watched about 6 mending videos this morning. yours was the most informative. thanks
That’s super cool to hear man, stoked it helped you out 💪
Great job Alex, I really like the way you simplify things.
Alex, most videos just don't show such simple things like yours do. I'm always cheered by the enthusiasm you show, this video got me out of bed this morning. I got up made a nice cup of tea, then came back with the dog and watched another Ha!HA!. Sadly we are in lockdown, still your helping is pass the time, cheers. Rich.
Basics done well are key!
I could have used this Friday filler ages ago. Had to learn about line management the hard way, on the water with endless reputation that eventually resulted in more fish on my better managed line.
Great explanations.
Love it.
Been having lazy days watching fly fishing for trout videos to get brushed up on the basics that I've not used in a year; well excluding getting skunked on the South Platte just outside Deckers last week haha),
Not only trying the basics back to the front of my mind but the more advanced techniques as well.
That being said, always ready to learn and hopefully retain that next skill, trick, discovering a new honey hole etc while on an angler's never ending journey of learning new things.
Taking this time to do the aforementioned as this will be only my 3rd year of REALLY getting after it and learning the tricks of the trade.
Took a week long Fly fishing school in Avon, Colorado that made me an Orvis Endorsed Guide (Wading only) and learned the last few things that allowed me to be more confident and successful last year.
Now have the goal of having myself an even more successful, effective and in turn fun summer releasing more trout and or landing some big boys cuz last season was the season of beautiful browns and small streams they called home.
What I'm trying to say while day dreaming via text, is thank you for the great content, helping me along the early years of this lifelong learning lesson that is Fly Fishing for trout out here in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. 🤙
Definitely earned a like, sub to the channel, this comment and my guaranteed return for the next video.
Next few vids already waiting within my "watch later" list.
That's all the nostalgia, excitement, appreciation and more I can express in a RUclips comment until next time. 🎣 Here's to tight lines and good times, cheers 🍻 brother.
Thanks for the msg bro and for the support and sub!
Stoked you have been enjoying the content 👊
What a life saver this video is bud. I've watched various clips on mending/line management but they're nowhere near the simple but effective explanation of how you have portrayed it for us. I've struggled with drag on rivers but mainly trying to work out whether to mend upstream or down stream. So you saying soon as there's a belly in your fly line going below your rod tip mend up, same if your getting a belly upstream with your indicator below your rod tip, mend down stream right? That was where I struggled, up or down. There's issues too when some times the current your flies are in is faster than the current closest to you where your fly line is on the water?? Maybe do a video on different current speeds to counteract that. Great stuff
very informative video for people out there that are unsure of how the method of a good drag free drift is done, nice work.
Very well explained, thanks!
HEY ALEX MATE WELL DONE AS ALWAYS .. BOB..
Alex, a very reminiscent video for me as I recognized the pool! It was the first piece of water I fished during my initial visit to NZ 10 years ago (still give it a flick there every time I come over). Learnt a very valuable lesson at this pool in regards to line mending and control. When I finally got it all together bingo first NZ trout came to hand - you’ve hit the nail right on the head with this one. I reckon it’s well up there in trout fly fishing importance cause if you have no control over what your fly is doing you might as well be sitting at home reading a book. As always excellent video and content.
Well put mate😆
You’re right there and that’s cool that it took you down memory lane!
Good information.
Mint roll on Tuesday 👌👍
Nice presentation, always worth a watch. Thanks.
Brilliant explanation!
Thanks man, glad it came across well
Great simplicity, perfect.
You made that sound simple Alex, excellently done mate!!!.
You still haven't done a Friday sandwich filler 🤣🤣🤣.
Keep em coming mate.
Stay safe.
ATB Chris.

Really helpful Alex! Cheers bro
Awesome. Great info, easy to understand cheers
Great video Alex
Great explanation Alex ...
I like your videos before I watch them...landed a 5 pound trout today then broke my rod on a 2 pounder...Excited here comes a new rod..
Whatcha gonna get?
I am liking the Orvis Clearwater...Had my old rod out today and had a massive day...Old rod felt great...landed heaps...spooked heaps...But like Orvis...there gear is pretty cool...
Excellent content Alex keep it up bro. I went out swinging the first two days of level three. I didn't hook anything initially but spotted a couple of fish in a foam line taking cicadas. I didn't have my floater but tied on a cicada and did A big downstream mend . Was amazed I hooked one. Then the following day I tried the lefty loop on a streamer in heavily discoloured water ....7 pound jack !
Nice bro. That’s a huge fish! Well done man
Always good info!!!! Thanks Alex!!!
Nice one Louie👊

Great little tutorial mate - wish a fish had taken it during a shit drift though :-)
Yeah that would have been typical right..?
Still Thursday in the states lol
Do airmends instead, then you can make a mend even at the tip if the flyline :)
