      It's even more ironic than that actually, because that visual actually _doesn't_ come from Einstein's math, but from _Newton's_ model of gravity (and hence is really not a very good way of representing how GR explains gravity, even though pop sci videos do it all the time).

    It is actually great how the third newton law, "Every action has a reaction" being exemplified as a punch to someones face became an academical and proper way of teaching it, there is also the "Car hits a wall with someone inside". I love physics

    I was recently reading on the history of the logarithm and how people used it to actually calculate stuff. The logarithm has this cool property that log(a*b) = log(a)+log(b) and when you think about it for a second you will see that to calculate the logarithm of any natural number you only need to know the logarithms of the prime numbers since you can write every number as a product of prime numbers and then apply the logarithms functional equation. And there are some tricks to calculate the logarithms of prime numbers very efficiently and supposedly Newton calculated the logarithms of prime numbers up to 50 decimal points. Really puts into perspective how much ingenuity these people had.
