Love that area this time of year and into mid September. Some of my bigger flatty’s of the season come from there. Sometimes in 5 feet of water.

Big fish in that bay. Small jigs. Seen fish over 10lbs in less than 8' of water. September will be excellent.

I fish that bay in my yak often. You had some challenging weather to fish it correctly . I use ultra light gear when conditions allow .

Haha, yea, it was far from ideal, but I was happy to be out there and make it work! If nothing else, it was much easier to fish than Montauk would have been!

So I do not ocean fish, why does the minimum length to keep fluke where you are fishing change by month?

Haha, so that's a great question! This year (unlike other years), the powers that be decided to shift the size limit for fluke from 19, to 19.5 inches from August until October. I suppose this is based off of data collected throughout the previous season though I can't say for certain of the exact reasons why!
