    I really like the level of weathering you used. I see so many models that are overdone and look like they've been on the front lines for years. Having something that is close to new looking is just perfect. You have to remember, these planes were delivered from the factory new and there is a point in every planes life where it isn't a worn out, weathered battle queen. I very much enjoyed watching your craftsmanship!

      Sounds not quite right to me. There's no air worthy La-5. There's not even any whole La-5s. What you probably saw? could have been a Yak-11? There are quite a few of these around, since they were two-seat trainers and built after WW2. The air racing ones were of course modified to be single seaters. They are similar (to La-5), because these lines of fighters (Yak- and La-) were derived from the same basis, Lagg-3.

    I like the "sausage" technique that you used for the camouflage paint scheme, the results are great. What advice would you give on what to do, and what not to do, when using this technique? Thanks!

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  3 года назад +1

      Hi!
      What to do: take a fresh "blu tack", the thinner the sausage, the more clear the border between flowers will be, have clean hands, roll the sausages on a clean surface, the dirty "blu tack" does not adhere well to the surface of the model.
      What not to do: do not apply paint under the sausage, the paint stream should hit the surface perpendicularly.
      It is difficult to apply camouflage with winding borders with sausages, for example, on RAF aircraft, watch the video where I apply camouflage on the Hurricane ruclips.net/video/K8cB0pVVFxo/видео.html

    Hi, ¿anyone can post a video or something else of how to make the antenna cable and the metal part at the edges of it? I ve seen the video completely but no anything about it. TY

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  2 года назад

      The video does not show the process of making the antenna because it is very inconvenient to shoot.
      My antennae are made from rubber beaded string. It is thick, but consists of many thin threads glued together. I separate them under a microscope, three or four thin threads give a thickness of about 0.2 - 0.3 mm. After that, I glue the thread on one side into the hole of the desired diameter using superglue. Then I try on the length of the thread, pulling it a little (it's rubber). I cut it off with a small margin and paste it on the other side, pulling it a little so that it does not sag.
      The insulators on the antenna are made from a cotton swab stretched over a fire. Then you can cut pieces of the desired length and thread the thread through them before gluing.
      I hope I explained clearly.
      There are special threads for making antennas on models, but they are not available to me and are too expensive.
      You can use 0.1 or 0.2 mm thick fishing line, but it is difficult to tighten and the antenna can be broken.
      The part of process you can see here ruclips.net/video/K8cB0pVVFxo/видео.html

    О Лавочка😊да ещё и от Звезды. Наконец увидел какова сейчас Звезда, а то тут на днях посмотрел 3 или 4 сборки Ил-2 и придурел никто щелей не удаляет на стыках от слова совсем. Модельку ещё бы чуток пошоркать, а то как муха не сидела и ей бы цены не было.

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  2 года назад +2

      Ну новый Ил-2 в 48-м масштабе вообще шпаклевать не нужно если аккуратно собирать. А Ла-5 это старая модель, одна из первых "новых" моделей Звёзды. Не без косяков, конечно, но неплохо.
      Шоркать особо не умею пока и чтобы не испортить оставил чистым.

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  4 года назад +2

      Seatbelts are made of aluminum foil from the lid of a yogurt can. Such foil is colored on one side and the paint adheres well to it. It bends easily. The buckles are made of thin tinned wire and I bent them with tweezers.

    • @LubieOwnic
      @LubieOwnic 4 года назад

      @@MadeInScale Damn that's some great precision dude, Im making the same model it's my first one (don't count the ones I made very young) I'm using brushes and acrylic paints (yamiya and pactra) I know you have to use primer for acrilic paints but do have to paint every single little part with primer (I'm using car primer in spray) so the paint won't come off? I will be using wash and pigments on the model then mat car spray in can.

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  4 года назад

      What acrylic paint will you use? Do a test with paint on a sprue and see how the paint adheres to the plastic. If the paint lays down well and does not peel off the plastic, then every little thing does not need to be primed.

    • @LubieOwnic
      @LubieOwnic 4 года назад

      @@MadeInScale Tamiya and pactra, peel of with nails or itself? Thanks of the answear.

    • @MadeInScale
      @MadeInScale  4 года назад

      @@LubieOwnic I don't know what pactra is, but tamiya behaves normally, but I would use primer first.
      In any case, it is better to do a test painting.
      If you want, you can scrape off any paint with your nails.
      Sometimes acrylic paint won't adhere well to plastic. Small parts can be primed directly onto the sprue.
