Glad you ended up enjoying it! It's a common sight in the office to play Bullet and see how many the person next to you sent your way then being OFFENDED at their sheer AUDACITY to have sent you that much. "HOW DARE YOU SEND me 18!?"
The Battle Wizards series has an interesting take on player elimination: Players who are eliminated instead spend their turns drawing Death cards, some of which can give them bonuses in the next battle.
Great review Alex, just picked up a retail copy of this, going to put the tokens in coin capsules as I agree the retail punchboard tokens are very flimsy but the wooden tokens are on back order until May 2022. The theme doesn't really do it for me either but the game looks unlike anything else in my collection and One Stop Co-op shop love it so figured I would give it a try.
I missed this when it was on KS, hopefully I can grab the KS edition on the secondhand market. Those chunky tokens look nice. I love bullet hell shmups and I'm glad you brought up that the characters all feel unique because my initial concern with Bullet was that everything would feel same-y. I'll definitely be grabbing it at some point!
that's fantastic to know. I had access to PM but never upgraded to proper pledge because of my then situation with money and everything, and now I'm regretting it a bit (too many good but expensive games coming out though...) ... but if they are doing another kickstarter later this year, I will be paying close attention!
Just received an email from Level99 that says pre-order for Bullet⭐️ and wooden tokens opens in Aug. Looking forward to those chunky wooden tokens in the bag :)
I was hoping for a review of this game from you. I got super excited hearing the nice clicky clacky noises from the bullets, and then I saw the box that said "Deluxe Edition" :'(
I really love this game, reminds me of puzzle fighter or puzzle strike. And there are a truck load of mode. The boss mode is crazy hard. But the character are not that balance. Some character clearly has an advantage when fighting other character, especially in the boss mode
@@BoardGameCo did you beat only 1 boss with timer or without the timer? I'm trying to measure how hard they are because I'm planning to play this mostly coop with timer.
ive been really enjoying the game i only use the survival based solo mode for learning a characters patterns before i play boss mode with the timer :) my review of the solo will be coming soon so far it reminds me of something like dr robotnics mean bean machine or the puyo puyo games
Great review! Just ordered this one, can't wait for it to arrive! Watching this review is both a boon and a curse--I can scratch my itch for the game a bit but get more excited about it at the same time haha. I have to say though, as a non-native English speaker, it was a bit hard for me to understand some parts of your demo/review, it was just a bit too fast for me.
This is a spot on review. I agree about the terminology in the game and it could be done much better. Also the luck of the draw from the main bag each round. Sometimes, you just get too many of one color. I think the bullets from the main bag should be drafted or you should be able to choose which bullets you want. Then the bullets from other players will have more of an effect on your game.
Like the game and the anime-ish artwork. The push your luck aspect does sometimes gets me fustrated. Definately less mitagation possibility than Under Falling skies.
This make feels like one of the hundreds of puzzle apps for you phone. Connect X number of tokens or make a certain pattern, erase that and continue drawing. Not a board game I need.
Anime style ridiculously oversexualised teenage girls with unpronounceable names - sorry, that's a very hard pass for me. I don't care how good the actual game is. I'll wait a few years for a reputable company to release a version of it with a more palatable theme.
So you see teenage girls as sexual even when they are presented completely normally? And you consider Japanese names 'unpronouncable'? You don't deserve to play this game you racist creep.
Ah yes the one that people were defending the sexual exploitation of minors as “just anime”, that is partnering with a company for the expansion that sells its underage girls on body pillows with up skirt back shots. Why does a pillow need the back of an underage girl on it? Why are they marketed at adult men? Why do you want a Boardgame with that theme in your house?
The purpose of this answer is to give Alex a chuckle if he reads it (it's a copy/paste from Wikipedia). The mind projection fallacy is an informal fallacy first described by physicist and Bayesian philosopher E. T. Jaynes. It occurs when someone thinks that the way they see the world reflects the way the world really is, going as far as assuming the real existence of imagined objects.[1] That is, someone's subjective judgments are "projected" to be inherent properties of an object, rather than being related to personal perception. One consequence is that others may be assumed to share the same perception, or that they are irrational or misinformed if they do not. An association fallacy is an informal inductive fallacy of the hasty-generalization or red-herring type and which asserts, by irrelevant association and often by appeal to emotion, that qualities of one thing are inherently qualities of another. Two types of association fallacies are sometimes referred to as guilt by association and honor by association. Non sequitur is a Latin phrase meaning "it does not follow". It means that the conclusion reached does not follow from the premise(s). Oftentimes, examples of non sequitur arguments are hilariously disconnected, but those encountered in the wild can be subtle and may not be easily uncovered. The reason that such arguments are fallacious in logic should be fairly obvious. A loaded question is a logical fallacy that occurs when statements or questions are designed to confuse listeners into tacitly accepting something (which isn't obviously clear in the question) as true.

Yes! But so much fun on the other end :)
Yeah!!! Been waiting for this review🙂
Hope you enjoyed :)
Yeah! Was wondering when you were gonna do this one. I love Japanese shmups/bullet hell shooters and this is definitely the boardgame equivalent.
This game reminded me of Puzzle Fighters + Touhou Project
Yep, it's a cool transition.
This is one I regret not backing . Tnx for the review :)
Happy to help :)
The Battle Wizards series has an interesting take on player elimination: Players who are eliminated instead spend their turns drawing Death cards, some of which can give them bonuses in the next battle.
Interesting, that sounds fun.
The cardboard tokens with the standard game are perfectly fine. Its actually thicker cardboard and not as cheap as you'd get with most other games.
I have them....but I can't use them having used the wood ones :)
The timer is mandatory for the best experience imo. The game should feel fast and exciting just like the 1v1 puzzle games it tries to simulate.
I agree personally, but some people really don't like timers and I've enjoyed the game without it too.

Oh four on five? That's a solid game. I was interested about this game now even more....cool
It's really good, I like it a lot, not 5/5 material but excellent game.
What's the optimal player count
For me 3, but 2 as a head to head is a lot of fun too.

That's good to know Maria, thanks!

It's a solid game but ya, I feel those tokens are essential.
Coin protectors fixes the standard version

d'oh, those tokens aren't in the retail version? :(
@Maria R I was reading that 25mm coin capsules work as a great alternative. :)
@@BayonetRecon 25mm should be just nice. I had some 26 and were abit too big to fit the board
Sadly not.

Yep, I like it a lot, but for solo I'm reaching for Under Falling Skies first.
Such a shame that the wooden bullets only come from the kickstarter.
Yep, I think they're awesome.
I think they plan on selling them on their own webstore in the future; they'll definitely have them in the next kickstarter for the expansion as well.
Wait what? There's a deluxe version? Errgh
It doesn’t sound like he actually enjoyed the game.

You speak too fast. So fast that even the automatic youtube subtitles does not work :(

Lol I can't even lol
If you find fully clothed no cleavage images of girls oversexualised. You may need to be registered on a list.
