US 80 used to be I-20 to downtown, and I-20 got rerouted around Dallas, the old section through downtown Dallas and Fort Worth being redesignated as I-30

Our Grandaddy drove 20/80 to Terrell state hospital. Until 1976, I-20 went into downtown Dallas. After 1979, I-20 was diverted west onto 635 around Dallas to Ft. Worth, 80 continued west to downtown Dallas. In 1990, I-20 between Terrell and 635 at Kleberg was completed, 80 continued west to its terminus at I-30 at Loop 12 Buckner Blvd.

You did a great job covering Dallas / Ft Worth area highways. Thank you. I've been on Interstate 20 yet not this part of U.S. 80 or Spur 557.

The roadways look all beat up, neglected....can't even see the yellow and white lines on the roadways. Graffiti all over the concrete barriers....grass coming out of the concrete...USA has nasty, neglected, outdated and decaying infrastructure.

I agree with that, especially in Dallas.

The old US 80. The section where 20 loops over 80 and the T&P tracks onto the original road was completed 1965

I-20 through LA is far worse. The signs sun-bleached, peeling, pavement and bridges still 1960s.
