently blinds.
it looks like you're a spellcaster specialist
Yeah, really excited. Wow we didn't have a real name for the Wii U whenever i posted that first comment.
I can never spell that spell name right D=
But yes, it is, including the wind spirals in the beginning of the casting as well! It just looks more epic here due to the three dimensional aspect.
yes mist is called in German the dirt from the animal or so
haar is the hair in german
öhm bastian is a normal name also :D
You'll have to do the game again, Ashera becomes off limits once you save over 4-E-5 D:
Can you make a collection of magic animation used in Radiant Dawn? From the basic magic tomes to the SS-class tomes...I like the stuff, that fire, wind, light, dark.. things... Looking forward to it!
wow RexCalibur does look like a backwards Fimbulvetr
Rexcalibur looks like ice is freezing on the enemy, lol... I like Rexbolt the best, though, x3
after beating the game, at the part where you have to kill him (2nd time playthrough), there is another option; not to kill him, then afterwards he joins you.
@hoodman12 I know, but I don't see how hurting someone's eyes could kill them.
@supermegaguy666 it might be the 5+ buff on all stats for the final 3 chapters seriosly when you get that the last 3 chapters are a cake walk
You have to wonder how Light and Dark hurts. >_>
It's ok guys. Corrosion activated. All is well.
the wind spell look like wind in the beggining but then when it attacks the enemy it looks like ice lol. Nice vid loved it ^-^
183 damage with Rexbolt
yeah that'll pretty much kill anything
Rexcalibur is awesome. Can't wait to buy this game.
Kinda reminds me of Fimbulvetr
Did you buy it?
Rexflame looks like Hell. Literally.
@PeppyHare4000
well, around the time the game came out, you could've sent in your disc to Nintendo and they would fix that glitch
why do i get the feeling that t-rex was a mage?
@encfam That is Cymbeline
@Sothe108
You used a Seraph Robe on Ilyana with 44 HP and you're calling me a moron?
yep i can definitely see s bit of fimbulvetr showing through. funny tho, shouldnt it be based on excalibur?
I didn't have Soren on this playthrough
I actually liked my Ilyana, turned out to be a decent unit, especially on Endgame 3...
man, rexcalibur looks more like fimbulvtre or however you spell it from the GBA fire emblems
balberith looks like a much cooler negative gate from vesperia
@raylegend33 Well, when my friend was making a Fire Emblem Age of Mythology mod, he asked what unit I'd be and I said I wanted to be a Shaman...
well add that with the 61 damage she does on the first attack and well, who wants thunder charred dragon meat?
All of those spells rock, but i didn't have the pacience for Illyana,Calil and Tormod since i have them to weak.
ah i see,in terms of complexity i agree Adventure Quest compared to Fire Emblem most resembles...E.T.
pong was complex in my eyes, since the ball can go oh so fast
I Love Ilyana!
She's so cute and she is the best ^^
@VanishingBliss I agree with you about Astra and Aether looking cooler in PoR. Also, Astra is really the worst mastery skill in the game as far as practicality goes. In PoR, Astra looked really cool, and dealt some decent damage, but used weapon durability for EVERY STRIKE (all 5 of which were forced, often needlessly). RD powered it up, and didn't force all 5 strikes, but each one that connected still used weapon durability (very impractical, at least until you get blessed weapons).
Rexbolt is the best. Ilyanna best magic user!
@GURGLEGUY12345 Well, isn't Balberith like an explosion of blood? looks like that to me at least. and light could be like overexposure to light? doesn't really appy for the basic spell, but then you hve to wonder how wind, elwind, and arcwind hurt either.
but Tormod comes really, really late D:
and his str growth is actually HIGHER than his mag growth, not really the best fit for a sage
@Bikriki Darahan? Sounds like Dullahan. But Haar has a head...
@raylegend33 Ever noticed how there aren't any Dark or Light Spirits in the Tower of Guidance...? I guess bondage to the clergy explains Light magic, but where does Dark magic come from? I know that Pelleas explains that he made a pact with a spirit, but there aren't any Dark Spirits...
Radiant Dawn stated that dark magic is enigmatic and that there are few practitioners and fewer masters. I guess either the concepts of dark magic are so complex for normal students to understand or that dark magic is rare because it inhibits the darkness present anywhere outside of light.
it depends, it is a good game with some things gone from this, but i like i said it depends
