  • While digging around trying to find filters that are good to use in the old Berkey stainless steel canisters, I stumbled upon two lawsuits, one class action that involves all of us who purchased Berkey filters. I'm annoyed after reading the court documents. I'm linking to them so you can read for yourself. Now, these court cases haven't been decided officially yet, they are ongoing. We'll have to wait and see. But, if you're eligible for jury duty, you're able to think through the court documents and form tentative conclusions.
I don't trust Berkey or NMC as far as I could throw a Berkey stainless steal canister.
I'm also beginning to seriously doubt Jamie Young's lab, but I can’t come to a solid conclusion. How could his results be so different from an IAPMO accredited lab? Maybe Berkey sent him a filter that was supped up or not representative of the typical quality of the filters they sell. And, why does just about every single one of these company's use him? Even ZeroWater and Clearly Filtered. Thankfully ZW and CF have their own NSF certs independent of his lab for a few contaminants. Idk. Verdict still out on Jaime Young and his lab - maybe good, maybe not.

*I have decided AquaTru is better than AquaSana, mainly because AquaTru is more efficient, wasting less water.

    Watts - amzn.to/3SYZYrA
*NO information on Fluoride removal - I've included it because Dr. Knappe said he uses it in his home, it filters PFAS, and it's affordable
    Pour-through pitchers and dispensers:
    ZeroWater - amzn.to/3SVQr4l
*IS tested, though NOT certified, to remove Fluoride
*Note* about ZeroWater: I recently learned that ConsumerLab.com found high levels of microplastics added to ZW filtered water. They said it could be that the filter needs have water run through it 4x and then the reservoir cleaned before drinking. They also noted that ZeroWater is particularly good at filtering Arsenic, so if that is a concerned with your water, they still recommended using it even with the microplastic issue. My conclusion is still consider using it, but make sure you flush it 4x and then clean and rinse the reservoir thoroughly. I wish all of these companies would quit with plastic and use stainless steel or sturdy glass, but, alas!
    Clearly Filtered - amzn.to/3CTuy02
*IS tested, though NOT certified, to remove Fluoride

When I made this video, I seriously thought maybe a couple of hundred people would watch it, and I felt uncomfortable trying to make money off of it. More people watched it, and I still kind of feel uncomfortable with monetizing - I posted a video about it - • Should I monetize my Y... . But, I decided that as long as I tell the truth, am as transparent as I can reasonably be, don't hurry, and have people in my life holding me accountable, then it's okay to make some money off of my labor. It's not much money (thus far) compared to how much you need to actually buy food, fuel, etc to live. But every little bit helps!
    ...
REPLACE your filters on time according to how much water you use. Remember to do it! They are virtually useless if they go much past their life/service cycle. Yes, it is merely an estimate, YMMV depending on your water quality, but it's the best most of us consumers can do unless we frequently pay to test our water. However you choose to time your replacements: Set reminders for yourself and change the filters!
    ...
I do not expect anyone to pay for my content. But some want to show their appreciation with a gift. If that's you, thank you! Here's how: www.buymeacoffee.com/RobertBeaty

I did a lot of research on filters last year. Everyone on every group recommended berke. We seen online chatter about these lab tests in this lawsuit. Our research led us to the original filter that berkey is basically copied off of. It's called royal doulton. It actually has real lab tests, and is used by relief organizations around the world. None of them use berkey in third world countries. They use royal doulton. Also they are half the price of berkey and alexapure. Made in England, been around over 100 years, and have gotten better over the years as technology has changed. Every time I tried to share this information to online groups, I was attacked by berkey loyal fans.

My experience with class action lawsuits is that you lost $500 and get back $1.27 in compensation. Lawyers get $10 million.

I bought 4 berkey filters as spare survival prep resources. Thinking I had 6000 gallons for one pair. Besides what I was using for my big berkey. I have been using berkey for 15 years. This is truly horrible news. Thank you for discovering this. Do all corporations just lie and cheat and steal?

I have $1500 worth of brand new, unused Berkey products to use for emergencies. I thought my family would have safe water if anything ever happened. I AM SCREAMING MAD!😡

Purchased a Berkey for RV travel. Hadn’t set it up before buying a house that used well water. Wanted to test the well water so we had the test done using the water, the water through the reverse osmosis, and through the Berkey. The RO water tested fine, the well water showed high Arsenic and high nitrites. The water through the Berkey showed the same results as the well. We paid for a worthless expensive water holder. Thank you for your research.

This makes me furious. My husband and I are senior citizens that saved our hard earned money to purchase a Berkey for our home and one for our RV. I then, in the mindset of preparedness, purchased extra filters when they went on sale. Now I am finding out that it was all pointless. Unfortunately, we do not have the extra money to keep buying water filtration systems and we purchased on the Berkey reputation. I always thought it was odd that a filter supposedly lasted so long. There will be a lot of angry customers out there that are in the same situation as us. The world gets greedier and greedier at the cost of “the little people”. Very sad.

I bought 4 berky units for myself and 3 grown children 4 years ago. I never received any class lawsuit notices. I was so adamant about not drinking from the faucet and insisted my family use the berky filtered water. Now I feel foolish and angry

It is all Bread and Circus !! Even class action suits. A couple of years ago, I was part of a class action lawsuit with TD Bank with their crafty bookkeeping thefts and I received a check for $1.88.

Thank you for posting this. My husband is a functional medicine practitioner. We work with individuals that have chronic health issues. We always test their drinking water on them. Every time we have tested water from a Berkey it has been bad for the individual. So, this information is not a surprise. It gives validation to our findings.

I'm so sick of these companies making false claims and cheating people out of there hard earned money. I also have a Berkey but switched to zero water. The sad thing about this is I convinced my mother who had terminal cancer at the time to get a Berkey 🥺. We tried to keep her as health as possible while going through all her treatments giving her one of the purest water filters on the market that we could afford- boy was I wrong😡😤!

The terrible thing is that people are trusting these companies with their health. Sometimes their very lives. I've watched mobile home videos where people openly talk about using their Berkey to filter pond and river water when they're on the road. Nobody in their right mind would EVER just drink pond water that wasn't purified.

This really blows my mind. It took quite a while for my health to improve, and if I had had any sense that this type of lawsuit would have existed in the future or if it had existed in the past I would have had a lawsuit myself. Years ago, I threw away my berkey because the water coming out of it at 1 point dried on a plate and it was rusty. I knew there were really old pipes in the building that I lived in and I was counting on that berkey to protect... I ended up getting sick and I had different types of skin problems, chemical sensitivity, and stomach and gut problems. I figured that if there was rust there was no way it was filtering at the level promised. It took quite a while for my health to improve. Around that time I would go on to different RUclips channels and post comments about the ineffectiveness of the berkey but no 1 ever believed me. As an add-on to this comment, when I saw the rusty material that came from the dried water coming out of the berkey, I did some testing to make sure that the gasgets that tighten the filters in place were sealed well, and that there is no leaks to be sure that water really was passing through the filters.

I cannot say anything about the heavy metal or any other issue in this video, I can only say that the berkey does really well for water in the Philippines. My family consistently had problems with the local water causing diarrhea and other issues. After starting to use the Berkey, there hasn't been a single gastro issue from anyone that drinks only from the berkey.
