i would like to add that you do not use acetone but actually use alcohol to clean up the smile line because these are gel soak off so if you use acetone u can be breaking down the base coat that you already applied.
True! It's much better to use alcohol as it won't affect the polish underneath.
Phi Le i use acetone all the time. my customer's nails never get cheap. small amount acetone cant be strong enough to break down the gel undercoat. even some case it will but the top will cover it for sure. some people prefer to use acetone as it define the line sharper n quicker than alcohol.

IT LOOKS SO EASY WHEN YOU DO IT
Nice video. This is one thing I love about LED Gel Polish. Once I have a cured clear coat, I can do a quick swipe of acetone to wipe away accent colors (or perfect French White lines), without it having any effect on the gel coats below. I've done this many times, and the manicure lasted 3 weeks! It did not break down the underlying coats. It makes sense, since to remove a gel manicure, you have to buff through the surface of the final clear coat, and then SOAK in acetone for 10 or 15 minutes, to get that gel polish to budge.

Just for future reference the lower the number the coarser the grit so the 100 is not the more fine, the 180 is

Are you feeling an unevenness when touching the finished nail with a french mani, considering that the free edge got two extra layers of gel and the rest of the nail doesn't?
Not really. The two coats of white are thin and the top coat self-levels. If you experience unevenness you can apply a second layer of top coat.

when you clean up the smile line always use alcohol. acetone removes gel polish :) so it will start to break it down. the skin is fine to use is if you choose.

No because the base is also gel. This was literally 7 years ago 💀 but if you're still here and replying to comments and stuff, it's just because the base was gel and already dryer I'm guessing.

What's the difference between the gel nail polish and the regular nail polish? And your nails look great!
Gel lasts longer it's also stronger and more shiny. Regular chips and doesn't last as long but is easier to apply.👍 (the application part is just my option)

I've tried this with a uv light but i think i screwed it up as after the curing the foundation, it was sticky. Is that normal?
arlene aguinaldo that's perfectly normal and each coat will stay sticky (although I wouldn't recommend touching them in between). The top coat will be sticky too until you wipe it with an alcohol pad.

That really depends on your preference. There are lots of sheer neutral colors that would work with a French mani.

Billie-Jo Bratton Im not sure if Andrea is a professional she does a nice job so i wouldnt be surprised if she is. I am and can tell you most gel polish lines will tell you not to clean up your lines with acetone, use alcohol it will remove the polish you need to clean up from the sides just as easy as acetone (as long as u clean up before curing) using a small amount on you brush (dab the excess off) and clean up your line. Good luck.

When I do gel nails I keep getting tip shrinkage! I'm applying a very thin coat and also topping off the edge. What is happening?
Some gel polishes do shrink back. I recommend flash curing to prevent this. Pop your hand in the lamp for 5-10 seconds immediately after applying the polish to a nail. Repeat for each nail and then cure the whole hand for the full length of time.
How do you keep your square nails so long? I use a garlic base but they always break in the edges!, your nails are beautiful!
