I'm glad it's helped, nothing worse then a car that just won't start, definitely the way to go to move it around where you need it, as stated it's a temporary fix to get the car moving.
My son bought a VZ for his first car. 2005 Lumina auto. Where did you get all your info from to work out what to do? What forums gave you the best information? thank you.
Hey, I'm on my second VZ. For any and all issues that have come up in either of my VZ's I've found the forums.justcommodores site to be super helpful. Google VZ commodore forums. It should be the first to pop up
I fixed one for someone - easy fix was to start it with a bypass button on the starter relay … Gives low fuel , gearbox fault and something else .. wire up with a fuse- button inside car - battery power - fuse - straight to 86 terminal on starter relay Start .. with button switch off Start with key - all good .. Saved a lot of money .. Anyone can try this . It’s not a repair but it works fine . I think the ecu is faulty and the can bus module - no parts available for these cars .. 👀 so… Just do this . Saved $2000 k about 😅 Cheers .
Hi mate, definitely a cheap away around the issue. But it's not a fix, you'll still have engine lights and in my case my transmission was shifting very poorly. The way it was shifting and driving would eventually cause more issues down the road
So the issues came up with the scans they did? I have similar issue with my vz right now I drove it then 12 hrs later doesn't start no sound etc. I took to mechanic try looked for 4 hours and can't find any issue. Using diagnosis tools etc. And all coming up empty handed
Hey mate, thanks for watching, these cars seem to have a number of different issues, what I was told from a holden dealership when they plugged their computer in, they couldn't get any communication from the ecu, so they also tested the wiring loom,
You can only start these things with a bent paper clip for so long, as the ECU is about to die & needs replacing. You'll need your 4 digit security code & have this done by a service agent with a G Scan or Tech2 scan tool. This time, RUclips can only help you so much!
Yep, agree, I shared this because my commodore died in the most un convenient time. This video shows an emergency way to start and move the car to be repaired (which I do) my ecu wasn't replaced but repaired, small wires or wire tracks in the ecu brake apart from loads of heat cycles over its life. Thanks for watching
@lgsa7983 how much was it to repair the ecu? Haven't watched the whole video yet. Mines just started to do the "let's blank for a minute" when I go to start it but it's at random and it's fine once it's turned on..
Cheers for the video, I have a 2005 VZ SSZ Crewman with a LS1 5.7L in it . same thing happened only mine cranks over & fires but shuts down straight away. I'm planning on sending mine away to be repaired can you tell me the compant it was sent to, Was it Injectronics in Melbourne . as I said she cranks over but wont keep running, no engine light on dash & have lost all my gauge cluster & has a very low fuel alarm but I know tank is full, fuel pump is working & has 350kpa or 50 psi at rail. Holden has a lot to answer for, this is a shit idea. wished I'd known about the starter relay trick, as it cost me $411 to get it tilt trayed to the local Tumut Toyota depot then another $880 back to Canberra where she still sits. Been doing a lot of research just like you. Again appreciate your video. I do love my crewman & I'd like to see her live again.
Thanks for info. I have warning with fuel guage being low which my car is and had service light been on for awhile as it is due for oil change. Anyone needs to change ecu find someone that sells second hand ecu. You may have to get a body control so it can read each other. I already got one ecu before. Sad it looks like i have to get another.
Hi mate, hope my quick tip to start helps you. My ecm was sent to a business called "cooldrive auto parts" located in Adelaide, they don't deal with the public though, I had to use a third party mechanic to deal with them, also sorry your having these issues. They are not fun
Hay I sort of have same problem in morning go jump in my car take a lil bit to start up go for drive turn the car of and won’t start straight away it’s like it waiting for it to cool down again won’t start till 10 minutes later any idea??
Hi mate, in my case my transmission wasn't shifting correctly, very harsh so no doubt it'll cause issues if I used it like this. As for the ecu it was already damaged... I only used this method to drive the car to be repaired, thanks for watching
@@lgsa7983 yep mine the same. Because it starts normally once you’ve jumped at the relay Stop engine and start with key after 5 or so seconds and you might get normal gear box and other issues back.
Hello friend, I'm Brazilian and I have exactly the same problem as you, as this car has few units here almost nobody knows how to work with it, could you tell me if it's necessary to change the module
Or have you fixed for this problem??Could you explain to me what I can do to fix my car, I'm lost asking my Australian friends for help here because no one can solve it
Hi mate and thanks for your message. The small wires in the ecu module (front of motor) break over time. You can send the ecu away to be fixed. A few places in Australia do this work. Because the ecu have codes in them and you need specialised computers to code in new ecus to you car, you might find this difficult from where you are in the world. I think your only real option is to send your ecu to Australia for repairs. So that you keep your unit and no need for specialised computers. Any more questions feel free to ask

I think yours is full cooked tho but mine was popping up with the same codes but I just got a new relay and it worked thank fuck or just wasn’t worth the 1-2k fix when I bought it for 2.5k
my dad brought one with 165xxx and she's dead to to the world. she sounds like she just wants to start but never fires up. plugs and coils seem fine, and we did put some fuel into the intake chamber to try to get it to at least fire but still doesn't want to even idle for a second all am getting is service car any ideas anyone??
Yea its not fun when it happens, have you tried this method on starting it? I ended up selling my vz, great car and looks nice but constantly spending money to keep it on the road.
@@troycollett8540 mine was intermitent for a couple of months and then zero. If the fuel gauge reads zero when it won’t start and you get no sound whatever when using the key this is a good indication it’s the ECU.
All Depending, I was quoted just shy of 2k to have the ecu replaced. I'm sure sure more places would and can do cheaper, but seeing these cars are anywhere from free to 5k or there abouts. So it's almost half or over what the cars are worth
I just used your technique on neighbors car and it worked 👌🏻 thanks
