    Paul, the player only loses points for unattended guests in the Café. The food and drinks in the kitchen actually add 1 point for each cube left in the end of the game.
    Other than that, great video! Thanks for helping me remember the rules. Will probably play again tomorrow.

    You know what's cool? Every quibble Paul had in this video is fixed in the Deluxe edition.

    Just picked up a second-hand copy of GAH so happy to see you've covered this. Couldn't help notice how far your videos have come on over the years - and by that I mean they're more colourful! This was a little Fifty Shades of Grogan

      yep. it turns out there is a colour issue on the main camera I was using and I never did any colour correction in post back then. now I do (sometimes too much on some videos) :)

    Thanks Paul! Just got this and read the rulebook. I needed some visual clarity and your video helped as usual. Keep up the great work!

    Great job! Agreed with all your points about the game. Also quite like the structure of the review. Keep doing these!

    Worked out how to run RUclips on my internet TV, video works very well on the large screen. Really enjoyed the quick overview and your thoughts.

      Антон Анищенков welcome to the channel. I don't do any of these style reviews any more, but I do continue to produce Rules videos and also the new style short review videos

    Very good explanation. I *love* die rolling mechanics and I *love* lots of choices, but 2.5 hours to play is too long for my group.

    Another great video Paul - you always seem to give me confidence when it comes to looking at games - I had zero interest in this until I watched your video.

    A rules query. If we, as example have 3 dice to do an action, is it mandatory to do all 3 actions or can I just do less?

  • @donnab6391
    @donnab6391 4 года назад +1

    You don't lose points for food and drink left in your kitchen. You gain one point per food or drink left in your kitchen at the end of the game.

    I would be happy to play this any time with three players. any time. fabulous game.
    the four player experience is not built for my group. we like to allow players the amount of time they'd like to take their actions without pressure. We're not slow, but there is a consideration made before taking a turn. The pacing of the game would not work well for that.
    The two player i may write up some questions on BGG to get it 'just right'. The guests at the tables need some way to cycle when neither player needs them. We've also been goofing around with drafting the initial cards as we've found their power level to be greatly influential on well you'll do in the game long term. maybe even an open pool to draft from would make a difference, the card draw especially in 2pl can be downright unforgiving.

    I just got the game and love it. The politics cards don't bother me. I like them. However the card quality is not great. I was shocked when I felt how flimsy they are. A linen finish would have been nice.

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  7 лет назад +1

      The cards felt thick enough to me. I know a lot like the linen finish. I'm undecided :) I've played with some linen finish cards which were not nice.

      Gaming Rules! I hear what you're saying. It's not that big of a deal because you don't constantly shuffle cards in this game. I still love it. It's up there with Village and Unfair for me. When I get home from work I'm going to play it some more.

    I know this is a year after the video but I have a rules question. For the occupancy bonus some colored rooms don't have groups of 4. Does this mean I can never get a 4 group bonus or do I have to wait to close 4 rooms before I get the bonus?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  7 лет назад

      Gosh. I've not played the game in a year :) You get the bonus based on the size of the group you complete. So, if you complete a blue group of size 3, you get 9 VP. And you are right, depending on the board, some groups dont have a size of 4. In the example image shown at 04:36, there are only size 1 and 2 blue groups. But the other sides of the board have different configs of groups. Hope that helps.

    Yeah that Scottish people "joke" is pretty weird. It was not removed from the rule book...

    Paul, I understand your qualm about looking up cards but they're in alphabetical order! It's not that different from numbered cards...

    • @wichhouse
      @wichhouse 2 года назад

      Text should simply be printed on the cards/tiles. It's absurd to constantly have to pass around the rulebook so new players can understand their staff cards, guest cards, objectives, and emperor tiles.

  • @carigsanders1728

    You missed a large number of the rules. not even a mention of how getting new guests works and very little explanation of iconography. didn't do it for me

    • @GamingRulesVideos

      Yep. I did. This was a review video, with a short rules overview at the start. It wasn’t intended as a tutorial video. I do those, but this was not one of them :)

      @@GamingRulesVideos very fair. I think I was confused by the name of your channel at the beginning of the video. By the name, I thought it was going to be the rules for the game lol

      Probably still not a great idea to put a half done rules explanation. It is a bit confusing.
