I'm so glad my Granpa bought a bunch mercedes fan clutches years ad years ago ! Along with a bunch of other hard to get parts some how he knew c126 euro headlights wouldnt be made anymore and got something like 5 brand new sets his whole basement is a like a very well organized Mercedes parts supply warehouse! My Grandpa got a kick out of where these new fan clutches come from ! Korona virus is the only thing to come from that area of the world that has lasted over 1 month !

To anyone storing a new or good used/refilled fan clutch, consider storing these clutches standing up on their side like standing a coin on its edge. It's supposed to prevent passive leaking from sitting for long periods.
It does take a long time we only have access to Toyota silicon oil which is 10000 man what a mission

Very cool info. We all need to start taking a hard look at fixing items historically regarded as throw-away or impossible to repair at home. The more we put cheap after market crap on our cars, the crappier the car will become over time. Ultimately you would lose the essence of why you bought the car in the first place.

I’m going to try this on my 617 because the fan clutch has the usual oil residue on the hub.
What is actual amount that should be filled? Can overfilling he an issue that couses the clutch to stay engaged all the time?
so do you fill it (and burp) till it raises to level of pin hole?
Hello, why my fan rotates slower when my SL450 R107 is on drive mode and in traffic but it rotates faster faster when gear is on park? Traffic over heats my car

I was wondering if oil can be refilled!
I have a W202 and some oil residue on my fan clutch, pretty sure it doesn't lock-in when engine gets hot enough.
Aux fans do kick in if needed (only in stop and go traffic, mostly in summer).

Thanks for sharing this info, any suggestions how much to put in w140 s600 fan clutch? Also you mentioned that you like use 5000 cst instead of 10000cst, could you please explain why?
