The cross is stuck in the grass directly across the street from the driveway so they have to see it every day.

In particular here, he wondered why man worries so much about other’s opinions of him when they are ultimately of no value and often serve as an impediment to his authenticity. Think that’s one of the hidden gains in going through the “truth” journey. Can’t get to where we are without letting go off popular opinion as it were. It’s ultimately liberating to be free of such nonsense and these tombs are an extension of that erroneous concern carried into death.
