Got a few questions, what’s your stocking rate? and how many ms per cow do your cows do on average? How much meal do you feed? Looks like you have plenty of grass great video
This year its 128 on 68ha and then the heifers and beef enterprise are run up about 10ha of hill country. So I think in terms of stocking rate 1.9ish/ha is pretty low. They get 1.1kg of meal morning and night so 2.2kg/day. The mix is PKE and Soyhulls (no grain). We budgeted for 3.0kg per cow per day but they haven't needed it. Thats the max we would feed because any higher than that and we get mastitis and fertility deteriorates. Production range is 530-580kg. I am obsessive compulsive about rotation length so haven't gone under 22 days this season and will start extending, that's why the grass looks this way. We are overdue for a very dry summer, so don't want to mow our way into a desert.
@ very interesting, that’s really good production, it’s always interesting to see how other farmers do it, yep I think we are in for a drought we had 50mls of rain a couple days ago and it still looks dry. Keep it up
