It certainly has. I have now spent ten years in Liverpool, both as a student and I've also worked there, and I absolutely love this town. I'm also hoping to come back to Liverpool in early September for the next two years.
Me Mam was born there in 1905, she was a great little gal, from off Scotland Rd, always telling us kids about the tough life she had, before WW1, and tough school life. Strangely, she never spoke with a regional accent.
Unfortunately the modern accent is put on the words over emphasised the original accent is more Lancashire with a touch of Irish bt mostly influenced by Welsh

I enjoyed the video.I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. Both Liverpool
and Newcastle were ship building ports.I would say they are similar
in many ways.

My mum was born in Toxteth in 1945. She remembers how tough life was for her and her family right after WWII with all of the rationing.
When Britain was a world class country, and Liverpool was one of our most important cities.
