    This bus sounds like music, i can listen to it all day and never get bored of it. Too bad that they will never make buses like this ever again.

      +repoman_71 Sure does, this is my all time favorite powertrain. I'll let you know when I upload a video of a 1992 Gillig Phantom I rode last month with the same exact powertrain.

      TheCRTman
      I have never ridden on a Gillig, but i heard good things about them. The only buses i have ridden on with the two stroke Detroits were GM New Looks and MCI Classics. The Classics i have ridden on have the 6V92TA with Allison V731, VR731.

      repoman_71 Gillig Phantoms are very good buses, but the Gillig Low Floors and BRTs aren't so good. The older Gillig Low Floors aren't too bad, but not as good as Phantoms.
      Oh okay. I like the 6V71N/Allison V730 a lot and the 8V71N/Allison VS2-8. When it comes to 6V92TA's, I prefer it with an Allison HT series transmission.

      TheCRTman I would like to ride on a Phantom but I might have to go out west to ride on one. The NovaBUS Classic is a great bus but a LFS is shit compared to it. The older second gens (Pre 2009) are good buses but will never be as great as a Classic, I would rather ride on one of those than a Third or Fourth gen or a overrated shitbox called the cough cough Xcelsior.

    • @TheCRTman
      @TheCRTman  9 лет назад +1

      repoman_71 Some places out here still run some 90's Phantoms, but they are retiring all of the time. Nova Classics and RTS's are cool, but I hate all LFS's. Junkcelsiors are overrated indeed.

    man, I remember that day lol. I miss these new flyers roaring together with the old MAN coaches up and down both Geary/Third Streets...
    THAT BUZZARD FOR LOW AIR THOUGH!!!

    • @TheCRTman
      @TheCRTman  9 лет назад +1

      +megamanjoe Yeah that was an unforgettable night! I uploaded the longer audio only video a couple days after we did this though. Yeah originally I didn't know why it was buzzing, but it was because of the low air for sure. I cannot wait to ride 4574 whenever it comes out.

    My heart skipped a beat at 1:25... XD
    What an awesome bus!! So glad that they preserved one of these. You are one lucky dude to have gotten a ride on it! Great footage too. I still have yet to ride a 6V92-powered bus.
    That sound reminds me of my school bus stop back in like 2006-7. The school bus itself wasn't really anything of interest, but everyday I would see a PACE (Chicago suburbs) early 90s Orion I go by, with that distinct 6V92 roar. Sadly I never got to ride one of those buses. Always loved how you could hear it before you could see it!

    • @TheCRTman
      @TheCRTman  8 лет назад +1

      Mine skipped when it fired up right before I turned on the recorder. XDDD
      Thanks man and yeah, it was a dream come true to ride it.
      Ohh man I know those Orion I's must have sounded niiice. He have 1 preserved at Muni and it may be coming out this year. 9010. 9030 is a mobile command center at Muni, but it isn't ever moved.

      +Thuam X Yeah I've heard about that as well. It was a common flaw with the early D60's. Two of the E60's artic sections broke in half. Even after all of that, they were still great buses.
