well done! glad to see this happen - keep up the good work!
the thorny croft terrapin never seen tings about that any where ,only in a book onWW2 vehicles one lil picture .
@@timsweet3224 terrapin used in the sheldt landings, not many pics, also in the pic is a neptune a gb version of the lvt4 buffalo
Nice to see you at 10K now. I'm new to the channel, and rate it very highly. Great work!!

Great video. Sucks that none of the Alectos survive.
At least 2 tetrarch survive the war
I'd love to see a series of videos on the later Vicker's MBTs, Mk.3, 3i, 4, 7, 7/2!
Vickers Mk1 -3 up soon, quite a big vid that one. Might split it between Mk1 and 2 then 3, 3N, 3B, 3I 3M.
woohoo! my name up in lights - again! haha thanks, ed! this was most informative! hm, my idea today for a video might be jungle-clearing vehicles of WW2, but there might not be enough photos available for presentation. how about ecclesiastical-named vehicles? some might require their own video, but how about the deacon? was that the first? thanks again!
Okay which one of you jokers painted the Deacon......Blue?
6:55 'And this is bollocks' --- Something I think David Fletcher would like to say sometimes :-D
Bollocks or The dogs bollocks ?
@@richardj9016 Good example of how a word can change meaning dependent on the context
Can you do a video about the Archer self propelled anti tank gun? As it is a very unusual DESIGN.
Fascinating story, thank you for sharing.
Big up the Farnborough shout out
Fascinating technical word ( ballocks )
Thanks for such a brilliant history lesson of this forgotten vehicle.
Superb content..just subscribed. The Chieftain led me here..😁
It looks like a hull with great potential as an early APC. Either wheeled or tracked.
a refreshing set of docs not continually telling the wrong info and repeated stories, like no 2pr HE rounds ect nice lot of not seen before pics as well.

Priceless and extremely rare video on RUclips.
I would love to have some more of these instead of the stupid grey hounds vs king tiger myths out there.
Very neat stuff, thanks.
Thanks, your videos are priceless.
The phrase "groundnut scheme" rises from the back of my memory....
Glad to be subscriber number 1000
Huzzah!✌️
Intereting Video and Vehicle
i love the alecto in WT its very fun
I always wonder if they had been available for the Arnhem drop, would they have made a difference, especially when they were trying break through to Bridge as resistance stiffened. Cleary all the other factors that impacted on operation would have still be there, but a few Alectos fire HE in the direct fire roll might even the odds a little.
Arnhem was a mess from the start.
They may have helped in if employed as you mentioned but I'm sure a few of the 6lb versions would have been appreciate to keep the German armour back. The tow 6lbs were good but not easy to move to a new firing position.
"... and this is bollocks"
lol - is that a tech term? 😆😆😆
Absolutely. Ed has plenty of useful tech terms; however, as of right now - some of them are in the archives. 🧐
Sojourn colloquially known as fubar
More 'bollocks' debunked, great job Ed! ;)
I spat my brew out,,, "total bollocks" is a real British Army tech term for,,, well bollocks lol
Good stuff
Imagine these running about doing recce jobs with a 6pdr or a 25pdr to use against enemy snoopers.
What a great looking machine
excellent vid.
Can you review the IS-7?
Great video.
Two points.
The British army was ridiculous slow at development of new vehicles. The need for a self propelled anti tank gun was identified within days of fighting beginning in 1940. How much of a game changer would large numbers of the 6lb armed Alecto's deployed to North Africa have been? Mobile, hard hitting and extremely easy to conceal.
Secondly, pronunciation.
Like everyone else on RUclips, you say "Els'wick" when it's pronounced "Els'ick" with the silent 'w'.
I have not heard of that case mate centurion before. I cant find that much about it.
A video about that would be fun. I can't find any info on it either.
@@KingTrygon I cant even find that drawing he used
@@thatchris1626 uber-rare, SP4. there will be a vid as it got as far as 1 made, however I need to root out a few more pics yet as part from plans an bits I need some better bits.
ed francis suprised WoT hasn’t pulled this out for a premium
ed francis I look forward to the video
Nice commuter vehicle .
You’re doing for tanks what Ed Nash is doing for aircraft.
Crack on!
You need to do a video on the British Archer. Such as the one you mentioned in the video.
i do indeed
A command version with a Vickers machine gun would be cool.
If i wanted to build one, where would i find technical plans ?
Aaah the use of "bollox's" to clarify the point once and for all!
Is it plan to do some french tanks ? Like AMX 50, AMX 13 or Lorraine 40t ?
in time yes, down to how many images I've got, can get from archives trips
@@edfrancis712 Ok thanks for the answer
Do you plan to cover the TOG 2? It's a very misunderstood vehicle :)
indeed it is!
yes the TOGS will be done at some point :)
@@edfrancis712 glad you said TOGS as noone ever talks about TOG 1
I used to love Oliver Postgates Pogles Wood my favourite character was of course TOG!
Yeah, it doesn't help that some of the fan boys made up things about it, and these 'ideas' spread in a certain community. *cough*
blackpool airport the alecto was parked im sure it were next to the light tank .
Could you do a video on the British "Neptune" LVT?
on my list to do :)
I do love your means of addressing inaccuracies... "THIS IS BOLLOX..." - coffeesnot moment there.
Ecto-1
The poor old driver looks a bit exposed. Not sure the plastic windscreen would improve his sense of vulnerability too much!
Hey what type of tank is this tank destroyer or self propelled gun?
nobodt truly knew, Alecto is one of those oddities, in that it was neither a true SPG or TD or LT ot anythign but a sort of jack of all trades 'thing'. - at no point does anyone faction even want to claim it as theirs.
A Brit stug?
Obviously I gotta say it but "gaijin when?"
4:50 4400 rpm? that sounds a bit too much...
The russians developed the ASU-57, very similar, to support their paras
WOT has Alecto's ...
yes, it was an anti tank weapon but then the tankers complained it was too good and they switched it to an artillery weapon.
@@zebradun7407 I just un-installed recently - I remember it with a 2 pounder ...
and it looks like they ran into the same crap when they tried all diffrent gubbins when makin the british airborne/mountain light gun 95mm .
and im sure one was parked in the corner next to a light tank at blackpool an alecto i mean ,and sure one was the back end of them cocklers truck tractor things wat used to be parked on the front in morecombe ,blackpool,fleetwood..
Great sighting report! When was that please?
@@peterfeeney721 about the half track trucks ? man they were old trucks with bren gun carrier tracks and one had alecto type tracks and wheels .It was the late 70s till mid eighties i saw them parked up with canvas covers on the front at morecombe blackpool etc .
@@peterfeeney721 they were ,AEC and one looked like a thirties truck? burford i think one was ?
Cheers, Tim. Grateful for a timescale. Guess the Alectro will have been scrapped by now.
@@peterfeeney721 yes i saw them light tanks at the back at blackpool air port even got lifted into the lancaster .but i have a book about army trucks and that burford could have been one of the half type tracks they made .???
Geeze. Take the gun out and use the chassis as a far more mobile Universal Carrier.
Ah . . .CT26. Makes more sense than the rest.
"Eccentric" the word that destroyed us Brits.
" Harry Hopkins", named after an american, and yet, the most british thing ive ever heard.
"And this is bollocks...." C' Mon - tell us what you really think...
Good vid... on a piece of junk!
Oddly, I got massie scores on WoT with this vehicle....
So a now shit hole Hotel helped make a wonderfully rediculous SPG. Typical really.
