I only know the "backstory" of this song through second hand accounts but from what I've gathered, this is kinda what the song is about:
back before joining Hololive, Calli (or rather the person playing her) was part of the underground rapping community. she had many people she idolized and looked up to in the underground rap scene, until Covid happened and that community kinda halted it's movement completely and lost almost all of it's momentum and participation. a while after that Calli auditioned for Hololive and her audition got accepted. with Hololive's musical side being typically more of a cutesy J-pop deal and the talents being called Idols, the image of someone who works for Hololive was as far away as you could get from the image of someone who does underground rap. that would already make her seem like a sellout to her old friends, her rapping mentors and the people she looked up to in that scene, but she surpassed all of them in fame. she thought at least her heroes and idols in the underground rapping community support her and be happy for her but... the opposite happened, making her feel like a villain who abandoned everything just to "make it".
that's about as good as I can understand what was going on.

Calli talked about it in the first stream that she did after the song came out, if anyone wants to hear her words on the topic. I'm not 100% certain about the sell-out aspect, but I'm pretty sure there was jealousy. Otherwise this is pretty accurate. And yeah despite this being way outside of her normal music, and as much I love her normal music, this is somehow some of her best work.

@@effortlessfury Absolutely her best work. I heard, second hand, that she was afforded voice coaching by Cover corp. If true, what a sound business investment! Joking aside though, it's her humility that brought about this masterpiece. A willingness to face and inspect her flaws. She has the soul of a Legend in the making.

Calli definitely put herself out there with this one. She was hesitant to put it out, but it ended up being a fan favorite. You can listen to her talk about it in the after party stream she did after release. There are clips from it floating around as well. "Live Again" also has chill vibes, though a bit more lively. Really digging your reactions. Keep it up!

This song is different but the rest of her stuff, but I love it. It's my favorite song too. As someone said in another comment most of her friends from her "last" life turned their back on her, but Boogey Voxx didn't. They are a duo that new Calli from before and are vtubers now, Fra (he is like Frankenstein) and Ci (she is a Jiangshi, Chinese Zombie). They did 2 songs together that are really good. Graveyard Shift (on Calli's channel and has subtitles) and Crown (on Boogey Voxx's channel and doesn't have subs) are both great. Fra raps fast in Japanese, Calli raps in English, and Ci does the chorus.

I'd Highly recommend checking out Demondice for someone who will scratch the same itch as calli's releases.
Demondice does a very similar thing with her music of telling a story in with her music without making it cringe.
