      All I use are nymphs I caught more fish using them instead of live bait . I guess in some areas the fish need to see something different in order to bite

    I never thought about tying higher up on the leader and using the excess for the second dropper. Completely changed my mind and saved me a lot of time!!! Great video! I am going to save this for when my son is older to help him learn too! Thank you guys I will be trying this tomorrow!!’

    Some absolutely phenomenal tips here for beginners. Really appreciate the time you took to explain each step and then again recap the whole set-up after the rig was complete. It's easy to get lost on some steps so the full rig recap IMO was what made this video stand out from the rest. Thanks and great job!

  • @brendan3008
    @brendan3008 5 лет назад +5

    Great video and good idea however remember that the breaking strain on the lower nymph will be around 50% of the line class where as the top nymph will be about 75%. Using a double surgeons knot gives around 80% strength on both tag ends. Irrelevant with small fish I know but if you bump into a trophy on light line it's the knots that fail first.

      Hello I am a beginner, but how far up should you tie the first nymph. Should it be tied to the thinner material of the tapered liter and the indicator on the thicker part of tapered liter? If the indicator is one and a half times the depth you are fishing, won't that cause hang ups?

    I've been fly fishing for 40 years and this video actually reminded me of something i forgot. The indicator should be one and a half the depth you are fishing. I thought it was more than that. Anyway I go by feel when setting my strike indicator but i start two lengths out and come in. I will try to start shallower. I've always fished dry and streamers, now I'm starting to nymph again after i haven't nymphed in years. I figure streamers and numphs will catch me some big trout. Thanks.

    great video. learned a few things. my question: what happens when the depth of the water changes and you have the thingamabob attached, then how do you quickly adjust the length from the float to the nymphs? say you go from fishing 6' to 6", which happens all the time. problem: thingamabob will crimp your line and can break lighter test line. now you have to re-tie?

    Great video. I've fly fished for a long time, and one concept I've struggled a bit with setting the indicator 1.5 times the depth of the water being fished. It seems like to get a dead drift with the flies right under the indicator, wouldn't you want to set the indicator the same depth as the water, or maybe just a little shallower?

    From the UK and that's the best, clearly explained, short video I've seen. I now feel confident to go out and give nymphing a try. Our club frowns upon indicator use because it doesn't meet with their old school, traditional methods but I'm assuming this method can still be used but keep a tight line as much as possible?
