I do beard wash every day and I do beard bar soap once a week when I'm washing my hair when my hair I use head and shoulders. And then for my body, I use body wash. And I use after hot water.I use cold water
Nice info! Here is my routine… 1.Rinse everything 2. Start from top to bottom 3. Head, face & beard with beard wash. 4. Body down to the feet (and everything in-between) with body wash. 5. If in the morning…beard oil then comb. If at night…oil & butter then comb. If I don’t shower in the morning then it’s wash the beard then oil. Keep it up Dan!
We won’t talk about the first thing you do when you get in the shower, but hey don’t judge. I started with different oils, washes, balms and butters. Then I saw a video from a long time beard guru that recommended Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner daily, then grandpas pine tar soap at least once a week or more frequently as needed. Pat dry and my beard’s phenomenal.
I go in this order: - I use a wet washcloth to remove most of the sweat, dirt etc on my face, around and on the ears, etc - I use that washcloth to wash my hands. I work in construction so I tend to have dirt stuck into the wrinkles and all the little nooks and crannies of my hands, so I scrub my hands really good with the washcloth and some body wash. I like to use the folded sides of the washcloth to get under my nails. - I wash my face with a face wash and my bare hands (which I just cleaned) - I wash my head hair with shampoo, if needed, otherwise I just run my hand through it to the scalp for a nice rinse. - I wash my upper body with the washcloth and body wash, more specifically the neck and shoulders areas. To do so, I need to lift my beard and then wash and rinse with the other hand, I try to avoid the body wash getting into my beard. That was especially important since I used to use Old Spice body wash, which smells great but contains plenty of chemicals that I want to keep away from my beard. I have recently switched to a natural bar soap though, so it's not that much of a deal anymore, but still, it would be a little harsher on the beard than I like. - Now that no other non-beard products can end up in my beard, I comb my beard to ensure it's not tangled, and give it a quick scrub to the skin with my hand. Then I use beard wash if needed, get that to the skin and rinse while combing. - I then use beard conditionner, if needed (I usually don't use conditionner more than a couple times a week). I leave it there and try to keep my beard away from the shower jet as I continue washing the rest of my body - I wash the rest of my body - I rinse the conditionner, if needed, with the comb - Last step, I comb my beard really good. I first comb down like I would when styling my beard, then comb up, from my neck to the cheeks, then back down. I want to ensure I have no tangles whatsoever when I come out of the shower, because I found they're much harder to get rid of once the heard is no longer dripping wet. I rarely ever ger tangles since I started doing this, and when I do, it's generally a couple hairs together, my beard is naturally frizzy, so it sometimes end up making a small knot near the tip - After the water is turned off, I like to shake my head like a wet dog😂 in the shower to get rid of the excess water in my beard and hair before drying up myself with a towel.
Good morning, Dan! Great point about getting the hair cleaned first - washing from the top down. I follow a similar routine. Thanks for another informative video!
I like washing my face & head hair while the beard shampoo is still in my beard. Then I apply the beard conditioner and let that dwell while I take care of the body and get that rinsed. The last thing that gets rinsed is the beard conditioner so it can sit as long as possible in my beard.
Great video Dan - Step 1: Rinse my head hair, face, and beard, Get them good and soaked. Step 2: Wash and rinse my head hair with hair shampoo Step 3: Wash my face (making sure my beard is wet so nothing sits in the beard) and rinse my face. Step 4: (will vary depending on if I am conditioning or not) Use a beard wash and rinse. Step 5: Put in beard conditioner and let it sit Step 6: Wash body and rinse. Step 7: Rinse the beard with warm water and immediately rinse with cold water. My variation will be on non-conditioning days where I am just washing my beard. Step 4: would be to wash my body and rinse. Step 5: would be to wash the beard and warm rinse. I follow my normal conditioning day when I use pine tar soap ever other week
Hey Dan C my routine 1. Wash hands 2.rinse beard body 3. Wash head hair 4.exfoliate skin under beard 5.rinse beard again 6. Beard wash beard and leave in while I wash body I also use beard wash to wash my face 7.rinse beard 8. Use beard conditioner 9 comb beard hair with conditioner in -10 let conditioner sit 3-5 minutes 11 rinse body 12 rinse out conditioner 13 End with cold rinse - Only use Conditioner once a week - and use bar beard wash Stripping beard once a week- Appreciate all you do.
Great video Dan! I feel like a lot of people overlook washing theirs hands before starting. I used to think oh im putting shampoo on first, my hands will get cleaned. Now that I start with rinsing out my beard, I always start with washing my hands. My order of operation is wash hands, rinse beard/exfoliate, wash head hair, face, beard, beard conditioner, body. Now I might start doing conditioner and then washing face to avoid extra face wash from getting on my beard, but only on condition days. Glad to have a good video for people to reference!
I like your order more than mine... I changed mine up alil bit in the last month to 6 weeks Wash hands... Shampoo scalp Beard wash Rinse Beard conditioner (alternate days or every 2) Hair conditioner May brush my teeth again (oral hygiene is important, ya know) Body wash Face wash Cold Rinse Then oils, balms or butters, and additional hair and face treatment routines
Conditioner day routine 1. Wash hands and arms 2. Wet hair and beard 3. Shampoo and scrub beard with hands/ use Shampoo to wash face as well--lcw from beard octane let soak 4. Shampoo head hair while letting beard soak with lcw 5. Wash out hair and then beard 6. Condition beard with beard octane conditioner or doctors Nick's #7 conditioner 7. Comb beard. 8. Condition hair--I have long head hair 9. Comb head hair 10. Wash body 11. Cold rinse hair out, beard and body.. in that order 12. Let cold water run through beard for a little 13. Dry up and done
Actually mine is the same with exception of strip day. Strip day I use dr squatch or babc wash followed by lcw then conditioner. This double wash on strip day has been a game changer for me. Great video dan
Step by Step was my show 😂 I do pretty much the same except I wash my face b4 my beard. And i don't use shampoo anymore. I use a face wash on my scalp now
I was just thinking of asking this question. I think a long form video walking through everything you do to your beard in a week would be helpful, but I’m not sure how that fits into your content style.
Since I shave my head, probably my shower routine is a bit easier. I use a natural loofah sponge to gently scrap body, face and head. Yeah, even shaved you still need to clean that hairless roof, so it stays shinny as a fortune teller's crystal ball. First, I put beard wash, gently massage and let it do its job. Then, use body wash for body, face and head, scrap everything (except beard, of course) and then rinse from top to bottom. I make sure the soapy mix in my head and face doesn't touch the majority of my beard. Then comes beard rinse and finally the rest. I don't use beard conditioner nor face wash. Maybe I'll try those. Also, never tried washing hands as a first step. Seems like the logic thing to do. I'll adopt that one from now on. It's never to late to start doing different things and it's always exciting, even if it's your personal hygiene, woohoo! Thanks Dan. Stay bearded... and clean!
Something that I could add is when you comb the hair with the conditioner, I suggest to hold the part you want to comb with your other hand. It's game changing. It's also more easy to always have the same routine of where you start and where you're done so you don't lose too much time. I do try to do the face wash first so if I have some on my beard, the beard wash can clear it up. Thanks 🌷
I use the same head shampoo it’s amazing. Highly recommend. On a non stripping day. 1) wash hair 2) wash face 3) wash beard LCW from Octane 4) every other day condition hair and beard 5) wash body 6)cold rinse
I’m such a fan of using the professor fox worthy beard bar shampoo. The lather is amazing. Your tips got me thinking I should get some beard wash and conditioner and only use that bar maybe once a week instead of every other day.
1. I rinse in tepid water from head to toe. 2. I use a silicone scrubber on beard, face, and head. 3. Since I shave my head.. I have no use for shampoo, so I wash beard, face and head with beard wash. 4. I rinse off the beard wash. 5. I wash my remaining body parts, and re-rinse from head to toe again. 6. I cold rinse from head to toe at the very end. This step really sucks in the wintertime. 🙂
I do basically the same , but use all natural bar soap for head hair and body. The same beard wash and conditioner, but only condition once a week. Once a month I use pine tar soap on hair and body, to strip away all build up.
Very similar but I have no head hair 1) hands "bar soap" 2) head & face "bar soap" 3) Beard "daily wash" 4) Beard "Conditioner" ONLY ONCE A WEEK 5) everything else "bar soap" 6) rinse out conditioner Bar soap = Irish springs Beard wash = Grave before shave Beard conditioner = Grave before shave
Jump in and rinse everything Use a gentle face wash (I actually use this in the skin under the beard too, really cleans it all out for me and hasn't caused any damage etc to my beard) If it's a shampoo day for hair I'll put that in and wait a minute, then wash out all the face wash and and hair shampoo Then in goes beard wash, and head hair conditioner Then I clean my body with wash Then I rinse everything out, jump out of the shower and apply face moisturizer and beard oil + butter etc
Great video Dan! I almost have the exact same routine. Just some adjustments because I have long head hair, that’s a whole other hair beast in my life besides the beard 😅👊🤘
Thanks Dan. I would say the one thing I don’t currently incorporate is washing my hands before getting started in the shower. Makes total sense and if I’m not showering I wash my hands first so not too sure why I haven’t thought of that before! Maybe subliminally I thought the hair shampoo served as hand soap? No idea, but good stuff as always!
I was wondering if I was weird for starting with washing my hands in the shower 🙃😂 good to know others do too! 👊 My routine is: rinsing my body and washing my hands. I'll then wash the dome with liquid African black soap or a peppermint Castile soap. I wash my face with a daily facial cleanser, like cetaphil, and rinse. I wash my beard with a daily wash like LCW or LB daily wash (with a stripping wash once a week), and several times a week, especially after a stripping wash, I'll use conditioner and let it sit while I wash the pits and downstairs with a bar soap. I will rinse out the conditioner, then use a scrubby and body wash to wash the body (the washes vary). I've been starting to finish with a nice cold rinse, which is becoming much nicer with the summer heat 👍 and seems to soothe the scalp after days when I shave my head. Great video Dan! 👍👍 I'm not sure you mentioned conditioner frequency though, so it may sound like you use conditioner every day, when I'm sure you don't..? Thanks Dan! You rock! 🤘🍻🔥
Great video Dan. That's a lot of different bottles and bars in the shower! My routine is similar, but not as body specific. I wash my beard every day and condition it every other day
Never actually thought about it. But I go from top to bottom. -Hair with 2 in 1 Head and shoulders tea tree with eucalyptus. But i do want to try your brand to see how it is because H&S was the only brand I could find with tea tree. -Face and beard with WeatherBeard Supply Co. beard wash that I won from this channel after 4 flushes 😂 I am very impressed the way the wash makes my face and beard feel i really like it. -For the rest I use Crate61 bar soap. All natural with butters and oils. Also lower price and local to me.
Thanks Dan - I was surprised how interesting I found that. All made sense and was easy to follow. I'm very similar - I use Shea moisture beard wash as my daily. Quick question....is the Honest Amish beard and body bar a daily or a weekly stripping bar? Thanks for your time and advice.
Thank you Dan. I pretty much have the same routine except hands and nails get washed and cleaned before I get in the shower. One question even though it doesn't apply to me: Do you wash your chest and upper arms before your beard to avoid body wash or soap getting into beard, or just move it out of the way? Have a safe trip to Portland.
Mine is pretty similar. I did recently change to beard last. I go: 1) Head shampoo 2) Face wash (I challenge anyone to use Dr Nicks for 2 weeks and tell me you skin doesn’t feel amazing) 3) body wash 4) then I wash beard and condition every other, rinse and follow with cold rinse at end. Btw soo disappointed this wasn’t filmed in the shower talk about a. Let down😂. Great stuff Dan!
For the last part, it reminds me the video Scuba did in the shower about washing a beard 😂 For some reason I was a little nervous someone would walk into the room, didn't want to have to explain why I was watching a video of a dude in the shower 😂
Loved the concise info and advice once again. Side question, when you shower twice in a day, as I do right now working outside in some brutal heat, would you only rinse in morning before styling, then wash at night to clean out sweat and debris? If so is it ok to be just rinsing out the butter from night before, or use a gentle wash at morning and night? Thanks for all the care tips.
Don’t mean to be off topic to your video but I have a beard question if I may ask it well two of them really. But when your beard products are working wether oil, beard balms or whatever you’re using do you know it’s at least doing a good job when it softens your beard? I still feel such a novice because I never know if I’m doing my beard maintenance right. And two do you know if it feels like too much product if your beard feels greasy? Sometimes I get that feeling but it’s mainly where my beard and skin meet. Please and thank you for your reply.
Always happy to help! 1) soft can be an indicator, but I would say it's more about not feeling brittle and itchy 2) Depends on the product type. If you use balm or butter, it will always feel greasy because those products do not fully absorb in
Hey Dan! Was about to shoot you a message today but this provides the perfect opportunity to leave a comment instead! Questions about conditioner... 1) You said you do the Solid Wash Bar every other day which also replaces Conditioner. Does this mean you Condition every other day? I thought in the past you said it was only supposed to be 1-2 times a week. Could you clarify? 2) Disregard if using Conditioner every other day IS okay as if so that covers my question here, but if 1-2 a week is the recommendation then is it okay to have 2 strict days a week to do so? Such as Wednesdays and Sundays or would going from Sun to Wed be too short of a break from Conditioner? 3) Can you follow up a "stripping wash" day with Conditioner? I know strip washing is meant to get rid of your whole weeks worth of build up and grime, but does adding Conditioner in afterwards completely undo that or is this acceptable? Thanks for your answers! I'm new to conditioner as i just got my first bottle of it yesterday!! Excited to see the results!!!
Hey Scott! 1) yes, I do use conditioner in the shower every other day. Totally fine, as long as you thoroughly rinse it out. 3) yes! If I ever use a stripping wash, I almost always follow with a conditioner. I hope that helps!
I use honest amish bar of soaps so i do my body then hair and face. I di my beard last. What always comfuse me is the beard shampoo. Can beard shampoo be use alone or have to use conditioner?
What beard wash and conditioner do you recommend? I have tried a few but don’t know which one is good or that I like best so any suggestions would really help.
@@DanCBearded awesome! That's what I thought but just wanted to make sure. I've always just used whatever Beard wash I was using that day to also wash my face. Do I need to get an actual face wash?
I do the same, face, beard, neck under beard with beard wash. Maybe a different ph level required for different pores, upper face no hair, and the beard? I haven't had any known issues.
Thank you for the video. Is there such a thing as over exfoliation? In my case after getting head and beard saturated, I exfoliate only and then rinse, then apply wash/shampoo and exfoliate again, if conditioner I just run a comb through to help evenly apply throughout. I always had the idea that the wash may hinder exfoliation being soapy and glide over debris and dead skin cells, so decided to do it that way, thank you.
hello Dan, I shower in the evening most of the times and I have a question. Like you I use the oil in the morning and the butter before bed, but do I have to put the beard oil again after showering and then the butter or just the butter. I know you mentioned this in one of your videos but can't find it. grtz
I’m trying to lock down a good routine for washing my beard daily. I currently use LCW and I also have the beard octane conditioner. So it’s LCW then conditioner, then a stripping wash every other day? No conditioner on stripping day?
I would totally shake that up. Here is my recommendation: - Stripping wash once a week, followed by conditioner - LCW the other 6 days of the week (yes, wash every day) but follow with conditioner only half of those days
I have random routines, but essentially I do about the same. I never thought of exfoliating while the beard wash is in beard. Question, could I use the face wash on the soul patch area not covered by beard? If you were bald, would you use face wash and beard wash on your head? Thank you DanC, love how you cover topics that are unique.
@@DanCBearded The places I get the most acne issues is in the soul patch area. I use beard wash every day too. I have started exfoliating every time too. Any suggestions?
I use both Doctor Nick's beard wash and face wash on my bald head and it works very well for me. On shaving days I use beard wash, on the other days I use the face wash.

And then for my body, I use body wash. And I use after hot water.I use cold water

Here is my routine…
1.Rinse everything

I was wondering if I was weird for starting with washing my hands in the shower 🙃😂 good to know others do too! 👊
My routine is: rinsing my body and washing my hands.
Thanks Dan! You rock! 🤘🍻🔥
Thanks mark! I use conditioner every other day
Great video Dan. That's a lot of different bottles and bars in the shower! My routine is similar, but not as body specific. I wash my beard every day and condition it every other day
Same beard routine 🤝
My routine is pretty much the same, except l need to try the beard wash bar. Another great vid, thanx Dan!
It’s truly fantastic!!
Never actually thought about it. But I go from top to bottom.
-Hair with 2 in 1 Head and shoulders tea tree with eucalyptus. But i do want to try your brand to see how it is because H&S was the only brand I could find with tea tree.
-Face and beard with WeatherBeard Supply Co. beard wash that I won from this channel after 4 flushes 😂
I am very impressed the way the wash makes my face and beard feel i really like it.
-For the rest I use Crate61 bar soap. All natural with butters and oils. Also lower price and local to me.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
The wife makes me keep my LB pine tar soap in a Tupper wear bowl with lid. lol
Haha totally understandable
1 Rinse
2 Wash Head Hair with shampoo
3 Then Pine Tar Soap Face & Body Then Rinse
4 Beard Wash & Rinse
Post Shower Beard Oil
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
So both of those mentioned are actually stripping, very stripping. I wouldn’t use either more than once a week
@@DanCBearded Appreciate that Dan. i better change my daily wash - i have a grey beard and it does need the right kind of TLC. Cheers
I just move the beard out of the way. As long as the beard is saturated, no worries!
Mine is pretty similar. I did recently change to beard last. I go:
1) Head shampoo
2) Face wash (I challenge anyone to use Dr Nicks for 2 weeks and tell me you skin doesn’t feel amazing)
3) body wash
4) then I wash beard and condition every other, rinse and follow with cold rinse at end.
Btw soo disappointed this wasn’t filmed in the shower talk about a. Let down😂. Great stuff Dan!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
For the last part, it reminds me the video Scuba did in the shower about washing a beard 😂 For some reason I was a little nervous someone would walk into the room, didn't want to have to explain why I was watching a video of a dude in the shower 😂
Sorry guys 😂
really great info Dan! 💯
Thanks!
when you said that after you condition is the reason you comb is because of removing those snags in your beard?
Yup!
If I shower twice, I do try to plan it out with a rinse in the morning and wash at night. Then hope I don’t drool at night lol
@DanCBearded kinda what I was thinking too. Thanks Teach!
Wash head . wash face n beard with beard wash then condition head then beard . Then wash with Dr Squatch natural soap .
Thanks man!
Hand wash
Face wash
Shampoo
Beard wash
Conditioner
Beard Conditioner
Body Wash
Then rinse Conditioners
Cold rinse
Out
Awesome man!
1) soft can be an indicator, but I would say it's more about not feeling brittle and itchy
2) Depends on the product type. If you use balm or butter, it will always feel greasy because those products do not fully absorb in
I might be going on trip soon, what do you recommend to bring/buy?
I bring my normal products on a trip
@@DanCBearded Awesome 100% helped! Thanks Dan!!
You don't pine tar every day, right? Is the Lux pine tar your favorite?
Correct. Once a week. And yes, Lux would be my favorite for that
I use honest amish bar of soaps so i do my body then hair and face. I di my beard last. What always comfuse me is the beard shampoo. Can beard shampoo be use alone or have to use conditioner?
Depends on the beard wash/shampoo. If it’s stripping, I recommend conditioner after. If it’s daily/gentle, then no you do not need conditioner
What beard wash and conditioner do you recommend? I have tried a few but don’t know which one is good or that I like best so any suggestions would really help.
Give both a try from this company: Doctor Nicks= www.doctornicks.com/danc
* DANC = 15% off
So is the solid beard wash bar the only one you don't follow with conditioner or are there others that can be used the same way?
Any of the daily/gentle washes can be done that! Lcw, doctor nicks, copper Johns, WeatherBeard, and many more!
The over exfoliating would only be if you are pushing too hard or aggressively
For the days that you are not conditioning do you then leave the wash in your beard for a second as you wash your face then rinse both out?
I work it around in my beard and then rinse it out. I don’t really let it sit
There’s info out there that says tea tree oil is estrogenic. What do you think? Any detailed studies? I’ve stayed away from it for that reason.
No worries when topically applied in the amounts within safe/legal IFRA standards
Do you need conditioner on shorter beards? Could beard oil after he sufficient?
You don’t need conditioner until the beard is experiencing tangles and snags
hello Dan, I shower in the evening most of the times and I have a question. Like you I use the oil in the morning and the butter before bed, but do I have to put the beard oil again after showering and then the butter or just the butter. I know you mentioned this in one of your videos but can't find it. grtz
Beard oil after every shower 🤝
@@DanCBearded 🙏🙏 thanks, keep those videos coming... grtz from the Belgium waffle guy 😂😂
Hey, thoughts on olive oil for beard oil?
Totally fine!
@@DanCBearded any real benefits?
I’m trying to lock down a good routine for washing my beard daily. I currently use LCW and I also have the beard octane conditioner. So it’s LCW then conditioner, then a stripping wash every other day? No conditioner on stripping day?
I would totally shake that up. Here is my recommendation:
- Stripping wash once a week, followed by conditioner
- LCW the other 6 days of the week (yes, wash every day) but follow with conditioner only half of those days
@@DanCBearded Awesome, thanks for clearing that up for me, I’ll do as recommended! I’ve been abusing my beard to long..
You said you don’t need conditioner after using the solid beard wash. Why is that? I’ve been conditioning after using it, is it redundant?
Totally fine to use conditioner after. I just have found my beard loves wash only with that product
How long do you let the conditioner sit for ? And i wash my hair and beard last
It sits for as long as it takes me to wash my body and face. I would say 3-5 minutes
Hey Dan what’s the difference between BABC hog wash and it’s regular beard wash is one of them a stripping wash
Regular is stripping and hog is daily
@@DanCBearded thanks Dan learning a lot from you keep it up
how dry do you make your beard before conditioning?
Before oil? About 75% dry
Can you used your beard wash and beard conditioner for your head hair?
Yes, absolutely! I do at least half the time
@@DanCBearded i been doing that with doctor nick beard wash and conditioner! They do have number 9 after I just check!
Yup! Awesome stuff
The calves need their own bottle of no.7
Haha facts
I have random routines, but essentially I do about the same. I never thought of exfoliating while the beard wash is in beard. Question, could I use the face wash on the soul patch area not covered by beard? If you were bald, would you use face wash and beard wash on your head? Thank you DanC, love how you cover topics that are unique.
1) I would not use face wash on the soul patch area, I would use beard wash
2) I would use beard wash on a bald head too
@@DanCBearded The places I get the most acne issues is in the soul patch area. I use beard wash every day too. I have started exfoliating every time too. Any suggestions?
Exfoliating will for sure help!
I use both Doctor Nick's beard wash and face wash on my bald head and it works very well for me. On shaving days I use beard wash, on the other days I use the face wash.
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥🔥
🤝
If the wash removes oils, why does the one you use have so many oils in it?
It’s about lowering the pH level to not make the strip as harsh as
@@DanCBearded thanks!
That is one expensive shower!
Less expensive than a baby shower
@@DanCBearded 🤣
Lets see a routine that has less products maybe, this is too much
