Just wanted to share some advice I picked up from a guide that really made my mending more effective. "It's ok if your mend ruins your drift for a foot or two if it means it will be natural for the remaining 90% of the drift." For whatever reason I had always obsessed over trying to make the enitre drift perfect. And more often than not, that usually meant my drift fell apart halfway through cause I hadn't mended enough early on. But just doing it right in that first few feet so everything is setup for the rest of the drift means more often than not that you're drag free for the majority of the drift. It's simple advice but something I think many of us struggle with.
That lift, move, and set method is going to make me 20% huger. Thanks Ben
Beer Belly: Every man must build a shelter over his tools. I'm working on an estate.
"Don't worry if your'e not catching fish. There's plenty of other stuff to do out there". That's cute.
Great presentation quick and simple!
I fish tenkara and never mend....but clicked anyway to show support.
Always look forward to these videos. Makes Monday that much better!
So simple, so practical and so perfect! I'm definitely staying HUGE! Well done! Cheers!
Beer gut is a important safety device, helps you fill out your waders so the don't fill up as easily. I've been working on mine for ages....
Dude, that is a great point!!!
I'm with this rationale. Safety, not fat
Dude I'm soooooo safe
YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! FINALLY someone makes the single greatest instruction of mending! Fantastic, excellent and perfect use of the drone to demonstrate and illustrate! I am finally clear and not guessing as to what this is. I wasn’t far off but kudos to you for teaching me what it is!
best video on mending that i have seen. Subscribed!!!
Can’t. Stop. Watching. Your vid’s are awesome!
You seem like a great time, Love your ethos. Wish more fishing buddies had that attitude.
The only thing positive about a Monday is a new HUGE post! Gotta get the weekly dose of fly fishing content! 🤙🏼🎣
Hope all is well man!
Thank you! Great explanation.
Happy Monday , Stay Huge !!!
Ben, the opening to this video shows that you have learned what I came to realize years ago. It's ridiculous that people get excited about a "6 pack" when some of us are gifted with an entire keg. Confession, I am worse at mending than you are at push poling.
Just remember, you'll never suck as much as that guy Corey.
I’m still trying to figure out what kind of truck stuff he does with his truck.
That’s right, the beer will help you stay Huge. Seriously, good discussion, I love your videos, either by yourself or with the boys...
Was wondering if you'd post a video today! Hope all is well out there with the fires. Stay safe!
The single most important video in the history of fly fishing.
Great video !! I have subscribed to your channel 👍
As always, succinct and accurate with a dash of h’mour
Lol 😂 it’s all about the mend 🤘 great vid
Impressive mend!!!
Great explanation, but I noted the moobs first🤣
Thanks Ben! Quick question, is mending even necessary when someone is practicing the art of Tenkara. 😜
From now on I’m putting a beer belly in the line 🍻
Great Craig, I hope it's huge ! 😜
Best way to wake up on a Monday
I get this at lunch at the office. It's perfect timing because that is about how long it takes me to get in the mood for the next weekends fishing.
Thank you for calling it a bobber, your a resl man
Huge flyfisherman and a huge beer belly life is good.
Could you please do an advanced mending video too?
Morning Ben, I'll have some of the young bucks watch this cause I'm sick of explaining it and you explain it better than I do. Stay safe out there.
You got video bombed.
Can we get a winter fishing tips or a streamer tips video?
Huge
Thanks from a 10 year beginner!
Mend set , mend set , mend set , mend set ,mend set . And after three days of drinking with Dwane the light went on and there were fish for all . Amen 🙏 stay HUGE. -4 with heavy ice flow this morning on the Madison May have to switch to drys later :-)”
Headed out to practice mending today, on the Cowlitz River. Hopefully some fish involved too. Never fished it. My buddy will be my guide. Hoping we are Huge!
Was that a fan/stalker lurking in the background?
If I've had a few IPA's while mending is that called buzz mending? Is that bad mending?
My attempts at mending seem to pull my dry fly underwater. What might I be doing wrong?
Wanna go out fishing.. but there’s a foot of snow and almost everything is frozen... god damn Canada
Damn. Why so early Ben?
Just for you, Eeland.
I do all that cool stuff, thanks. Could you go in that grass behind you and see if there is a bear in there. I am from Florida, and I'm scared to go near that stuff. I look up the river and see a great corner way up there.---But, ain't no way in hell I'm going through that grass to get there.

What he doesn't know is that I only target the trout that take dragging flies. Real men enjoy challenges.
What does he mean by drag and what does he mean by drift? I feel like the fly is always being dragged, whether by the current or by the line. Like we say people get dragged away by the current we don't say they get drifted away. Does drift mean being dragged by the current and not the fly line? I was never very good at context clues...
Drift is floating the same speed as the current. Drag is when your fly is going a different speed from the current. Trout like it when flies are drifting naturally.
@@HugeFlyFishermanGot it! Thanks for the clarification!
slack is evil
release the fly
I’ve been trying to coin the phrase for “aerial mend(ing)” for awhile now..I bet it would catch on if you said it lol of course I’m sure it’s already been said which makes this comment pointless

If pandering to corporate America has taught me anything, it's that bubble people in your slideshow ALWAYS work.
Ben....we are best friend's. You are now my guide to guide my clients to be guided. Ya a lot of guided. "The Huge Flyfisherman" (you) has definitely help my new anglers adapt to sucking at fly fishing. I share your videos and they eat it up. "Don't Suck" thats mine but they do less with your videos. Thanks 😊
Invite as always to come fish and do a video on the fork or lower colorado. Streamer, egg, late fall, late dry, or just a mix...I got a boat and you got a Camera.
And I'm a huge flyfisherman and better then you... and most modest and most handsome. Dude dm me.
Make a video about landing fish without a net. Because we all arnt western state soft ass fly purest that use nets
Nets are important for proper fish handling during catch & release fishing. Gives you somewhere to let the fish rest while you replace your midge nymph with some double articulated meat or a dry fly for your glory shot that's gonna get 8 likes on Instagram
Patrick with the surprise ending!
👊😂
5 degrees outside.Tailwater time=boo
That means steelhead time for us west coasters.
None of that fake, midwest lake run rainbow trout nonsense.

This video is proof positive that TATTOOS are a BAD IDEA.
Fly fishing is the most fun way to not catch fish.
