In the dictionary, the entry for "Daunting Task" contains but 2 words : "Covering Epica". Yannis and The Harsh.... welp, time to fold my hand and walk away from the table. My vet was that he couldn't pull this one off. Raspy cleans and very cleanly recorded Harsh vocals. Well done indeed. He's definitely going to get into the rare space occupied by Tati, Marcela Bovio and a very few others as a very flexible artist. I'd have to take a very close listen to verify this, but there were times when the accompanying vocals almost sounded like a pitch-driven note... the kind of thing that is emphasiszed more in Yuvan throat singing... Did Yannis just do a very mild vocal pitch-shift self-accompaniment? If so, he has just opened a new vista for western vocals (ie, Euro/NewWorld). I mean, he has obviously been working on false-cord vocalizations... if anyone could harness them to proper-pitched self-accompaniment, it would be Yannis. EDIT : can we PLEASE have a mega-collab using this song as the basis, and include the talents of Michael Mills, Tatiana, Devin Townsend, Marcela, and maybe toss in Alyssa and Sharon... just toss the mic back and forth ... and don't forget Alex Terrible.
