Freddie Starr (real name Frederick Fowell), arguably the VERY BEST all round entertainers the UK has ever seen! The man could tell jokes, dance, sing, impersonate, and even do his own stunts! One in a million he was, and much missed! RIP Freddie!
Absolute legend, despite his mucking around he actually had an incredible singing voice and if you can find clips of him singing with Elvis’ backing group you will be VERY pleasantly surprised. RIP Freddie 🙏🏼 your end was tragic and you deserved better from the British press .
I dont think I've ever seen anything he's done and not been in tears with laughter. He was an incredible comedian. His Mick Jagger impression is hilarious, the interview with Parkinson and Muhammed Ali, I could go on. Just such a funny, funny guy
@jamespasifull in the Ali interview you can see he genuinely enjoyed that joke as well as nearly filling his pants so im not surprised they went on to become friends. It was just so brilliantly done
He Loved Elvis Presley ,Great impersonator of Elvis ,He even had the Journaires sing with him -Elvis ."They even said Freddie was the finest Elvis Im personator of Elvis .
My parents took me to see him in the 80's, I remember his story about going to the butchers to buy a dozen sausages, he didn't have a bag so he put them down his trousers and when he got home he had 13....the way he told it was hilarious!
So pleased this came up on my Feed, it is what I needed today. Freddie Star was a funny Man, he lived to make people laugh. What happened to him at the end of his life was a total disgrace. R.I.P Freddie ⭐
Freddie was fantastic when freddie was on TV you stayed in to watch his act and we would be crying with laughter he was also a great singer and did a great Elvis impersonation R.I.P Freddie
watch an Audience with Freddie Starr he absolutely tormented the Audience of celebrities, one of the funniest comedians of the 80s and 90s always had us in tears cos you never knew what he was going to do next lol
The man was comedy platinum. His "audience with" is stupendous. His Mick Jagger and Ray Charles impressions beyond compare. Real "of their time" comedy when people had thicker skin and a sense of humour.
Hs a singer and stand up comedy act and one of the best in the business it was sad when he passed i went to see him live he could have you in tears of laughter
Freddie was a comedian who was unpredictable and would frighten the audience to death! He was also a great singer the Jordanaires came and did a guest spot on his show and they said he was the best Elvis impersonator they had met. He also acted from being a child to being a young man in old British films. He was however a bit of an unsavoury character even his friends admitted you couldn’t really trust him, one comedian friend said he used to do things like pee up your leg if the mood took him, to him these things were hilarious.
@@MarkfromtheStates Well Done Mark and no spoilers but you MUST watch Freddie Starr on "Parkinson" with Muhammad Ali. It was a Chat Show and do not read abt comments as it might spoil it. Trust Me,as someone who has watched Comedy since 1961 so 62 years now. It is a real treat,,
My God!!! I've not laughed so much since I first saw this show way back then! It was a sad day when he died in 2019. His real name was Frederick Leslie Fowell.
Great vid...Freddie was from Liverpool...a scouser. you want to watch the one with him and Des O'Connor...Just looking at him has me in fits of laughter.
You should react to Freddie and Mohammad Ali that is good also. Freddie was very unpredictable and a bit manic and he made people very nervous of him .He had a lot of demons as many greats comedians do 😢
I saw him ‘live’ several times and I still have a great laugh! He was really funny but, he loved Elvis and would include him at the end of his stint onstage!
Freddie owned a horse that won the biggest race in the UK, the Grand National, in 1994. He was also the subject of one the most remembered newspaper headlines of all time when one of the tabloids headlined - Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster. That's gone down in history !
Good morning, good afternoon Mark. Freddie Star was on a lot of live shows when I was younger. He was always a bit 'off the wall' and never seemed to follow the plot the others had rehearsed. Perhaps I was too young or too stuffy to appreciate his comedy UNTIL this morning when I laughed until I cried at his antics. Thank you for this lovely time. My chest hurts through laughing so much, so I think I need a nice cup of tea, and an English biscuit, before I sit back down and watch your next video.
I didn't think much of him till I saw him live in Torquay while on holiday with the family. It was an afternoon " family" show, ( the adult show was later that evening). He did his famous barbed wire juggling act ! I nearly split my sides laughing !
Have a listen to Freddie singing with The Jordanaires (they backed Elvis) and you see that he could really sing. He was an amazing impressionist, comic and actor.
You need to watch 'A audience with Freddie Star'. Its a celebrity audience and its hilarious. He always has his audience in terror of him picking them out. Absolutely brilliant comedian who passed away a few years ago.
Freddie Starr (born Frederick Leslie Fowell; 9 January 1943 - 9 May 2019) was an English stand up comedian, impressionist, singer and actor. Starr was born in Huyton in the county of Lancashire, England.
What a legend indeed. Watch Freddie Starr with Shirley Bassey, classic. Also Freddie sang with the Jordanaires, singing some of Elvis songs. Jordanaires loved him so impressed. Freddie Starr could have been a great singer, a beautiful voice he had. Also Freddie with Des O'connor many times and different sketches.
His personality (and onstage antics) were very similar to Robin Williams. You genuinely didn't know what he was going to do, especially with a live audience.
Freddie's real surname was Fowell. He used to be the lead singer in a rock'n'roll band in the 60s, so he could actually sing. He made his name as a comedian though. He died in 2019.
Did a great elvis impresion and he was a big elvis fan , check him out on the des o connor shows , also the royal variety perfermance were he bowed to the audience but only gave the royal family up in the royal box a slight nod lol
Freddie is from Liverpool UK and he died a few years ago.....check him out doing ELVIS, and his many other TV appearances...he was funny as hell! - RIP Freddie Starr
An audience with Freddie Starr is a must watch so many things on this show. But the scene with the maggots. Will have you peeing your pants with uncontrollable laughter.
He does a similar bit with Unchained Melody a few years later. For context: Robson and Jerome covered it in the 90's, Mr Motivator was a popular exercise person? on 80's tv

Same message to all Americans, how can you NOT have heard of Freddie? Maybe he didn't have to conquer America! His guesting with Des O Connor was legendary! Today's talent is nowhere near his level! I was too busy laughing at him to bother to find out his real name! The two talent shows back then we're Opportunity Knocks and New Faces! They unearthed REAL talent, keep forgetting were Freddie came from!😊 RIP Freddie Starr😢
As I understand it his career and life ended in controversy. For me he was a kind of crossover artist from the vaudeville/slapstick era (eg. Max Wall’s physicality on stage) and the incoming era of ‘alternative’ comedy. Freddie wrote and coordinated his own stuff, so he didn’t have a team of writers. I wasn’t a massive fan but this version of Vincent is one the all-time great British comedy sketches. He also had the great Mohammed Ali in the palm of his hand during a talk show called Parkinson on which both Freddie and Ali were guests.
By ‘this version’ I mean Freddie’s finished product, not other people doing it. There are other versions of the act which are far less subtle and rely on a more apish performance.
You must have a look at Muhammad Ali and Freddie on Parkinson, it was once in a lifetime. Only time I've ever seen the greatest boxer ever getting a scare!
There was a popular myth about him spawned by a newspapaer headline … ‘Freddie Star Ate My Hamster’. It wasn’t true but many believed it because he was unpredictable and manic.
Freddie Starr was as mad as a box of frogs. Bit too much over the top for me, but it was hard not to find him funny. He was often very erratic and unpredictable on any live show - which made it hard to work with him. Funny.... but insane. Does make you wonder why people think us Brits are so uptight and restrained really?
I’m probably the only person to hate him. He was visiting his aunty in our street. She was talking with my mum and another women. I was showing off I just learnt to cycle with my hands of the handle bars. Because I had taken the limelight of his joke he booted me in the shin he was about 17 I still have a dint in my leg. Years later He use to pretend he could do karate on his act, by then I could at the time Liverpool where producing the some of the best shotakan in the world and I don’t count myself in there number. But always wanted my chance with the git. But guess what got famous and nobody saw him again.

An absolute legend. Loved him. Back on the days of 3 tv channels he really was a star.
You need to listen to Freddie sing a Elvis song with Elvis's own backing singers, he sounded just like him ... what a star
I dont think I've ever seen anything he's done and not been in tears with laughter. He was an incredible comedian. His Mick Jagger impression is hilarious, the interview with Parkinson and Muhammed Ali, I could go on. Just such a funny, funny guy

My God!!! I've not laughed so much since I first saw this show way back then! It was a sad day when he died in 2019. His real name was Frederick Leslie Fowell.
Freddie was a loose cannon on stage. The TV networks were nervous about the mayhem he produced on-stage. 😃
