Dude my ass was not able to handle the og crappy sonic.exe game when it came out, I got absolutely traumatized (I was like 8 btw). If I saw this instead when I was that age, I would've been scarred for life most likely, even now the fakeout into 2011 and the stare transition into the "You're boring me" screen caught me a bit off guard.
i love how far they went with the fakeout in the beginning, everything from the fake menu, the absolutely amazing sonic va, to even how vague the gamejolt page was, not leaving any hints or details to the true song hiding inside

They wrote the title that way to emphasize the T. Roden-Trap. Clever devs, clever... Sonic Legacy is basically a sort of "refresh" of Vs. Sonic.exe, with a good chunk of the original devs back on board. News on this mod has been VERY hush-hush to avoid leaks, many people didn't even know it existed prior to this wonderful bait-and-switch shadow drop. Since Lord X's owner is the one responsible for this one, you can probably expect to see the older rodent in a future update, but besides that, I'm more or less clueless as to who we'll be getting.

However: -The mod was updated to version 3.0, which revamped the sprites and nearly all the songs from version 2.5, which you played previously. -There were a number of bonus songs in freeplay that you did not play. 3.0 has 32 songs total, actually.
I loved the nostalgic feel of the Green Hills theme with the FNF spin. Im pretty certain those pictures on the wall were RUclipsrs as I'm convinced that was Markiplier at the top, and it looked like Dawko in the middle. Didn't recognise the others, though

Sonic Legacy seems to be the best EXE mod along side Rerun and Soules DX currently in development. Cool Mods are Hotline 024, came out in 2022 but for a demo was stupid long and fun. Vs Impostor V4 was the best start to 2023 you could ask for. Doki Doki Takeover + made a perfect update for the old mod despite having to replay through what we already had experienced. Graffiti Groovin is a great OC mod that got an update same time as Mario's Madness but needed a patch is still good though. BTW yeah JoeDoughBoi (creator of Lord X) remade Sonic.Exe into Sonic 2011X which is going to be his new presentation for this mod.

honestly im really glad its sonic.exe. not xenophanes, not lord x, hog, faker, or any other exe's, despite all of them being pretty great in their own ways, its the classic sonic.exe. the one who started it all. the creator did some scummy stuff, and its one of the biggest joke creepypastas, but sonic.exe really paved the way for a ton of exe's, and not just sonic exe's. sonic.exe walked so lord x can run...so to speak. the creator of sonic.exe is bad, but like...sonic.exe is more then just a creation, its an era of creepypasta. so to abandon him just doesn't feel right. also knowing a ton of the old developers of the original sonic.exe fnf mod are working on legacy is just such a nice touch.
If you check the files before meeting the EXE, you won't be able to find sprites or something weird. They went that far so you think it's a normal mod Also if you use botplay you for the second song the end will be different. If you ignore the shop dude he will say stuff

I think what makes this mod so good is that they don’t actually tell you much about about the mod so you don’t actually expect the fake out
