- Today we are taking the new UH-1 Huey by Taog’s Hangar up to have some fun around the German North Sea islands Helgoland and Düne. The Huey is one of the most iconic helicopters ever build and since Taog's Alouette III and Lama are my two favorite helicopters in the sim I was super excited about the Huey...and it couldn't have come at a better time, since I was lucky enough to see an old ex German Air Force Huey fly last weekend.
As with the previous two releases by Taog, the level of detail is absolutely stunning. It's fun to fly, has a ton of custom features and the sounds are incredible, perfectly capturing the unique sound of the Huey. And this time we even get three versions. The military UH-1H and the civilian Bell 205 with normal and long skids. It's probably as close to perfect as it gets. So far, I can't find any faults with it.
Just like the Lama and Alouette the Huey comes with tons of features, like a working Bambi bucket, winch, animated crew, removable engine covers and so much more. A nice surprise is, that you can also switch between the original steam gauge instrument panel and a modernized one with added glass.
Overall, I'm super happy with the Huey and I'm sure I'll enjoy it for countless hours to come. I think for vintage helicopter fans it's a must have!

This just blew me away absolutely fantastic.
I'm glad you like it =) Taog did a fantastic job! I think it's one of the best helicopters in the sim.
You are quite handy with the chopper. And the cinematography. 🌟
Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm glad you like the video =)
Thank you for this fantastic display of the Huey. It stirs a lot of emotional memories.
I'm glad you like it! Thank you! I think Taog did an incredible job with the Huey.
Good freakin landing!
Thank you very much =)
Looks like a good one! Düne is a nice place to land IRL
It's fantastic! In my opinion Taog makes some of the best helicopters out there. Awesome, you've been there irl?
It will be interesting to see how this compares to the upcoming Blackbird Simulations Huey. I know it’s going to have working guns and rockets.
That's true. Taog's Huey will be very hard to beat. But both of them will be fantastic products for sure.
Sorry, are you in Vr?
@@federicomassarino714 no, sadly not =/
Thanks a lot, beautiful video🤟😉
@@federicomassarino714 Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it 🙂
Great shots! What tool, specifically the fixed camera, was used to record this?
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like them =) To record the flight I use the freeware Flight Recorder available on Flightsim.to. For the fixed camera view I set up the in-game showcase camera view. I disable the follow mode and engage the lock mode, then I move the viewpoint to a position I want and replay the recording.
Nice flying!
Thank you very much =)
@@vintagesimulations she’s a big, stable, beauty! Your heli skills are really becoming solid!
@@Belatu42 yes, she really is! She feels very convincing for a Helicopter of this size. Thank you very much, your advice on how to land really helped =) I must say I really enjoy helicopter simming now!
@@vintagesimulations glad I could help! Taog’s Hangar really got the best out of the Asobo FM with this one. It’s really good! I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
@@Belatu42 I don't know how Taog does it, when the Alouette released I thought it was as close to perfect as it gets, but with every new release he steps up his game. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the Huey too. I have both of your Huey videos on my watchlist but sadly hadn't had time yet to watch them =/
Fantástic.
Muito obrigado =)
Finally I can enjoy this beauty unlike war thunder
Taog did a fantastic job with the Huey. I'm sure you'll enjoy it =)
How do u fly it so smooth my helicopters don’t fly like this they are all over the place what joystick are u using
Thank you! I use a Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog. I think it was just a lot of practice, with helicopters your control inputs have to be much smaller then with a plane. If you look at my first helicopter videos with the Alouette or the Mini 500, you'll see that I was struggling a lot with the landing and I'm still not very good at hovering.
A great tutor for helicopter flying in simulators is Belatu42, he has a lot of videos on how to hover, how to takeoff and land and so on. He really helped me a lot =)
I've also seen that some people set up control profiles for helicopters to reduce the sensitivity of the controls, but I haven't tried that yet.
I got the airbus joystick some people say it is not that good for helicopters
@@peterthomas9919 I have no experience with the Airbus stick, but it should be ok. I'm sure there are sticks better suited, but until about a year ago I used an old twisting Saitek stick that I bought for about 30 € when I was 12-13 years old. At the end it had a few missing buttons and had a lot of play. I think you just get used to the tools you have and make them work =)
Hi, why don't you see the throttle movement from cut-full-idle stop when starting the turbine?
Hi, on startup the throttle is already in the idle position. I think you only need to move it to the cut position during shutdown.
@@vintagesimulations Maybe the start-up procedure for the UH-1H Huey is different from the B212? I started it a couple of times and the procedure was the same: 22% full trottle and return to the idle stop position. After 55% starter off.
@@triscelemeduseo I sadly can't answer that =/ In the sim version of the Huey I leave the throttle in the idle position and release the starter at 40%. It works in the sim, but I'm not sure if that is the right procedure for the real Huey.
Why is everything in the cockpit feel so static. Things should shake to add immersion.
Maybe he could add a bit of subtle shaking. I agree it would enhance the experience. But it already feels great =)
@vintagesimulations I think the industry is catching up. In DCS, the F4 by far has the best vibration animation. FBW A380 is adding some of that with engine shake, tail flex and more...
@@AIAffiliate88 I agree! I have neither of them yet, but I saw the airshow video Heatblur did with their F4 a few months ago. It looks insanely good! It's incredible how far flight simulators have come!
How is the torque, do we need to heavily compensate to fly straight
It's not too bad. It has a tendency to roll to the left, but you can counter it with a bit of trim. Overall, I would say it feels very stable.
@@vintagesimulations thank you sir
@@ancientmonotheism5118 my pleasure!
When does it release on marketplace for Xbox series x.
I sadly don't know, but since he put his Alouette on the marketplace I'm sure the Huey will get there too =)
You can get this on Msfs 2020?
It's a MSFS 2020 addon currently only available here: flightsim.to/product/uh-1h-huey-for-msfs-by-taog-s-hangar
If your question is whether it's available in the in-game marketplace, not yet. But since Taog released his Alouette there I'm sure, it'll get published there too.
Mmmmh..... the radio not working .. I hear both the tower and the ground but it doesn’t make me speak, whether I press the keys or if I press the dialogue box. I think it still has a lot of bugs...
I haven't tried the radio yet. I'll try it and get back to you. What other bugs are there? I must admit, I haven't noticed any.
I just tried the radio, it's working. You must turn the power of the radio on on the middle console. Then you'll hear yourself too.
@@vintagesimulations For now only the one, which I later discovered works, but it is poorly modelled, it has a micro button at the base of the tuning button, to turn on your communication and for the volume, but they are very poorly made, they are not adjustable effectively, then it has little rotor trim control, I flew for years, in the army, as a young man, the real one, here in Italy we call it "carpet beater" " Teppichklopfer" For its typical noise.... :)
@@ClaudioCarraFotografia That's awesome! As a real Huey pilot how would you rate the flight model itself?
The sound is probably the most iconic aspect of the Huey and I think Taog nailed that =)
@@vintagesimulations The sound is the same, this one reproduced it well, the cockpit and the overhead are perfect, the central consolle is a little different, but it is difficult to find one identical to the other due to the presence or absence of the doppler, the multiband radio, the SIAP panels and other niceties, so it's fine, except that it has too many non-operational buttons, it's a little poor, maybe it improves in the next versions. As a flight model, it pulls perhaps too far to the right, but it's hard to tell without sitting in it. :)
I tried and succeeded to get a mast bump 😂👍😎
Haha that's awesome! Didn't think that was possible in the sim 😅
@@vintagesimulations actually may have been a quality Robinson moment, I think my tail rotor and boom might have been missing after contact with the main rotor! Try a hard negative G pushover, there's no recovering from it, managed it 4 times now and to be fair, I did them all on purpose!! 😅 I love this heli, he's done another quality job 👍
@@MrIanspeed I agree! He did an incredible job with the Huey =)
Skis without flexibility
That might be an issue of the replay tool, but I haven't checked it yet.
@@vintagesimulationsNo helicopter in the simulator has apparently
