Reason why people get depressed more often nowadays is not only because of technology and more awareness and attention to the subject, but also because people have an idea that happiness can be achieved by having certain criteria in your life; Like having a "husband/wife", having many friends, living a certain lifestyle. Which is not true for everybody, and probably even for you. For me, I realized it when I was surrounded by amazing people, that sincerely cared for me and everything, and we were out having fun... I was content yes, because I was fulfilling something I thought brings happiness. But realized that hollow inside was still present. Because that wasn't what would make me resolve that sense of emptiness. It was rather building a career that would fulfill my ambitions that I had since a young girl and being closer to my family. And it wasn't having a large group of friends, or being liked by everyone or going out everynight that would make me happy. Not everyone have the same recipe for happiness, and not everybody will be happy by relying on one recipe for happiness. Everyone have to make one their own that works for them. It's a matter of understanding what works and doesn't and adjust.
