In 2002 a reverse osmosis water purification system was engineered and The Possum Kingdom Water Supply Corporation came into existence and it supplies high quality drinking water to most areas of PK Lake. The Morris Shepard Dam was constructed to conserve water, and to prevent downstream flooding. Hydroelectricity is no longer being generated at PK.
