Suddenly, my wife came into my listening room and said, "It's a little loud isn't it? Not a good sign for a person who is experiencing hear loss. However, I checked the volume. It was near to my usual level of listening. I little higher, but not enough to say, the volume was too high. It was the power of the performance and the recording. This is an intense work.
What a gorgeous, lushly orchestrated score. It's a crying shame that it isn't played more frequently but then again, all of Zemlinsky's spectacular music has suffered the same fate. Even the Berlin Philharmonic has neglected him over the last decade.

Wunderschöne Aufführung dieses spätromantischen Meisterwerks mit farbenprächtigen Töne aller Instrumente. Die Virtuosität des Konzertmeisters ist auch bemerkenswert. Der geniale Dirigent leitet das perfekt trainierte Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo mit völlig effektiver Dynamik. Echt bewundernswert!
Alma Mahler did her typical thing with Zemlinsky as well, but unlike Werfel, also with whom she cheated on poor Gustav, they didn't marry. Berg praised this as if something otherworldly were behind it, and maybe he was right...

Estoy de acuerdo. La orquesta de Galicia cada día mejor. Propuestas de cosas poco interpretadas y muy bien ejecutadas.
