    Low power mode is a common feature among "smart" power banks. It actually has nothing to do with how much power you want the power bank to output. In fact If you put your phone on the power bank when in low power mode, you'll probably get the same amount of power out of it.
    "smart" power banks try to turn themselves off when they think the connected device is done charging. The issue with this is when you are charging something like a pair of earbuds, the power draw might get low enough that the power bank mistakenly thinks that charging is complete and turns off. Low Power Mode tells the powerbank that the device being charged may have a low power draw, so then it will keep the power output enabled for longer.

    Great video! I just ordered one of these on their Easter sale to use with my Pixel 8 Pro and wanted to see some thoughts on it whilst I wait to help prime me for my own review down the line.
    Something I can hopefully clear up is the low current mode: Traditionally this is nothing to do with wireless charging and is (most likely) referring to charging other devices via the USB C port. These modes are included because devices like earbuds and smartwatches draw so little power whilst charging it's common for powerbanks to actually turn off shortly after they start as they don't register the device is actually charging. On Anker powerbanks this is a doublepress leading to a green power indicator and is used for this purpose. I have to use this mode to top off my Miband 7 and LG Tone buds, as otherwise they'll start to charge but the bank will shut off long before the devices are at 100%.
    Keep up the good work, I'm sure you'll go far! Oh and as an EDC RUclipsr, please get an unboxing knife, those snips hurt my soul lol

    Something I discovered after I finished is that they're really sticky about returns. Basically unless it's broken they won't take it back. There's no "I just don't like the product" returns here.

    I voted this down because you spent an entire video talking about noise and your confusion over low power mode instead of testing temperatures, for which people would be buying this thing in the first place

      @@benjaminbutcherdo you have a way to measure the phone’s temperature while it’s charging? Maybe an infrared gun? Can you test different wireless chargers with fans? Don’t worry about the power bank itself, sadly the phones suffer during wireless charging not the power bank, hence why it seems to be a total useless gimmick for Sharge to include a tiny fan to cool off the power bank itself

    • @benjaminbutcher

    I feel like fan wouldn’t do that much of a difference in terms of cooling the phone.Is there any noticeable improvment while e.g. gaming?

    • @benjaminbutcher
      @benjaminbutcher  7 месяцев назад

      I've done a little bit of gaming on my phone with this. Given, however, that at times it can't even keep it cool while it's charging, I really wouldn't recommend this as some kind of solution for a hot phone during gaming.

    • @Spinach_Dip93

      I believe the fan is to keep the battery somewhat cool or at least some hotspots in the battery I don’t think it’s supposed to cool your phone at all

    • @mhmwtf765
      @mhmwtf765 6 месяцев назад

      @@Spinach_Dip93i think they advertise it in a way where it says that it should cool down the phone as well but really just having the battery itself cool it will help off with keeping a lower temp on the phone like if you have noticed while charging ill give you an example with my 13 pro: charging from 20 till 80-90 and it gets hot and progressively more hotter to 60-70 percent where it starts to cool down a little and theoretically if the battery itself is cool it could speed up this process

      No actual testing numbers but the fan DEFINITELY doesn’t fix or even really reduce the overheating problem. My (older) phone still overheats when charging.

  • @COddietsch

    I was really hoping you touched more on the charging efficiency but oh,well. Because, the device for the most part is descent but the charging is less than subpar and the magnetic part is horrible. Most everyone has a case for their iPhones and most cases have Qi, so I have over 12 emails back and forth with Sharge trying to get a refund on mine because I bought it merely (so I could magnetically attach it to my phone and charge it while I use it) at 7.5watts it barely helps and sometimes just keeps up even so what’s the point. Plus, and this is tested. Without a Cover - A 28 minute charge increased the battery 15% without any usage. With the cover a 30 minute and 45 seconds charge increased the battery 15% without any usage. That is horrible. Tried contacting customer service and getting a replacement but I guess because there are no specs on this, they refuse to even entertain a replacement.

      7.5W on MagSafe is the standard for these battery packs. With a type c, it’s 20 watts

      @@AWildKappa The analysis I provided was based on the mAH of each device. It's a rough estimate. Given the losses due to heat/wireless transmission you can likely expect a minimum of 10% loss. Corded will likely always be better that way.

    There's a wireless charger that both charge and discharge wirelessly, albeit it's more like a gimmick/toy. It's Aohi Eternal City Wireless Charger.
    More of a show piece that best uses inside the house. The powerbank only has 2,750mah. But I doubt we would get as fast wireless charging as the chinese phones.

      6:10 - It does still overheat at times. The product is good but if you've got it in your pocket there's a good chance it'll still overheat regardless of the phone you've got. HOWEVER: a new phone just sitting on your desk should be okay.
