His Clarinet played “Words” & “Notes” that only Pete Could play. What a Great time it was to Be alive. Thank you Pete for the Joy you brought us. I bet You & Al Hurt are having 1 “Heck” of session everyday.
My brother Dave played the clarinet and he played it so remarkable that I thought he was going to make it in the big leagues! He was that good! Pete Fountain is ultimately the best of the bes! Pete Fountain had a gift. Although my brother was right up there, but he knew Pete Fountain was the best of the best. To be honest with you I don't think anyone is going to top Pete! My brother Dave and Pete Fountain have always been, and will forever be my favorite Jazz clarinet players of all times and that's just the way I see is! All in good fun! Miss you Pete and miss you too Dave!
everytime I blink more of the best of the best time people pass away. Who's left from the Golden Age the true creators the people who naturally drip class and show people what class and cool are. I always feel bad sometimes extra bad when you just know it's such a nice person. This is how he came across. Lord knows he sure knew how to command a clarinet. Rest in peace.
One of the greats out of New Orleans...Technique, tone, and stage presence beyond compare...Thank goodness his albums and videos are here for the "youngsters" to hear and learn from....R.I.P. PETE FOUNTAIN...
How do you get any better than Pete Fountain? Pete had a gift from God! My brother Dave met him at the French quarter's in New Orleans back in the late sixties or early seventies. Pete Fountain was the best of the best for sure! You just can't get any better than that! Thanks Pete!
My dad grew up around the corner from Pete on St Ann St. Pete lived on North white…They would put nickels in the jukebox at the corner bar and Pete would try and play along he got a lot of his inspiration from playing along with records and local radio…What a talent and pure New Orleans…RIP Mr. Pete…You will be missed this Mardi Gras the “Half Fast Marching Club” will march this year in his honor…We miss you Pete…
Great player. Lovely tone and had so much knowledge of his instrument that he could get it to do whatever he wanted it to do .. Sometimes he plays one note and it spoke volumes. ..Dearly missed.
Nice tribute to Pete Fountain, as kid I discovered Pete on Lawrence Welk and took up Clarinet in school band, his music led me to the Blues at a very young age, thanks Pete for the tunes and memories! :)
I've been loving his beautiful music since the L.Welk days. what a talent! what a fine support as well!! God will guarantee us his music again on a paradise earth! what a joy that will be!!!
BEST there ever was! or will be. Saw him years ago @ the French Quarter Inn. .A GREAT Showman. He started off with "Just a Closer..."and from that point on.. the only noise from the audience was mouse peein' on Cotton! while he was playing.
My first album was Plenty of Pete and I played it so often I can hear the music note for note in my head. Mr. Pete had the most lovely 'fat' tone of any clarinetist, and an inspiration to millions. I heard just recently that he couldn't read music.. so what? With talent like that the written notes are an aside. Love the man. Laughed loooud when he was asked why he left (was asked to leave?) Lawrence Welk. His answer:' Bourbon and Champagne don't mix!'
Pete played Large bore , 6 RING Clarinets and a custom made mouthpiece & Soft reeds (1.75-2.00) and NOOOOO, Third Graders, your folks are NOT going there ! Try the softer reeds and develop the tone....TONE is the most important thing.. the only real difference between a 5 and 6 hole is.. faster articulation.
yes Pete was the best ever,,,,,,,,
My God that is beautiful
Pete was the absolute BEST --- I know I know lots say Artie or Benny but no it was Pete!
He was my Idol back in 60's when I was taking Clarinet lessons.... still is. R.I.P. We all still love ya !🥲

Nice 👍🏼👍🏼, RIP 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Tasty solo Lloyd Ellis on Guitar!
Best version of "Amazing Grace" I've ever heard. Better than any bagpipe version.
When I first learned to play the clarinet, I purchased Pete Fountain's CD with 'Stranger On the Shore.' It was inspiring!
Immer wenn ich diesen Klarinettengott höre, erfasst mich diese melancholisch - heitere Stimmung .

Pete Fountain and "Stranger on the Shore" is the reason I bought a clarinet.

Tiene gran parte de culpa de que estudiara clarinete. Pete Fountain at the Bateau Lounge, tenía el disco y no paraba de escucharlo con 8 años.
I'm so homesick I can just puke.
I have the clear that he plays on. An
