I use Blizzard and Frozen Orb, but with maxed out Ice Blast, not Glacial Spike. And I must say, I never had this much fun with an Ice Sorc before. The two skills balance each other out very nicely. For example for all the little enemies like in Flayer jungle a Frozen Orb is enough and it is a lot faster and more precise/better aoe, for the big boys and Unique Monsters first Blizzard followed by two Orbs and Blizzard again and in between Ice Bolts. Super flexible and fast build that combines advantages of both skills.
Ah yeah ice blast does great damage, also nice, although it only can freeze one target, so less crowd control... great times for all kind of cold sorc! =)
I'm building a sorceress on the same build, which is lvl 71 and currently on stage 1 in hell. Totally agree with everything said here. "Balanced" and "flexible" are exactly the right words in my own experience. Extremely fun and aesthetically beautiful build, very different from a hammerdin on these plans (that's my opinion anyway), to compare to a very powerful and versatile build. If I can add anything, it's not a monster in HP, but the crowd control abilities are wonderful and prevent a lot of damage.
To add sth - before CTA, if u have insight, u can add staff on switch which adds +energy shield (i got unique +3 sorc +3 energy shield). Even if u invest in vita, with some medium gear and insight+prayer merc this will greatly boost ur surviveability and wont need as much resists.
This guide is top shelf! Showing the progression of gear and how it relates to skill point allocations is awesome. Thank you for investing your time to make this!
NP! I love this build so much, its much better than the old ES builds....in old days cold sorc was not playable like this because of global casting delays, now you get such a killspeed combining the attacks, also cold immunes are no more because of the new charms....when farming players 8 games I beat every hammerdin and I dont even have skillers yet lol....
Another thing alot of people dont realize is that the cold orb used in conjunction with blizzard is mega op, because the orb has a huge area of affect to proc chill on the mob (make them blue) and then while chilled if the blizzard hits thats a instant kill turning the mobs into crushed ice. I believe this may be a mechanic tied in with blizzard where the first flury from blizzard to hit chills with some damage and the second shatters instantly killing them. So if you chill them first with orb blizzard becomes way more effective even at super low damage outputs (id still recommend a 1k orb tho just to deal with the flying mobs that blizzard has a hard time hitting).
@@Agon1sttthat's what I'm going to try when I respec. Every cold sorc I played has used fo. Tired of it now. I like how glacial spike freezes the monsters so you can keep them in the blizzard.
Since they removed the global cooldowns the combos for ice is great. Hit them with a bliz, when they break through during the cooldown, hit FO, then send GS. Doing Baal or something with tons of HP replace the GS with a couple ice blasts for an increase in single target damage. No other element has better combos than ice. Most do not consider how the longer cooldown skills can be boosted by casting others spells as it is sorta new. Combined with the ice sunder they are crazy crazy.
You did the exact video I was planning-blizzard and orb-you get the sustain of a full-powered orb, and the heavy hitting of blizzard. With cold sunder it’s pretty fucking sweet.

I am using FO +Blizz on HC and its OPAF, for HC variant I maxed just fo blizz and mastery for sunder and immunes, then telekinesis and rest into energy shield, with pre cast you get close to 90% es with maxed tk, gerke+gladiator and HC is Conquered on budget!
The best quality of life and probably highest dps is max out orb + synergy, max out blizzard and ice blast, rest in cold mastery until u get - 195 with facets for cold immunes, then max out last blizzard synergy if u got points. 1 warmth 1 frozen armor, static and teleport ofc. This way u get max frozen orb to kill all the hard to hit trash mobs (and also high single target dps), almost max out blizzard to kill groups/bosses and max out iceblast to add single target dmg in between blizzard and orb casts (rarely used coz everything dies to blizzard orb). Ultimate cold sorc build, super smooth and fun to use and probably as fast as endgame light, capable of doing ubers also with right strat. Also fun to use blizzard and orb without them sharing cooldown, just smooth clearing everything on screen even on semi budget gear.
no, I cant agree. Ice blast makes high single target damage but using Nova + FO + Blizzard is just superior in mass kill speed. For Boss Killing, maybe you are right...

Also trying out the glacial spike instead of ice blast max, u get some more CC aoe and faster missile speed but lower single target dmg. Nova hybrid is fun 2, i just prefer orb with blizz as strong as possible, also trying to get into max dmg orbs range sweet spot is kinda counter intuitive with nova imo
For PVP to get more damage and enemy resistance put Doom Double axe - 60 cold resistance and put a coronet + 3 cold skills +20 FCR with 2 socketed tu pick - 10 enemy resistance. Deaths fathom and nightwings sucks for PvP. Itens that can provide - cold resistance is more important than cold skill damage.
I use guardian angel and stormshield for an extra perfect survivability. I forego damage in favor of 50%DR, 95@res except 90 PSN. Max block. Immortal sorc :)

I run the blizzard frozen orb. I utilize staticfield on bosses. Fun character to play. Kills dclone with ease. I wouldn't attempt Uber tristram with her myself but I'm sure it's possible
I use Blizzard + FO and it's the best. By the time you hit the mid-90s and have decent gear, Maxing FO only reduces Blizzard damage by about 15% to 20%, even against cold immunes. So you have an actual DPS rotation: Blizz-FO-Blizz-FO-FO-Blizz... etc.
Would you use a headhunters glory with 3x 5/5 cold facet with 65 fcr or spirit shield for 105 fcr? Damage is about the same number wise but with the facet shield you get an extra -5 cold res to enemies and +15 cold dmg on skills
Would be nice to get to 105 with headhunters, but the -5% coldres make no big difference in the end, and when the shown damage is the same, those 15% cold damage are already calculated in there, so in this case spirit would be better imo...

I think the cold orb damage is what each of those little triangles do if it comes into contact with the enemy in question, not overall damage. So the character screen is not really lying to you. Its just misleading try this one time if you position yourself just far enough away from the mob your attacking with cold orb that the orb does its final explosion inside of the mob you will gain the damage multiplied by how ever many triangles fly out of the orb and come into contact with the mob even from inside of them. Good video tho keep it up bud
I'm thinking to respec to Blizz+FO at 92, but I think 150% Cold Pen is enough, no? You'd only lose some DPS to previously Cold Immune, and those still die fast. Otherwise, I end up losing a lot of DPS for Blizzard (not enough points).

Don't know much about res but when I did the diablo clone I couldn't do enough damage to him since he was healing up so after damage him and dodging his moves he will heal up but when I slap 2 cold sunder charms on my damage double and I beat him so ya I alway say more lower res the better now
It's a shame cuz I'm so burnt out on blizz. I made blizz when D2R came out did it for first ladder season so kinda burnt out. The way ice mastery works though with sunder charm is gonna make blizz the ultimate sorc for pvm though. I was super bummed bout sunder charms not working on assassin's lite traps or any other traps for that matter. Would have mate it super fun to make other mf/pvm Chars.

Hi I am lvl 67 atm just starting hell. Was running random blizz + meteor build but damage was so crap- unable to do hell. Switched to FO and really like it for nightmare Baal, but wondering how to get that sunder item for cold imune . I believe it can be farmed in hell terorized areas? But how do I farm it with half monsters cold imune in hell?
yeah its possible but ES build has way less killspeed..... with my build I beat hammerdins in P8 games, and I dont even got skillers yet on my online sorc xD
also since I am above 1000 Mana i never get trouble with mana with lvl 16 medi aura... playing ES u need to care about so many stuff, poisen damage, mana burn, blood mana... I compared and I would never go back to ES again^^
@@MountArreatD2R your gears must be very good. I asked some guys in a forum, most of them found frozen nova lack of damage, especially for elites. My gears are not good now. Maybe i will try it in the future
I'm building an orb/blizzard sorceress, level 71 and that I was able to actually test on the end of the nightmare and the beginning of hell on non-immune packs and champions. I totally confirm what is said in this guide on this build, which is really fun, powerful. Everything seems fair to me. For example thinking about the build in my corner, I thought that prayer became better than holy freeze or might for the mercenary. For those who are reluctant to fragile builds, survivability is better than a pure blizzard. He's obviously not a windy druid either. What I heard here about the blizz/orb sorceress and that I can compare to my own experience, because it seems very relevant to me, thought out and explained, gives me a lot of desire to try the frost nova build. And also to watch other videos of this channel that I discover.
yeah when having mid budget gear or higher the nova build is just op, the combined killspeed eats every hammerdin in P8 farming... Also mana problems will be gone when reaching over 1000 Mana and having at least lvl 16 meditation aura =)
@@MountArreatD2RThanks for the suggestion. I'll probably try at some point, but I'll probably have less time to play diablo in the near future. I have a non ladder witch that I'll probably respec, it's a frozen orb/hydra. Certainly there will not be the charm necessary for immunes, but I will use it while waiting for the end of the ladder in zones like the arachnid lair or, even better, the ancient tunnels. the old build doesn't interest me at all, so might as well try something else. I also do not understand the enthusiasm for this build, it certainly does almost everything correctly, but it does not shine anywhere.
I talked about changing some gear parts for mf if needed, did you miss that? 😕 Dmg Gear is for rapidly farming on players 8, remember killspeed > MF, and on P8 you already have better drop rates. So pushing mf is great for Solo farming, but in P8 I would not give up killspeed for MF. MF also is maybe kinda overrated, the most effect you get from the first 100-200% MF...
I just have a full tals set…socket with cold facet. I think I have 1 cold skillet and my dmg is like…6.6k. Can’t say I’m too upset considering how cheap it was.
Do i understand it right, the cold mastery skill does decrease monsters cold resi, so i can even kill cold immune? thought they patched out that one earlier.
It's a fairly wrong Title, because Cold Sorceress is not just the "Best Sorc" its just the "Best at all in D2R" since Cold Sunder exists compared to ALL other Builds AND Characters! :P

Is it possible to play this build in non ladder somehow? I just realised my sorc is created on normal and I will not be able to get cold sunder:(( And I already reseted all skills and made this build:D
How about the mobs immune to cold? That is very annoying. I hate letting the merc getting them and I can’t do anything. I tried building a lightning sorc, but there are mobs immune to lighting… same with the cold build, I don’t know how you killed those in that ice cave, are you sure this combination of skills work on cold resisting mobs?
then you play wrong maybe...not only use nova, mix in FO and Blizzard like I recommended.... I farm P8 with my online sorc yet and I beat hammerdins even though I got no SKillers yet ^^
Well for blizzard and cold skills you want the mobs concentrated on merc, but I would suggest using that on merc in dangerous areas like souls and wsk farming before you are geared well. because delirium keeps them really spaced out due to confuse curse
depends. a lot of the things you want to find are independet of mf like runes and if you are running for bases you want preferably 0 mf. and then again does it really need to be a compromise mostly. usually you want 250-350 mf for mfing. more than that usually means sacrificing a lot of killspeed and then it's just not worth it. i usually run 114 on my light sorc with full dmg build and 325 with some mf swaps.

If it doesn't include Eshield it's a crap build. Time to watch the full vid. Immediately mentions all remaining points into vitality. Yeah nah that's not the best build. When will people realize the returns on vita sorc are terrible and you can basically become immortal with eshield and I'm not even talking immortal sorc builds.
@@kylewatson5133 No real cost to damage unless you're talking cold immunes. Meanwhile survival increases tremendously so you aren't losing exp while doing terror zones. If for example you have cta for the build you're losing 4 talent points to get to energy shield without memory or warpspear. So -20 cold mastery. But CM should already be maxed out for normal mobs. Also you can max CM out instead and just make icebolt your last priority minimizing the damage loss if you intend to farm cold immune areas. You could even make a cta out of an energy shield base not losing any points. The return in efficiency and lack of potion use more than makes up for the damage small damage loss of 4 talent points.
@@kylewatson5133 No, it's unnecessary to fully invest into telekenesis with a blizzard build. It doesn't consume as much mana as nova. The whole point of eshield blizz build is to make teleportation essentially free and doubling your hp. Your mana regen is so high you can slap a plague on an act5 merc and never have to worry about poison or curses again. Or if you want even more mana regen you can go with a typical insight but I prefer a5 using plague. Eventually you move into a cookie cutter nova sorc once you've farmed enough gear. I've always found eshield energy investment blizz build to be drastically more efficient than anything streamers continue to post. Warp spear and frostburn are the starter items along with grabbing some tal gear to boost your hp since you won't be investing anything into vitality. Mid tier tal set + sojs and trang gloves. Boots usually prefer Sandstorm until my merc has a plague.
ES is for HC, if you need ES on SC you are noob, sorry. I prefere killspeed/damage output. You seem to be stuck in Vanilla Build times and not wanna learn something new, its okay bro, go play your boring ES build and let the big guys have their fun xD
I feel like these sunder charms are taking the fun out of the game, I am able to solo farm everything at full game with a 2-day old sorc, having basic items like spirit, ral ort tal shield, tal eth armor.. it is no fun like this, I dont have an incentive to play..
@@MountArreatD2R hammerdin game play is not fun to everyone, and being able to clear everything as a blizz sorc with little to no effort is no challenge, u get bored fast.. I play the game for 20 years and this is my opinion

D2R 2.6 release will have new items. When farming terror zone you will have the chance to kill monsters and hope for a zender charm. When you wear the zender charm, the monster no longer see you and you can finish the game without even fighting!!

You can achieve the same effect you mentioned with Glacial Spike which is a synergy for Blizzard and has pretty decent AoE, no need for Frozen Orb

When is see frost orb i am always reminiscent to the classic era when orb had no cast delay and you were only limited by FCR, Mana and survivability.

I think frozen enemies don't drop any loot. I had a champion (gold one) and it dropped nothing. Is that a flaw of cold builds? Seems strange...

I made blizz when D2R came out did it for first ladder season so kinda burnt out.
The way ice mastery works though with sunder charm is gonna make blizz the ultimate sorc for pvm though.
I was super bummed bout sunder charms not working on assassin's lite traps or any other traps for that matter.
Would have mate it super fun to make other mf/pvm Chars.

So is a -90% or -70% better on the sundered charms? I still haven't got one yet, but just trying to see what I need to keep an eye out for.
They all apply the same effect on the enemy, the -res refers to how much res penalty the charm inflicts on you as a player. so 70 is best.
@Joe L. ahhh, I thought it was player and mob based -%. That's good to know and thanks for the information. The sundered is for mobs, the -% is for player resistances.

Switched to FO and really like it for nightmare Baal, but wondering how to get that sunder item for cold imune . I believe it can be farmed in hell terorized areas? But how do I farm it with half monsters cold imune in hell?

yeah its possible but ES build has way less killspeed.....
with my build I beat hammerdins in P8 games, and I dont even got skillers yet on my online sorc xD
also since I am above 1000 Mana i never get trouble with mana with lvl 16 medi aura...
playing ES u need to care about so many stuff, poisen damage, mana burn, blood mana... I compared and I would never go back to ES again^^

I'm building an orb/blizzard sorceress, level 71 and that I was able to actually test on the end of the nightmare and the beginning of hell on non-immune packs and champions.
I totally confirm what is said in this guide on this build, which is really fun, powerful. Everything seems fair to me. For example thinking about the build in my corner, I thought that prayer became better than holy freeze or might for the mercenary. For those who are reluctant to fragile builds, survivability is better than a pure blizzard. He's obviously not a windy druid either.
What I heard here about the blizz/orb sorceress and that I can compare to my own experience, because it seems very relevant to me, thought out and explained, gives me a lot of desire to try the frost nova build. And also to watch other videos of this channel that I discover.
yeah when having mid budget gear or higher the nova build is just op, the combined killspeed eats every hammerdin in P8 farming...
Also mana problems will be gone when reaching over 1000 Mana and having at least lvl 16 meditation aura =)
@@MountArreatD2RThanks for the suggestion. I'll probably try at some point, but I'll probably have less time to play diablo in the near future. I have a non ladder witch that I'll probably respec, it's a frozen orb/hydra.
Certainly there will not be the charm necessary for immunes, but I will use it while waiting for the end of the ladder in zones like the arachnid lair or, even better, the ancient tunnels.
the old build doesn't interest me at all, so might as well try something else.
I also do not understand the enthusiasm for this build, it certainly does almost everything correctly, but it does not shine anywhere.
Overall nice video, but I prefer my MF 350% sorceress more, although it has significantly less damage. What is your MF? I see only 118% MF.
It's much more efficient to kill faster even around 100 or 200 MF
I talked about changing some gear parts for mf if needed, did you miss that? 😕
Dmg Gear is for rapidly farming on players 8, remember killspeed > MF, and on P8 you already have better drop rates.
So pushing mf is great for Solo farming, but in P8 I would not give up killspeed for MF.
MF also is maybe kinda overrated, the most effect you get from the first 100-200% MF...

I just have a full tals set…socket with cold facet. I think I have 1 cold skillet and my dmg is like…6.6k. Can’t say I’m too upset considering how cheap it was.
Do i understand it right, the cold mastery skill does decrease monsters cold resi, so i can even kill cold immune? thought they patched out that one earlier.

Depends on how many cold facetts u use....if no facetts, no more than -195% are useful, so that would be at skillevel 36

No. I just asked this in reddit..charms ladders only. TZ can be non ladder online only, but u get no charm drop

It's a fairly wrong Title, because Cold Sorceress is not just the "Best Sorc" its just the "Best at all in D2R" since Cold Sunder exists compared to ALL other Builds AND Characters! :P

when sundercharms come over in a few days, yes...otherwise u have probs with cold immunes!

How about the mobs immune to cold? That is very annoying. I hate letting the merc getting them and I can’t do anything.
I tried building a lightning sorc, but there are mobs immune to lighting… same with the cold build, I don’t know how you killed those in that ice cave, are you sure this combination of skills work on cold resisting mobs?
Using Sunder Charm, there are no cold immunes. Having Cold Mastery Skilled, you kill everything fast! =)

I downloaded a SP char from reddit who had all charms...
for other items in SP I use old D2, hero editor and item packs or when I need something special I can also create all items by editor...

I built a frost nova sorc and she slaps p1-p3. I doubt she would do well p8. Blizz needs to tweak some numbers
then you play wrong maybe...not only use nova, mix in FO and Blizzard like I recommended....
I farm P8 with my online sorc yet and I beat hammerdins even though I got no SKillers yet ^^

Well for blizzard and cold skills you want the mobs concentrated on merc, but I would suggest using that on merc in dangerous areas like souls and wsk farming before you are geared well. because delirium keeps them really spaced out due to confuse curse

Full damage build with low Magic Find is useless in D2. Concentrate on getting a compromise between high magic find and damage is the way to go.
depends. a lot of the things you want to find are independet of mf like runes and if you are running for bases you want preferably 0 mf. and then again does it really need to be a compromise mostly. usually you want 250-350 mf for mfing. more than that usually means sacrificing a lot of killspeed and then it's just not worth it.
i usually run 114 on my light sorc with full dmg build and 325 with some mf swaps.
Just wish I could loot a damn sunder charm!

If it doesn't include Eshield it's a crap build. Time to watch the full vid. Immediately mentions all remaining points into vitality. Yeah nah that's not the best build. When will people realize the returns on vita sorc are terrible and you can basically become immortal with eshield and I'm not even talking immortal sorc builds.

@@kylewatson5133 No real cost to damage unless you're talking cold immunes. Meanwhile survival increases tremendously so you aren't losing exp while doing terror zones. If for example you have cta for the build you're losing 4 talent points to get to energy shield without memory or warpspear. So -20 cold mastery. But CM should already be maxed out for normal mobs. Also you can max CM out instead and just make icebolt your last priority minimizing the damage loss if you intend to farm cold immune areas. You could even make a cta out of an energy shield base not losing any points. The return in efficiency and lack of potion use more than makes up for the damage small damage loss of 4 talent points.

@@kylewatson5133 No, it's unnecessary to fully invest into telekenesis with a blizzard build. It doesn't consume as much mana as nova. The whole point of eshield blizz build is to make teleportation essentially free and doubling your hp. Your mana regen is so high you can slap a plague on an act5 merc and never have to worry about poison or curses again. Or if you want even more mana regen you can go with a typical insight but I prefer a5 using plague. Eventually you move into a cookie cutter nova sorc once you've farmed enough gear.
I've always found eshield energy investment blizz build to be drastically more efficient than anything streamers continue to post. Warp spear and frostburn are the starter items along with grabbing some tal gear to boost your hp since you won't be investing anything into vitality. Mid tier tal set + sojs and trang gloves. Boots usually prefer Sandstorm until my merc has a plague.
ES is for HC, if you need ES on SC you are noob, sorry.
I prefere killspeed/damage output.
You seem to be stuck in Vanilla Build times and not wanna learn something new, its okay bro, go play your boring ES build and let the big guys have their fun xD
I feel like these sunder charms are taking the fun out of the game, I am able to solo farm everything at full game with a 2-day old sorc, having basic items like spirit, ral ort tal shield, tal eth armor.. it is no fun like this, I dont have an incentive to play..

Holy shit this build is terrible. Get an enigma, dump all your points to max Blizzard, -195 cold mastery, rest in frozen orb. 1200 orb damage, 13k blizzard damage. Frost nova < orb +blizz

D2R 2.6 release will have new items. When farming terror zone you will have the chance to kill monsters and hope for a zender charm. When you wear the zender charm, the monster no longer see you and you can finish the game without even fighting!!
