      Thanks Darren! We’re on the verge of being able to start moving my reef contents into it, just need to make sure the levels are stable...👍🏻 Then I just need a tank lol! 😂

      @@Reefgrrl Lol.. what size tank are you going with again?

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад

      @@RogueAquariums It’ll be 60”x66”x21”, calculates to 360G but actual water volume will be about 320 with displacement for rocks and sand, and reflecting finished water level. 😲

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад

      Thanks so much STR8 - we’ve made some refinements to the weight indicator after having used it but the basic principle remains. I needed something visual because the pump (and switch) is across the room, plus the trash can is opaque. My husband found the idea in a plumbing video but it was super complicated, so he modified it to suit what we needed. 👍🏻

    Welcome to the world of RUclips comments saying.. "you've got a lot going on down there" and "holy sh$#".. I watched this and kept thinking so many people are going to be impressed and overwhelmed at the same time.. your husband does great work.. I love the pulley system. I can't tell you how many times I've overflowed my ato holding tank because I've forgot about it while filling it up. If you want to get more flow through the other tanks and still use strainers you will just have increase the size of the drain pipes from tank to tank. It will only be as fast as the smallest diameter pipe will allow. Cant wait to see more!

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад

      Lol thanks Jon! I find MYSELF going “holy sh$# do I really want to do this?” quite often, but, here we are....😂 The pipes are all 1 1/2” and I knew there was a chance I’d have to throttle back the pump. Now I know a bit more, what to expect when the EFlow 12s get installed and we can be ready with parts to manage the pump flow if necessary once the tank is filled up and ready. But hey - I can bet there are still some surprises ahead.....😳 Thanks for watching! I’ll let you know when we christen the Blue Carbon Bridge...

    Wow, I didn't know that it required that much engineering to set up a large system like that. I don't think that I will ever get that opportunity, but I am happy with my 25 gallon tank. Great video, love your content and the ATO level is awesome!! Did I missed it in a previous episode, I will try to go back and review to see if I missed that some how.

    My dream type of build, wish I had the means to start mine, u guys have some tweaks to work out and some corrections I seen I wish I could've saved u time before hand but I guess thats how u guys learn. 1 thing to note is u guys need some more secondary or back up drain lines in the sump also larger for that size system

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад

      Right....can you be more specific? We’ve discussed this entire layout with several reefkeepers and there have been many changes since the original design.
      By secondary, do you mean emergency overflows? The shallow 50 has 2, the 150 has one, the first 100 is plumbed bulkhead-to-bulkhead, and we have to wait to locate the emergency in the final 100, until the plumbing is in for the return pumps (2, external) before we drill for an emergency. 🤷‍♀️

  • @captivebredcanada
    @captivebredcanada 3 года назад

    What a crazy setup! While this is certainly far more advanced then anything I've plumbed I do have 2 comments for you. 1) Are you just going to run 1 return pump or have you not setup a second one? I think 2 would be a good idea if you've gone to this crazy (good crazy) level of planning. 2)You are going to want to clean that ATO container out eventually so it would be a good idea to be able to get it out. Probably not more then every other year but this is your dream build so hopefully you will be automatically topping up for many many years to come.

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for stopping by Andrew! I’ll have a pair of Deltec eFlow12s, mounted externally, to run the entire system once I have the tank (pending Deltec USA providing the product to my LFS, who will be a retailer of Deltec in Canada). The Jebao is temporary, so I can run the sump and get it cycled, then move the contents of my reef into it. And I was kidding - that trash can went in between the studs, and it’ll come out again if necessary. 😁

    2 question why use pvc ball valves on the cpvc and why use cpvc at all? 4:24 coming from holding tank

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад

      Ummm, it’s all pvc. It’s printed clearly on the pipe. Not sure what your point is....
