    You have some really good bargains there. I usually use Sunday to pop into various shops to top up my supplies, so today I think it will be Home Bargains and Lidl. Those chocolate croissants and cans of nuts are exceptionally good value.

    Got my pumpkins in for the winter. Good ones in M&S £1. Made my first pot of pumpkin soup. Pumpkin 🎃 number one is gone. Lol. 😂

    Good haul with some great bargins. I would also look at getting some packets of chestnuts as they are great for using as part of a rice stuffing for baked pumpkins. I also get canned mushrooms for the prepping pantry too at lidl.

    The herring in tomato sauce is fantastic! The stock is always available at LIDL here in Slovenia.

    Those pouch rice's are turning into my favourite food prep, so easy and versatile.
    What is the date on the peanuts ? I have found that the BBF date is getting shorter and shorter, last ones were less than 6 months 😞

    • @AnasFoodLifestyle
      @AnasFoodLifestyle  Месяц назад +4

      The date is few month but gets why they reduced, I don’t mind I have nuts couple of years past and they are ok still. But generally yes dates are getting shorter in foods but I think it’s a ploy to stop people stocking up

    • @Lee_Proffit
      @Lee_Proffit Месяц назад

      @@AnasFoodLifestyle I think that the dates are getting shorter because they are producing less of it - basically making it to order - to avoid the cost of storing it.
      I know "normal" people who never even look at BBF info on tins 😞

    99p for 5 '7 Days' filled croissants??? They are more than that for ONE her in the States! Walnuts are running about 4.58 GBP for about 227 grams. STOCK UP, people? I have grabbed whatever nuts I can and vacuum-sealed them in quart jars. Things will have to change in my baking and other foods,(like Walnut Chicken.)

      Both the minimum wage and average salaries in the UK are a lot less than America. It's not like for like to compare. Also taxes most working people pay here are much higher. There's a tax for everything.

    • @tonette6592
      @tonette6592 Месяц назад +1

      @@thathurt That is simply not true.With your last minimum-wage raise, it put you just about exactly at DOUBLE the minimum wage in the state where I live, and a number of others. They tax everything here, and if you pay more at all, you get free healthcare. Do you know that the majority of home foreclosures and personal bankruptcies are due to catastrophic medical bills? People are dying just from not bein g able to afford insulin, which was never supposed to be marketed for profit. I am on Social Security and get 'Medicare', but it comes out of my cut of SS, as does part of the supplemental to pay for more, and we have 'deductibles' , 'copayments' and certain things that are not covered at all, including eye care and dental. People are getting less and less Social Security payments than they did, and people in their 80s are working to support themselves and pay for medicine. They avoid any medical care they can or should. Younger people and families cannot get full-time jobs, as the loophole for corporations and businesses allows that if you hire for only part time work, (under 30 hours a week)., 0 they don't have to offer any benefits, so parents are working 2-3 jobs each, since prices are so high, they don't have health benefits and housing has skyrocketed. There will be more and more families on the streets, mark my word. That is when this government, and yours, since it is practically one, will swoop in to 'save them and us with total control. I have no idea where you are getting your information, but it is wrong. If you are looking at how much they get in California for minimum wage, a two-bedroom house costs a million
      dollars or more in many places.

    • @thathurt
      @thathurt Месяц назад

      @@tonette6592 fair enough. I presume you live in a state where the minimum wage is just $7.25 an hour. I don't envy anyone living on that. We do pay more taxes in social security (National insurance) and sales taxes (VAT here). Income tax is hard to compare. I hope things get easier for you, though I understand inflation and Government decisions and policies have screwed us all over the last few years. Our NHS looks good on paper but isn't functioning like it used to as it has been sold off and underfunded over the years. But I understand it's better than nothing. I didn't mean to cause offence. I was thinking more about average salaries not about the folks who can't work or are retired.

    • @tonette6592
      @tonette6592 Месяц назад

      @@thathurt As I said, 'salaries' are almost non-existent. Even people with advanced college degrees, (let alone a Bachelor's or Associate's degree), are h having trouble getting jobs that pay what they used to, or have the benefits they used to, let alone job security or full-time hours. People go on 6-month to year contracts and can get the boot; there are few places where one can get a retirement plan and benefits. Again, benefits or full-time employment is difficult and I am not talking about grocery clerks or ditch diggers; I am talking about bookkeepers, managers, etc. The unions have been gutted, if not destroyed for many industries. Housing is crazy, utilities are incredible. If you read what I said, both parents working 2 jobs each just to try to buy a house,(not janitorial work, mind you; often these are healthcare workers, teachers and the like), only to have it taken away when someone in the family gets a chronic or life-ending disease is beyond heartbreaking. We would welcome higher taxes to not lose homes, but I cannot see our taxes going higher than what we pay out of pocket.

    Well good morning Ana . First off , congratulations on your first cooking video . Yes i have watched it , though i will admit , i've not tried it yet . To be honest , i'm sure i've seen this before somewhere , but don't let that concern you . I do watch a lot of cooking channels , though none in particular . Yeah okay , a bit unusual for a bloke right . One comment i would make though , stop worrying about what you're wearing girl , the content is far more important . We've pushed you into this , yep guilty as charged , i'm no better than the rest , just concentrate on the content .
    Okay so now the reason for my post , basically i would like to lay something i've heard to rest concerning tinned Tomatoes . I've heard they can be problematical to long term store , due to their acidic content . Have you come across any problems , or do you store them in a certain way . Whats the maximum you store them for ? .
    I love the things , but i've heard the acidic content attacks the actual tin . I've stored several in not quite so ideal conditions for up to three years with no problem , but i would like to hear your comment on this statement .

    • @Lee_Proffit
      @Lee_Proffit Месяц назад +5

      On the tomatoes, I've had no problems but I would steer clear of the "pop top" ring pull type cans as they are thinner metal so a potential weak point.
      Totally agree on the clothes 👍🏼

    • @mickey1299
      @mickey1299 Месяц назад +4

      @@Lee_Proffit I believe the cans are lined with some kind of plastic film , which is also the reason you should be careful of damaged tins . If the plastic is true , that kinda eliminates the acidic attack theory , just wondered if Ana knew any better . But thank Lee , oh and by the way , yes , i had already heard about the thinner metal . To my mind , the actual pull is weaker too .

      @mickey1299 I do hear people mention the toms going bad but I yet to have an issue, although my tinned tomatoes don’t go further than 6/7months as we do go through and rotate them. I do however have few in tetra pack that are year past best before and seem ok.

    As a prepper how have you prepared mentally for a major SHTF situation? I only ask as this is something i think a lot of people don't consider
    Imagine utter chaos on the streets. Seeing death has become a daily occurrence. Hearing people screaming, begging for help and houses being broken into
    People can stock up on all the food and water possible but when you're subjected to that sort of situation and you're seeing and hearing things that you've never experienced before, how do you think you'll manage it?
    I know this is a dark comment but its a truth that everyone in the prepping community needs to start focusing on. You wont be the same person when SHTF
    Personally I've added books, puzzles, card games, board games and other stuff to my prep list. You'll need to give your mind a break even if its for an hour
    Have you thought about this at all? Thanks in advance

      I think most preppers will be holed up at home, and not out on the streets in amongst it all.
      I would be closing my curtains, bolting the doors and windows and doing my best to ride out the worst which would be 3-4 weeks.
      It will be brutal. I expect to lose the majority of friends and family who don't live round here, because they're wilfully ignoring what's going on every day in the world, and refusing to stock up, within a few weeks.
      Probably 80% of the population will die within a month or two, preppers might last a year or two without proper sanitation systems, no garbage collections and no shops to replenish stocks.
      Those that move out into the countryside will stand more chance of survival, but it depends what situation brought on the SHTF scenario. If it's nuclear, then no amount of tins will save us, lolz.

      Hi, I did think of that and I think the adrenaline will be kicking in big time. Depending on the scenario staying inside would be wise option. As for games, I have a young daughter so we do have loads of toys, games and puzzles so we can keep occupied for a long time 😊

      I think that ex-military will cope best mentally with a lot of what you are describing. Staying bolted up inside in a rural a house as possible will be safest... preferably away from any possible targets for bombs. It does depend how long things go on for too, as personal stores of food will quickly run out. Hopefully, rural living will be safer as how many people will walk for 20 miles or more knowing that there is no guarantee of any food after using up a ton of energy to get there
