They do look abandoned, the police taped one apparently they were or are doing some sort investigation on something. I’m just enthralled here. Feel like I’m in a woods if not for some city sounds. Greetings from Prague. Unfortunately, the cemetery is neglected - there is no money for renovations, you can even buy tombs with corpses, or donate online for renovations. Since these are very old graves, the survivors are also no longer alive, so the graves of famous personalities can also be purchased. This cemetery is also the site of occult séances. They even buried countless mummified cats in empty graves, I think it was some vet who got rid of the bodies like this and kept the owners' fees for the rendering. Those two-story tombs are also for sale, with coffins on top. When you come here again, I can show you around other interesting cemeteries :)

To buy and sell a grave or a mozillam that's been used? That's absolutely horrible. Although they have passed away they are still human beings and deserve respect. And I'm sure they paid for those accommodations in advance. This is definitely the 1st time I've heard many countries allowing such a thing.

I've always found old cemeteries fascinating places, mainly because I love to see how far back in time the graves go....I was told by some that I was morbid for having an interest in such places, but I didn't think of it like that. @@deadgoodwalks they most definitely are! I remember as a kid walking down a cut through where I used to live that just happened to have a cemetery just off to the side of it. The church was real old, I think it was about 900 years old back then, so my dad told me.....and I would always stop and look at a particular headstone through the railings which belonged to a sea captain....think it went back to around 1650 ( or something like that)....it was well old anyway. My imagination would run wild tryinging to visualise what sort of person he was, what he looked like, his life etc. It's the same with me now, if I'm ever near to a churchyard I cannot just walk by but have to stop and have a look. Glad I found your channel, I'm obviously now a subscriber. 👍🏻

That’s not morbid, I too have this fascination, a graveyard brings a strange kind of rest/ peace. You know you could be there too at some time in the future and a lot of people I knew already are. Their life ended and they are peacefully in the ground, while I’m still standing. I remember things they said and did, that way they will never really be dead.
At the same time older graves of people I never knew also inspire thought. Who they were in life, with their daily worries and happinesses. And now they are here in the ground, some of them already longer then I’ve been living. From a time when life was so terribly different. What would they say if we could resurrect them now?

Many areas in Southern states of America are below sea level, so mausoleums are built & no one is buried in the ground. There are several in New Orleans with architectural style similar to this one. Toured through one a few years ago. Another unusual thing about those particular cemeteries is they actually have a parade, with one or two piece band playing & singing & dancing, When the Saints Go Marching In & other songs. Of course since we were there, we were asked to join in. We did till we reached our gate to leave. What an experience!

A friend of mine was born and raised in New Orleans. The water table is so high that after a heavy rain the coffins in the ground float.
She had one relative they called “Floatin’ Harold.” Whenever there was a lot of rain, he’d float and dislodge the stone covering the grave. When his mother died, they buried her on top of him in the same hole, after drilling holes in his casket.
They also covered the gravesite with a huge, heavy, concrete slab.
And they say you can’t keep a good man down. Her words

Fascinating video. I spent time in Germany in the 80s and 90s and visited many cemeteries similar to this one. Some of those mausoleums apart from being grand old buildings, some are still used and well looked after. Some of the deeply religious folk who are still alive and have family members in mausoleums visit and pray next to the crypt or urns hence the knee rests on the ground. The decrepit mausoleums usually belong to families that have all since passed on, and no longer looked after unless the town council has funds to do so. The example of the mausoleum with the bedsheets and broken front, wouldn't surprise me if this was grave robbers who knew the family were once wealthy, so go looking in what's left of the coffins below in the family crypt in the hope of finding rings and jewellery.

The statues are in remarkably good condition. Is crime a problem in these cemeteries? ( Such as being robbed.). Also, do they give tours and tell the history of the families? I live in the South in the US and this is common in the older cemeteries. Also, we have to watch for snakes, especially with all of the leaves. I would love to see pictures of what this cemetery looked like years ok. So much history and stories to be told. Thank you for the tour.

I'm not an expert on this, but in the States it's become common practice to permanently seal mausoleums once the remaining family passes. This isn't always the case, especially in cemeteries that are still highly active and are being maintained but even in those, staff may choose to permanently seal a mausoleum that meets the above criteria and is continually being broken in to and desecrated. I would assume that is the case here as well.

Anyone that involves themselves in any kind of grave robbery etc are absolutely scumbags. These although dead were still someone's mum dad brother sister. If anything during this crazy time in our current days please be respectful of our deceased. Great content brother. These moseleums must of cost a kings ransom back in the day to build. Some really beautiful stone work. Keep up the fantastic videos 👍👏

This place is very mysterious. I was there back in 2018 and for me it was such a contrast between the life of the city around the cemetery and the "life" of the cemetery itself, two parallel worlds. Thank you for the video, it felt like I had a walk there again 🙌
