I did a lot of research on filters last year. Everyone on every group recommended berke. We seen online chatter about these lab tests in this lawsuit. Our research led us to the original filter that berkey is basically copied off of. It's called royal doulton. It actually has real lab tests, and is used by relief organizations around the world. None of them use berkey in third world countries. They use royal doulton. Also they are half the price of berkey and alexapure. Made in England, been around over 100 years, and have gotten better over the years as technology has changed. Every time I tried to share this information to online groups, I was attacked by berkey loyal fans.
@Paul Edwards Thank You!! Finally your message is getting out. I hope more people read your post and all these Companies get exposed for deceiving people.
Paul, as soon as you said Royal Doulton, I was familiar with the UK company as they have made China for decades. If they went into filtration, it makes sense to me they would do so on the up and up. Since the 80,s the majority of filtration systems have been nothing more than fraud.
@@gabbygabbygirl just do a search for royal doulton filters. They are from England so their test are from their government and labs. Which is usually more stringent than our. Not to mention many relief organizations that help starving people in undevelept countries have tested many different systems, including berkey. Berkey makes claims that no filters in the world can currently remove. I am not saying everyone should go buy a doulton. Please do your own research, you may find something that I didn't. But I would trust filtering through sand and then boiling over a berkey or alexapure
To be fair, often the lawyers have done more work than any of the plaintiffs and the company gets kicked in the ass and stops ripping people off ... so there is that :)
Thank you for posting this. My husband is a functional medicine practitioner. We work with individuals that have chronic health issues. We always test their drinking water on them. Every time we have tested water from a Berkey it has been bad for the individual. So, this information is not a surprise. It gives validation to our findings.
I have a hippie doctor friend that was promoting some other filtration system and then I discovered they were not even certified. Kind of like that homemade oxygenated water. Doctors dont hold the gravity they used to thanks to the AMA and recent events. Hopefully, we find a solution.
I bought 4 berkey filters as spare survival prep resources. Thinking I had 6000 gallons for one pair. Besides what I was using for my big berkey. I have been using berkey for 15 years. This is truly horrible news. Thank you for discovering this. Do all corporations just lie and cheat and steal?
I sure hope they win the lawsuits and then give us a chance to get some more money back on these Berkey so I can get a different system. I just have a reverse osmosis system at my old house until it broke. I am so upset.
@@yadealone hoping to find a decent filter I can place in my Berkey. If not I'll be purchasing another system. Now I know why I saw an increase in the number of Berkey systems for sell on Facebook marketplace a month ago
@@knothead35 guess what that tells us is that it is not only corporations that lie to us. Our fellow consumers, in an effort to recuperate their investments, try to unload something they know is garbage. So, just who can we trust these days? Sadly, no one. Basic decency is dead!
Purchased a Berkey for RV travel. Hadn’t set it up before buying a house that used well water. Wanted to test the well water so we had the test done using the water, the water through the reverse osmosis, and through the Berkey. The RO water tested fine, the well water showed high Arsenic and high nitrites. The water through the Berkey showed the same results as the well. We paid for a worthless expensive water holder. Thank you for your research.
@@Biophotogenesis I only used the black filters and got sick (heavy metals toxicity in my spine and brain in only one month of use). The white filters that remove fluoride and arsenic, are using aluminum oxide to "remove" those. They say that aluminum oxide it is stable and it is not affecting us. But, chemically, when you expose Aluminum oxide to hydrochloric acid (we have it in our stomach), you get Aluminum Chloride and water. It looks the Aluminum Chloride is not that nice though... it is a neurotoxin. Which explains the brain fog that some experience.
This makes me furious. My husband and I are senior citizens that saved our hard earned money to purchase a Berkey for our home and one for our RV. I then, in the mindset of preparedness, purchased extra filters when they went on sale. Now I am finding out that it was all pointless. Unfortunately, we do not have the extra money to keep buying water filtration systems and we purchased on the Berkey reputation. I always thought it was odd that a filter supposedly lasted so long. There will be a lot of angry customers out there that are in the same situation as us. The world gets greedier and greedier at the cost of “the little people”. Very sad.

Feel your pain. As a widow, I didn't have extra money, but thought it was in my best interest. Now I even have a pair of extra filters. I could have gotten another water system for what I paid for spare filters. 😡😠
I’m with you - retired on a fixed income. I bought a second Berkey for my son last Christmas and a month ago purchased extra filters for both of us. I’m struggling with symptoms from an H. pylori diagnosis which I suspect was caused by bacteria from my well that I depended on the Berkey to filter out.
😞 maybe you could recoup $ on fb marketplace or something for some of it but it's hard because not everyone will know about any potential issues; although some are very brand loyal and may not care.
I bought 4 berky units for myself and 3 grown children 4 years ago. I never received any class lawsuit notices. I was so adamant about not drinking from the faucet and insisted my family use the berky filtered water. Now I feel foolish and angry
Thank you for all your hard work. I live in California and purchased a Berkey during the pandemic. Because of California regulations I was not allowed to purchase the larger sized filtration systems. I thought I was doing such a good thing. I watch a lot of homestead channels on RUclips and many of them have a Berkey on their countertop. Get the word out.
Very much appreciate you staying with this issue, Robert. Berkey is a complete scam and has been from day one. It’s just horrible to think of the thousands upon thousands of people giving their hard-earned money and trust to these people. I’m hoping they are held responsible, and folks can at least get some of their money back.
TRUTH! Total scammers selling an exorbitantly overpriced product that doesn't even work while making outlandish claims with absolutely no proof or evidence. Unbelievable!
I have $1500 worth of brand new, unused Berkey products to use for emergencies. I thought my family would have safe water if anything ever happened. I AM SCREAMING MAD!😡
Thank you for continuing to follow up. I have been using and supporting Berkey for 20 years and have heard ppl say the are lying but I discounted it because I wanted to believe. I really appreciate your research. I pray you find something we can buy that works in the containers. I just want hood clean water too. Bless you ❤️
I think the problem with that idea is going to be that the actual NSF-certified, pour-through systems have multiple-stage filters that address different contaminants, and the filter media are often under containment / compacted pressure by the filter housing in order to function properly. Some of the hardest ones to deal with are like PFAS, for example, which I would be very surprised if a Berkey-type filter could deal with in addition to the more common / easier ones. For example, the Zero Water filters send the water through five separate stages. (This fact is one reason I really questioned Berkey's ability to do what they claimed with one simple filter type.) Even if a very technically adroit and inventive person / company comes up with a way to do it, would it be trustworthy without them getting NSF certifications? I think not, and that is an expensive and time-consuming thing to achieve.
@@ReflectedMiles I couldn't read the redacted part of the paperwork, but the "overflow"control was discussed in the paper. I can attest that I have had water spill out when the bottom chamber is full. The water is supposed to sit in the upper chamber until space is available in the lower chamber (not drip out of the sides). Aside from that, I used to distill my water after Eternal changed their aquifer from New Zealand to the US. I live in a large city were the water is heavily chemically processed. I have been happy with the results of the Berkey + flouride filter filtration. I can taste when the filter needs to be changed. What I find intriguing is that the lawsuit was submitted back in August 2021. The Berkey filters are still being sold. I guess they are not afraid....cause that could snowball into a class action suit. I remember back in the day when Vibram Five fingers was sued. Vibram shoes are still sold to this day - they just changed their advertising. Nothing wrong with the shoes. I'll be interested to see how this lawsuit pans out.
Doulton water filter for us with ceramic filter candles. Tested and regulated company and the water tastes great. Highly recommend, transparency is important in a company, thanks for sharing.
I just wanna know how we get our money back. At least that, but also compensation for this horrific lie and greatly endangering our health in this way. Because we TRUSTED their sorry a$$e$.
Have you learned that the milk companies have been lying to us? Remember the commercials "milk does a body good" or "milk is good for your bones"...all lies!!! Also back in the day, doctors used to tell us smoking was good for your health and smoking would make your sore throat feel better. Now we have "doctors" telling us to eat a high fat diet for better health. We can not trust anyone who is trying to make money from us. Maybe we can't trust the man who made this video? The only one I trust is Jesus Christ! You must be born again. (John 3:3)
This really blows my mind. It took quite a while for my health to improve, and if I had had any sense that this type of lawsuit would have existed in the future or if it had existed in the past I would have had a lawsuit myself. Years ago, I threw away my berkey because the water coming out of it at 1 point dried on a plate and it was rusty. I knew there were really old pipes in the building that I lived in and I was counting on that berkey to protect... I ended up getting sick and I had different types of skin problems, chemical sensitivity, and stomach and gut problems. I figured that if there was rust there was no way it was filtering at the level promised. It took quite a while for my health to improve. Around that time I would go on to different RUclips channels and post comments about the ineffectiveness of the berkey but no 1 ever believed me. As an add-on to this comment, when I saw the rusty material that came from the dried water coming out of the berkey, I did some testing to make sure that the gasgets that tighten the filters in place were sealed well, and that there is no leaks to be sure that water really was passing through the filters.
Now I wondering if that’s my husbands problem, the Berkey and his skin issues, he’s had them since about the time we got the Berkey, OMG THIS SUCKS !!!
I've had the same gut/skin problems as well as my berkey filters never passed any of the red dye tests but maybe the very first time, I kept returning them and getting a new set. but after a few days my stomach would be messed up again, Berkey blamed my water supply, so when I asked if they had a lot of complaints from my neighbors that own Berkey they told me that my water was completely different than any of my neighbors 20feet away, I told them they made no sense. I told them I can tell that my dog and I were getting unfiltered water from the Berkey because both me and my dog belch from this areas tap water and it tears my stomach up. So I'm back to buying bottled water. I hate them, because I suffered to save up for their system for about a year, and I and my dog have suffered because we were getting sick from the tap water, that normally we wouldn't drink except that I trusted berkey's "testing". I'm angry too, and I hate them for stealing a year or two of my life.
@@barbaragoodman1789 I am so sorry to hear that. Cetaphil Restoraderm applied after a shower helped me over time. But knowing what I know now, vaseline and bepanthen applied after a shower, might work even better.
I am so glad to have found this channel a week ago. I have been using a Berkey for about a year now. I am moving so thought now would be a good time to change filters. No way that is going to happen now. Keep up the good work and let us know what the best filters out there are as you become aware of them. Thank You...👍✌️
I have been studying the subject about the water filtration systems. I was looking at the Berkey . From what I can tell, there is not a one filter system that addresses the contaminants in water - especially removing forever chemicals. What Berkey and most survival filtration systems are known for , are the removal of bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Which can be deadly by just drinking once. Even then, I would use caution to boil the water. As far as the chemicals, not even reverse osmosis or zero filters are capable to remove all contaminants for the life cycle of the filter. It is a good habit to check water quality and change filters as needed. Even before estimated due date. It all depends on the contaminants in your area. And not all areas are contaminated the same. Now the reason I was looking at Berkey vs other filters. Is the fact that helps keep water ionized. Vs plastic containers. The stainless steel is easier to disinfect and reuse since plastic is a harvester for pathogens as those I described. I will look at the info you offer. But I am concerned that the info here misrepresents and give expectations for one filtration system to eliminate every pathogen when you clearly stated that those filters are specialized and undergo specific testing for approval and labeling. If you are expecting the Berkey or any filter , to filter biowarfare or chemical warfare , you might want to study the subject more deeply and buy those filters separately. But survival systems that you are disappointed with were intended for areas where people are out in the wild and in need of safe drinking water. It has saved lives around the world. It will take more than one lab to test all filters equally to see if even Apple to apples are being assessed. Which from my research- it’s not. I hope you are legit and unbiased concerning this product. Because it has a lot of good reviews minus. But I’m willing to look at your info.
We all have to be open minded, anything is possible when it come to something like this to be talked about. I come to the conclusion yrs ago that I don't truth anything or anyone as far as I can throw...and that's not very far. Peace✌️ on earth 🌎
No filter is perfect. Our water tastes gross. Our berkey made it taste better. We just changed to Filterlogic cartridges, and they seem to be ok so far. Time will tell. Filterlogic/Waterdrop are NSF tested at least, lol.
Man! Thank you so much for this valuable information. I have been using Berkey for only 2 years. I was at the point of just about ordering new cartridges again. Wow! Now I have to rethink the whole process and pray for you to come up with a decent filter. Thank you for all your hard work and research myself and others really appreciate it. I do hope you keep up a RUclips channel. Peace and love and good health to you and your family from Tennessee.
This must be why I have such a high failure rate with my ferments bc they end up smelling like toxic chlorine. Thanks, Robert. I appreciate all your work on this.
I cannot say anything about the heavy metal or any other issue in this video, I can only say that the berkey does really well for water in the Philippines. My family consistently had problems with the local water causing diarrhea and other issues. After starting to use the Berkey, there hasn't been a single gastro issue from anyone that drinks only from the berkey.
They might be trashing this brand because too many people were benefiting from it. None of these companies can be trusted to tell the truth, one way or the other.
Its definitely better than no filter. The entire reason people is mad is they cost almost 200$ for one set of filters and they apparently do the same exact thing as filters that cost a fraction of the cost,
@@vward4871 thats my thoughts. Mike Adams tests all of that stuff in his own lab and found Berkey to be one of the top best. so i will discredit this video.
I'm so sick of these companies making false claims and cheating people out of there hard earned money. I also have a Berkey but switched to zero water. The sad thing about this is I convinced my mother who had terminal cancer at the time to get a Berkey 🥺. It is all Bread and Circus !! Even class action suits. A couple of years ago, I was part of a class action lawsuit with TD Bank with their crafty bookkeeping thefts and I received a check for $1.88.
Class action lawsuits aren’t about the plaintiffs getting a lot of money, they are about punishing a company for hurting people and deterring other companies from doing the same garbage to us.
@@ReflectedMiles the lawyers obviously are not handling these cases for free. They spend a lot of time working up their cases. @@maryl8132 It is the magnificence of the sums offered that are one of the great incentives for "ambulance chasing" and the US being the most litigious country in the world. As one observer put it, the US tends to have just two solutions to any type of misconduct: 1) More and longer jail sentences for more of its citizens than any other country; 2) More and larger civil lawsuits and judgments than any other country. So the result should then be that there are lower rates of crime and civil misconduct than in other developed countries, right, since the point is deterrence--but that has never been the outcome of these cultural practices and public policies.

The terrible thing is that people are trusting these companies with their health. Sometimes their very lives. I've watched mobile home videos where people openly talk about using their Berkey to filter pond and river water when they're on the road. Nobody in their right mind would EVER just drink pond water that wasn't purified. People have been duped into spending way too much money for a lie that can make people very sick.
I have a question so if Berkey is not being honest. What about Alexa pure? Is there a legit water filtration system that if things get bad and people need to filter water that is safe? This all makes me so mad. People can't be just throwing their money around some of us live on fixed incomes and so when we buy something we're trying to trust in a product that is going to keep us safe or our loved ones.

I dont use water filters but I read the Burkey claims. They seem to CYA with the claims of "up to 99.99%" and "up to X gallons" Their claim holds up because if it only removes 50% That falls well into "up to" as claimed. "Up to" includes everything from 0 to 99.99%
I used Black Berkey filters for 1 1/2 years expecting a high rate of filtration. 6000 gallons sounded exceptional yet the water never tasted better than water directly from the tap. Thanks for the update, I have never been happy with my berkey, oddly enough as cra cra as Cali is they've outlawed it because they won't get the proper third party testing done and we know why now.
California doesn't allow the big stainless steel berky but they allow the plastic one. I know from experience. I wanted to buy one but the big Becky hadn't passed the testing. Idk what makes the plastic model better. Nothing, I suspect.
I sourced Berkey filters FROM Berkey and both sets failed at the base, where the silicon meets the plastic. Berkey filters have become garbage. I couldn’t believe how poor quality their filters have become. Many others online have been reporting the same thing. Think of how many have gotten sick, depending on their filters.
Good work on this. The same thing is going on in the supplements/vitamins industry. It is just... abysmal. Finding a 98% discrepancy in some supplement brands is commonplace, but the FDA doesn't do jack about it. It is dangerous and criminal. I hope the class-action goes forward.

@@uptoolate2793 Nope, I still despise plastic. I've decided to build my own out of glass and stainless steel. I'm even going to make my own filtering system.
I always get a putrid taste from zero or any store bought filter system. I have used Berkey for 2 years and use it only to filter our city water because it has so much chlorine. Once through the Berkey and it takes like spring water. I’m disappointed to find out Berkey is not what it is advertised to be but I will continue to use it on my drinkable city water. It’s worth it for me as without Berkey my city water tastes putrid. I do not regret buying my Berkey.
As I have posted on other Berkey YT sites, I had a rash of catastrophic failures of the black elements I had purchased from New Millenium Concepts thru the Berkey site and or on Amazon. "Prepping" purchases is very fertile ground indeed for companies to sell you stuff, knowing that it may be years before you actually use their product, and by then it will be too late to recover damages. I suspect the freeze dried food industry relies on this tactic as well. (Maybe for the exception of Mountain House which promotes sale of soon-to-be-used camping food and not just for future long term prep storage.) In other words these companies are selling you "insurance" that you think is backed up by solid products that do as advertised. This has been why I keep some time honored hand pump Katadyn Water Filters that are have been used day to day in more real outdoor third world conditions, where if they did not work, there would be immediate alarm bells sounded by travelers who were getting sick. I sense that most Berkey users, myself included, are keyboard preppers and while we may use Berkeys in daily use, we are using them as a false assurance that our filtered water is OK, but the reality is that these Berkeys are not being put to the test, so that is why no one finds out that they don't do as adverised. Only those who face challenging water issues that require immediate solutions may go out and really check the efficacy of water purification, especially if the water still tastes bad. So the vast majority of us go on not realizing how we are being scammed, unless of course like in my case, your black elements have such poor quality control issues that the plastic hub has a major leak where it was supposed to glued onto the bottom of the black element with a water tight seal, and the water just visibly can be seen pouring through. And then there are You Tubers who jump on ther bandwagon and exploit the "confirmation bias" of these keyboard preppers that having a Berkey means you are smart and understand the importance of clean water and ways to filter it. Becasue we are dealing with such a small sample size of actual users who are putting their Berkeys to the test, we have entered the realm of Bayesian statititical analysis. It makes these YT preppers seem knowlegdeable when all they have done is jump on the bandwagon for YT clicks. The other mantra is that you have to have thousands of rounds of ammo, when the reality is that if a situation ever arose in which you needed thousands of rounds of ammo, you would probably not live to fire your first 20 rounds!
I was looking at a Berkey and a few others, but have waited due to price. I’m SO glad I did! I never thought to check the NSF ratings! Thank you so much! I’m now thinking I’ll buy one of the other two you mentioned and run my refrigerator filtered water through it and if I had to get alternate water due to an issue, I’ll boil and then use the one I buy. Hopefully that will be good enough. Well, I know for a fact now it will be better than a Berkey! 😂. I’m also going to save a ton of money now, thanks for your diligence and sharing your information with the world.
In a class action lawsuit, you are usually notified about the lawsuit and given an opportunity to opt out. I was never notified that as a purchaser of a Berkey I was included in the lawsuit. Are only buyers in the state in which the suit was filed included? Also, any monies obtained in the suit are laughably minimal, the majority of the money going to the individual who initiated the suit, the attorneys, and the administrators ot the case. Most buyers will be compensated only about enough to buy a Big Mac.
Part of the problem with these filters may be that the top container stays dry after the water drips through to the bottom container. It stays dry as long as it takes to use the water from the bottom container, could be months. The literature that comes with the (Alexa Pure in my case) says the filter cartridge should stay wet all the time. In fact they ship the cartridge in a sealed foil bag with water in it. The tests they do in the lab are probably with continuously wet cartridges. The system may be OK if you use the water at a fast rate, but not OK if you use it infrequently.
And the lawyers will handle all the money that is recovered if their lawsuit is successful. I don't know whether in this case they are being paid on a contingency basis as Plaintiff Lawyers like in a medical malpractice case, where if they lose the case, they have lost their time and money, but where if they win, they collect the lion's share of the payout. I suspect this lawsuit is on a contingency basis. I get it that they have to be rewarded for taking risk on a contingency case, but if the legal system is supposed to benefit the consumer , then even if the lawsuit is successful, one thing is almost certain, you the consumer won't see a dime of the award money. The verdict and "award" will be the same to you whether the lawyers win or lose their case;. ZERO. And Berkey is probably paying their legal defense team by the hour, and maybe that is why their prices are so outrageous! LOL. So you see, whether you the hapless members of the public ever get justice is purely SECONDARY. What matters is the preservation of the parasitic legal collective: From the court clerks getting their paychecks and pensions, to the lawyers on both sides, the judges, the judicial oversight review committees, and as we see nationally, the preservation of the corrupt DOJ and other rogue agencies of the government like the CIA, FBI, NSA etc.
@@hzilla5550 Nolo and other sites on the web say the lawyer’s contingency fee is typically around 30 to 40%. That is high, but so is the risk the lawyer is taking if you don’t win. The lawyer has to pay the salaries and overhead of everyone on your case out of their own pocket. We all complain about greedy lawyers, but they are a necessary defense system against the power of governments and corporations.
So, the obvious question is, is there a water filter system out there that IS reliable? I am so glad I didn’t buy one, but two of my kids did, and they were just trying to prepare for an emergency for their families. For their children. How disappointing.
Seems like it would be natural for Robert to create the best replacement Berkey water filter cartridges by partnering up or working with one of the better water filter companies out there today? I Got my Berkey back in 2014 and I noticed after a few years or so the filter cartridges changed, I base this off of how often I had to prime the filter and the sound they made while priming plus how long they held the prime. The newer ones do not hold a full prime for more than 1 hour or two, the old ones held it for 1 to 3 weeks, the new ones are a lot more porous, they prime easier and differently. I am looking for the best water I can get, I do not care if it is counter top, under the counter or whole house or all 3, I would love to know what to do and get so I end up with the purest and healthiest water without using Reverse Osmosis or plastic containers.
I don't have a Berkey, your video was randomly recommended to me by the algorithm. but I've been following your videos bc this case intrigues me, I think this is important.
4:28 this makes me question if his information is correct. I don’t think testing labs just throw up their hands and quit, before completing the tests they are being paid to perform. If he is exaggerating, then he is guilty of the very thing he’s mad about.
So why can't I find any content on the internet re a class action lawsuit against Berkey? All I can find is people saying there is one, but no original content reporting on one.
A lot of people have sent off samples to have them checked and they were fine did you ever consider that big companies that sell bottled water might be behind trying to smear Berkey. Many people have moved towards getting their own water like Berkey systems and these big companies are not happy with this let’s think a little bit outside the box here In addition who is sending off samples of the all the bottled water in stores Which most people described as glorified tapwater
I can’t find my original comment but promised I would report back after having the water from my Berkey tested by a local lab. We’re on well water; I simultaneously had samples from the unfiltered kitchen tap and filtered refrigerator water tested as well, and the results are perplexing! The kitchen tap showed 3 ppb arsenic and no other abnormalities. The filtered water from the refrigerator showed 300 ppb arsenic and nothing else abnormal. The Berkey showed NO arsenic but was positive for coliform bacteria! Of note is that the source of the filtered water is the kitchen tap, and I changed the filters in both the Berkey and the refrigerator immediately before taking the samples. Why would bacteria be present in the Berkey but not in the tap water used to fill it?
Absolutely preposterous, appears the only thing that is effectively being filtered by Berkey are high percentages of consumer dollars! Thanks Robert for another eye opener.

I appreciate you sharing this with us! We literally put so much trust in this company. Very disappointed.
Wow! Thank you for this info. Where can I find the lab test results? I hope he sees your comment.

My experience with class action lawsuits is that you lost $500 and get back $1.27 in compensation. Lawyers get $10 million.

Does the filter have graphene oxide in it? That would play right into their agenda with what's going on in the world today.

This makes me furious. My husband and I are senior citizens that saved our hard earned money to purchase a Berkey for our home and one for our RV.

I like your well thought-out comment.

They are starting to put Graphene Oxide in the tap water and it cannot be filtered out by any system. I have a Berkey but I have been drinking bottled water and now I am wondering the the housing is even stainless steel? A magnet will not stick to mine. I just trioed it. A magnet should stick.
@@Clairbear1222 I have heard that graphine oxide is in some coffee's too. Nothing can filter it from water?! A magnet won't stick to my Berkey nor to any stainless cookware in the kitchen but it adheres to an enameled Descanco skillett.
@@gretchenburton7184 I thought I was crazy, I was so brainwashed by all these Berkey people that I was convinced it was good for me even though my throat was raw and the water smelled funny and certainly didn't taste much better.
Unfortunately I believe this to be true of many products we use and many services, it's going to be a rude awakening.
Reading the class action suit right now. Thank you for providing it for us. As I read, I am just getting angrier and angrier. Found my receipt from when I ordered it in Jan 2020. Paid $275 for the Royal Berkey and an additional $120 for a set of 2 filters. That was and still is a lot of freakin money for what is basically a stainless steel can and a few lumps of charcoal. I believed the hype. Everyone on every survival forum and YT channel was pushing how great the Berkey is. Took me years to bite the bullet and get one. Regretted it almost immediately. It's a daily pain in our butts over here. Everything we cook, drink, or can we are constantly worried is the Berkey full? Did it filter the water we put in it yesterday? Will we have enough to make a pot of coffee. Do the damn filters need scrubbed again? I just wish I could get my money back. And imagine how many millions of people have spent this same amount of money and more, on their useless filters. I am so glad I never talked any family members into buying one.
On SS. Saved up for months for a Travel Berkey. I have not felt the taste was very good. Used to drink bottled distilled water and the Berkey filtered water does not taste as good. This is highly upsetting. Will be watching this closely. Thank you for posting.
This is very eye opening and it’s very disturbing news when owning and trusting in it. They need to be held accountable for sure!
I dont use water filters but I read the Burkey claims. They seem to CYA with the claims of "up to 99.99%" and "up to X gallons"
Their claim holds up because if it only removes 50% That falls well into "up to" as claimed. "Up to" includes everything from 0 to 99.99%
I’m spreading the word. Interesting topic, and also wow thought I was protecting my kids, apparently only wasting hundreds on trash!
I used Black Berkey filters for 1 1/2 years expecting a high rate of filtration. 6000 gallons sounded exceptional yet the water never tasted better than water directly from the tap. If it seems too good to be true it usually is. THANK YOU FOR EXPOSING BERKEY AND REVEALING THE TRUTH!!! I purchased the original set up which included 2 black filters and later purchased replacement filters. All in about $400.
Exact same story as you. How do we get our money back?
Strange our water tastes so much better after going through the berkey..
@@cjmonster same. I’m convinced many of these people never did the red dye test to make sure they didn’t have any leaks and that their filters were on correctly. There’s no way this many people have issues if they bought genuine products. Not to mention the lawsuit says many bought their items off Amazon which is KNOWN for counterfeit. Many also discredit the fact that charcoal filters can filter out some nasty things…. always has and it’s basic science!
This is crazy and I’m outraged at this company!! I been trying to heal my body and trusted the Burkey would clean my water.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts researching and sharing the information you've found. I bought a Berkey water filter about a year ago, and have been going down the rabbit hole looking for replacement filters after finding out about the lawsuit and block of sales of the Berkey filters.
I’ve had mine for a long time and did all the research!!!! They lied I’m furious! Our health is the biggest reason we bought this
Im in the same exact boat. I feel so let down.
Yeah, that’s messed up. We’ve been using berkey for 10 years thinking it was doing a great job. 😡😡😡
I bought 2 replacement filters for mine. My TDS meter showed NO improvement whatsoever. Scammers, for sure, so the canister is worthless now.
I bought two replacement filters for mine and got scammed. My TDS meter shows no improvement whatsoever.
Wow I bought one sad to say & I bought extra filters. The water taste better than my picture filter, better than my Britain’s on sink filter. My city’s water must not be bad. With this filter I can drink the water without the smell of bleach & no upset stomach

It's so frustrating when you're trying to do the right thing for your family but all the agencies that should be protecting you are stuffing their pockets and lying. Sounds like he was allegedly paid off to say it passed with flying colors. After I got mine and I saw the filters I was questioning how can it filter out the huge list of stuff, but I trusted them anyways. I'm so angry!!
Alot of the brands have changed their marketing claims. I know because I am a biochemist and the FDA and NSF is cracking down!
Neither of them are honest !
@@cherylhausam9981 Really? So if the NSF labs aren't the standard, what is? Conspiracy theorist / prepper declarations? The recent water filter results from Project Farm suggest that actual NSF certification might have some serious meaning in practical, real-world performance.
@@cherylhausam9981 At the present time I would trust FDA to run a test and get accurate results. However, they won’t necessarily make those results highly accessible or invest the resources to create a layman friendly interface to them. If by NSF, you mean National Science Foundation, I would have a similar answer. In fact I would trust the NSF more because it’s harder (but not impossible) for politicians to interfere with NSF science.
FDA, nsf are part of the problem.
FDA IS CORRUPT.
I am going to send these videos you’ve done on berke or whatever their famous name is to everyone I know that has one or moving in that direction.
Thank you for all of the hours and of your personal time that you have done in gathering this very important information. My
gratefulness and thanks to you is HUGE!
You’ve done amazing work and have stayed diligent, which you’ve done far better than I and so many others ever could.
I am not trying to be redundant, but I can’t help myself to say, thank you, in closing.
Where do we find the info on the supplements?
@@beckyferru google it! This is old and new information it goes all the way back to the 70's-2022.
You're right, there's lots of information out there on this subject. Just wondering if there was a specific source that they found helpful.
FDA finally put a black box warning on breast implants but took them fifty years. Clearly FDA doesn't do much.
Yea, supplements are one of the largest and biggest scams ever !
God bless you. I am a female you. I want clean water. I've been using Zero since 2017. I despise plastic. Today I almost bought a Berkey. Then I thought to investigate some more. I'm glad I did!
Plastic doesn't look so bad anymore, does it?
@@uptoolate2793 Nope, I still despise plastic. I've decided to build my own out of glass and stainless steel. I'm even going to make my own filtering system.
Zero also has a glass water container part and you can buy all metal parts to go inside
@@gbmarie836 doesn’t chlorine taste and smell naturally go away from just sitting in a container? Maybe it’s that and not the berky.
So glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharing your research! So important we are all aware of what businesses are up to.
The Doulton ceramic filters are absolutely the best. They can be used in the berky containers.
Good stuff!
I am questioning this as well. I never received any communication regarding a class action lawsuit. Mine was a gift however registered in my name.
I got diarrhea after drinking creek water filtered through my Berkey
Part of the problem with these filters may be that the top container stays dry after the water drips through to the bottom container. It stays dry as long as it takes to use the water from the bottom container, could be months.
The literature that comes with the (Alexa Pure in my case) says the filter cartridge should stay wet all the time. In fact they ship the cartridge in a sealed foil bag with water in it. The tests they do in the lab are probably with continuously wet cartridges.
The system may be OK if you use the water at a fast rate, but not OK if you use it infrequently.
Berkey has a cult like following.
We are with you Robert. We are one.
So what is a replacement that does do what they say?
You don’t have to go to court if you’re in a class action lawsuit the lawyers handle everything
I also have been using Berkey for 15 yrs. thinking I was doing good. So mad!
Fell very angry! That's a good show of what's wrong in America, companies lie every day and get away with it.

So, the obvious question is, is there a water filter system out there that IS reliable? I am so glad I didn’t buy one, but two of my kids did, and they were just trying to prepare for an emergency for their families. For their children. How disappointing.
Please keep us updated on a legit filter replacement.
Soooo, what's a good cartridge replacement?
Thank you for your work and research. The facts really blow me away.

What's the alternative to Berkey?

A lot of people have sent off samples to have them checked and they were fine did you ever consider that big companies that sell bottled water might be behind trying to smear Berkey. Many people have moved towards getting their own water like Berkey systems and these big companies are not happy with this let’s think a little bit outside the box here
In addition who is sending off samples of the all the bottled water in stores Which most people described as glorified tapwater
If you want safe water, stop voting for deregulation, fracking and defunding the EPA. Lol
