Wow, great machine which provides the right angle to start welding immediately. Never seen this before and I am still learning at 56 years-old mechanic on several disciplines. Thanks a lot for teaching us so much. A cutter and lathe simultaneously without any use of oils. Keeps all clean. Friendly regards from Holland, Marcel Knippers.
This Old Tony it is actually meant to mount to the pipe and travel the diameter or the pipe... so its limited by the thickness and I think that's somewhere around .75".
pretty sweet! as a social experiment you should bevel a watermelon. Call it "BEVELING A WATERMELON 100 FT OFF THE GROUND!" with a thumbnail of you fake-eating a mouse. $10 says that'd put you on Trending in under a week. Put the mouse in a bikini to trend @ #1.
From what I know about Rigid plumbing products ( not much tbh) is that they are well built and notoriously heavy, and they get the job done, but man are they Expensive with a capital E. Take good care of that unit JD and I am sure that it will save you effort and time and make you money. Don't lend it to anyone without you as the operator.
Just out of interest perhaps you could do a video compression of beveling a pipe with this unit versus using an angle grinder, like your comparison video of grinder vs cutting torch?
HI JD....one of the few pieces of equipment I probably can't come up with a reason to buy...As to our previous conversation, see my reply to your reply...and as to the color of chips, it's complicated. if the cutter inserts are carbide, (and I suspect they are) then all is fine. Can't imagine that Rigid would build a pipe cutter/beveller that had to be babied. I would call Rigid and ask them.
How does this compare to plasma cutting bevels on the field? Have a lot of 12" to 18" pipe to field prep and weld. Also wondering how long the inserts last.
A plasma need more power than this, it also needs air.... both tough to get in the field. The inserts I think will last more than long enough to be considered useful
Boa Noite amigo tudo bom gostaria muito de saber quanto custa essa máquina de fazer biseladeira sou da cidade de cachoeiro Itapemirim Espírito Santo tem interesse de comprar uma maquina dessa
JD it would pay to check just which inserts it takes, get a hold of some as spares and tape them to the box that the machine travels in. Keep a record of the part number and supplier in your phone.
JD Brewer a question if I may I'm in the process of getting some fireball squares I'm getting the 12/8 set r should I just get the 8 inch set I'm going for the iron set what do you think?
That thing is 3k. I would buy a used lathe for that price. Yeah the lathe is bigger, but you can do more things with a lathe. The only benefit to this is the portability I guess. I sill like lathes better...
Blue chips are too hot my friend. Try running two cuts at half the full depth. You could also slow down you feed speed but with these blue chips you will be going through some carbide my friend. It will also take out the chatter marks on the face. I want to add you doing amazing work and you do not mess around and I respect that. I once heard a guy on a job say "work smart not hard" he was corrected by a man that said "what ever happened to both" this second statement is you my friend!!

It is an amazing machine!
I was expecting to see the magnet broom run over the chips. Let’s weld some dang pipe
ooohh nice toy! what's the capacity on that thing?

@@ThisOldTony so that's the trick, huh.... 😂😂😂
Nice tool JD!! That thing is SWEET!!
Reid Eichner thanks, it is very useful

Mark Fryer I almost have more Ridgid tool compared to welding tools... they are my favorite tools. Quality and reliable
I love my tristand with the chain vise. They will clamp on to just about anything.
Just out of interest perhaps you could do a video compression of beveling a pipe with this unit versus using an angle grinder, like your comparison video of grinder vs cutting torch?
Mark Fryer yes I will try to get a few clips
Nice up close shots.! Great upload. Thanks JD.!

Needs a little deflector shield to stop the chips getting under the lead holding wheel thingo.
Thanks for the video. That shot of chips falling on the floor would make a killer jigsaw puzzle.
Boa tarde amigo onde consigo comprar um maquina dessa sou brasileiro da cidade de cachoeiro Itapemirim qual o valor
Wow! Now that’s slick.
Fireball Tool yeah, but not a slick as a cast aluminum mega square!!
That sure beats using a grinder.
Nice JD,all you need now is a air nozzle to blow the chips away from the rollers :)
I like it, simple design to get the job done

that thing must take some abuse? How long before changing bits? Are they carbide tips?
Yeah it's just like an end mill on a mill...its designed for it so they last long enough
Back in my day....
Great tool! Thanks for the video.
Duncan MacKenzie thanks for watching!
@@jdbrewer6638 Hey man that looks like sched 80 pipe! Whats the limitations on thickness for this thing? Also where can I order one
@@ifitaintrounditurnitdown1735 it is so that's 3/8".... I think the max is 1/2"
It's made by Ridgid

@@RomildoSilvaAndradeAndrade it is roughly $4,000 usd. It is well built and a very good tool.
What is the model of this unit and how small of pipe will it bevel
Great tool ...and very good brand ciao
Great video JD, liked the different shots. You getting into some pipe welding?
Richard Ezzo yes, put in a big quote and wanting to brush up on Pope welding
goo.gl/images/aoLvVz
Is that a ESAB I see in the background? he he
Nick Williams wait, what?!?!
everything Rigid makes is awesome.
Can you use this on stationary fixed pipe/fittings in the field? Up to what diameter pipe can this be used on?
I wonder how long the bits last?
It looks like insert tooling, so probably a long time and easy to replace. Hopefully it isn't some oddball hard to find insert.
JD it would pay to check just which inserts it takes, get a hold of some as spares and tape them to the box that the machine travels in. Keep a record of the part number and supplier in your phone.
Did you mount it to a rigid jack stand? I have one and they demo’d it and it traveled around the pipe. Just curious.
The only way to prep pipe if you doing it a lot
J C very true
How do you reckon it does on stainless pipe?
roostin it cuts just fine... probably a little more wear
+JD Brewer decent that could really save me some time rigging the power max 45 up to the mathey every time a ss job comes through the door
How long does the blade lasts?
Beats using an angle grinder JD nice tool 🖒
James White it sure does!!
JD Brewer a question if I may I'm in the process of getting some fireball squares I'm getting the 12/8 set r should I just get the 8 inch set I'm going for the iron set what do you think?
James White I like the 12/8. Because it has both the large and small squares. They are both very useful
That thing is 3k. I would buy a used lathe for that price. Yeah the lathe is bigger, but you can do more things with a lathe. The only benefit to this is the portability I guess. I sill like lathes better...
True... this is actually meant to attach to the stationary pipe and travel around the diameter while beveling
Wow, those metal chips look pure evil..
Bull Dozer they are terrifying
Awesome tool
Infinite Craftsman another lucky score!

Michael McCloskey thank you for the info... I will try changing it with the cut depth... there is not any other way to slow it down. Thanks!
Blue chips simply mean the heat is going into the removed chip, go watch ABomb's channel, he has lots of blue chips from insert tooling.
James Lerch also it's really thin shavings...
I should have used "dark blue" my bad JD just try to slow feed speed once.
A bomb
i want work with you !
Hey if it works it works.
