- This is the best cleaner I have come across for cleaning my engine and engine bay. Purchased for $1 at the Dollar Tree. Sprayed it and rinsed it. No scrubbing and my engine was cleaner than When I used GUNK: Engine Degreaser or Black Magic: Engine Degreaser + Shine.
I am very happy with this product. I personally wouldn't bother buying anything else.
This cleaner is safe for aluminum and rubber. DO NOT USE CONCENTRATED ON GLASS! If you get it on your windows, rinse it off quickly, it can leave stains on glass.
This cleaner is non-toxic AND bio-degradable according to their website.
I bought that because I needed a squirt bottle and the empty bottles were more expensive so I was just going to dump the cleaner but decided to give it a shot. This stuff really is awesome! I use it on carpet stains and spots on seats in our vehicles!
This stuff is perfect for maintaining your new cars engine. Just spray a hole bottle on the motor and if you like you can dilute it by 50% and it still works great. I use it on my engine when its cold. Recomended at full strength for older grease engines.
My 96 Camry was very dirty and greasy I bought two large bottles of this for about 4.50 each about gallon and it cleaned it very well totally recommended using it. You can’t beat the price. I used a pray bottle to rinse the cleaner off. Worked great.
I have a engine detail to do this Friday and was contemplating on using this product.....seeing how you use it has confirmed my choice to do so. Thanks!!
Happy it helped you! Be careful on painted surfaces.
+Dope Detailing - GO FOR IT !!! CHEAP + IT WORKS !!! That stuff is STRONG !!! I had to use a mask during my cleaning. NOTE: You can use it on Clothes that have Grease / Engine Oil Stains.. It comes out CLEAN !!! :D
This stuff is the only stuff I use. For $1.00, it's pretty damn hard to beat.
Awesome is the best stuff on the planet. I use this for everything for a $ a bottle a buy and use alot love it thanks to the makers to keep it affordable 👍👌
Totally awesome, use it for everything in my house
Love that LA totally awesome cleaner, but I am glad I am not the only one who starts coughing with this stuff. I've used that stuff to take off some pretty heavy grease/oil before.
Yeah, the way it hits your nose and lungs does not feel biodegradable, lol. It reminds me of ammonia!
Funny. I never even noticed.
The only thing heat from the engine will do is dry the cleaner onto the engine faster. Best way to clean the engine is when it's cool to the touch. I've seen people stain their engine blocks spraying chemicals on a hot engine. Just my 2 cents.
DJR5280 Yeah, it's controversial. I personally don't like cleaning it while it is hot. It's less effective if your cleaner is drying from the heat. And if the engine is hot (possibly warm, but definitely when it is hot) cold water on the warm/hot engine can cause aluminum head(s), block, manifolds, etc to crack from the sudden temperature change. People have the opinion it needs to be hot, I disagree but I was testing it. But I think it did an amazing job! In my GUNK video I stated the engine should be completely cool, and I got a bunch of trash talk from that...
Dylan McClelland Clean it when it is cool or ambient temperature. The cleaner should be strong enough to dissolve the dirt.
DJR5280 I think that's a matter of opinion. watch my GUNK video.... I scrubbed it and it still didn't clean that well. I think this cleaning turned out perfect.
BEERS 'n GEARS It's not a matter of opinion. You don't clean your engine when it's hot. One reason is exactly what DJR5280 said regarding chemicals on a hot engine.
The other is that when your engine is hot, spraying cold water on it can cause the metal to contract quickly, and damage parts of the engine.
its actually better to clean the engine bay while the vehicle is running. The water seeps onto the belts while its rotating so it clears off all the dirt. As long as you dont spray in the intake its fine. I am a detailer at Audi and jaguar/landrover, this is how we do it for past 20 years. There are many ways but running engine is completely fine. Our vehicles are spotless once its out of the detail bays.
This is the best all around stain remover, cleaner, degreaser on the market. I use it for my carpets and laundry just everything THE BEST ON THE MARKET!!!!
Spray everything after cleaning with Areospace 303 and you'll be amazed, plus it protects all rubber components.
That stuff is good but I never put and protective chemicals after degreassing just IMO :-)
" Totally Awesome " for sure !!! Most People don't realized that the Engine are meant to go through Moisture and Water. The only components in " Older Cars / Trucks " are Fuse Box, Computer and few minor things. Other than that, the only thing that needed Water Protection is the " Alternator ", which I usually wrapped a plastic shopping bag around, that is about it. Although Alternator is pretty much Water Proof, just the " Stator " is not and it will rust from Water. I have done plenty of time with a Pressure Washer and Soap and after that, my Dad will take it on the Highway and drive for 15 Minutes to dry it off.
ran this stuff thru radiator and engine twice with half bottle, thermostat removed- it works
Used this on my 5.3 vortex engine left the Pistons to soak for 4 hours or so. And with light brushing it's like brand new
You cleaned the carbon off the pistons with it? Were you rebuilding an engine?
I enjoyed this video and you did a really good job with it! LA's totally awesome is ammonia and acid free. But with that said it is definitely not pH neutral and scores the 12 to a 13 which is very caustic. I would be careful using it neat. There's nothing wrong with breaking it down four to one. I've used many degreasers and I have not found a better degreaser than Super Clean and it's $8 a gallon but you got to be very careful there
I love and swear by awesome!!! It’s truly the best thing you can buy for a dollar!!!!!!! Real talk!!!
Man,..that's a clean engine. I haven't cleaned my engine since I bought it used in 2003.
This product works better than any chemical cleaner and its only 1$,
My cousin didn't know of this product and a guy in California scammed him out of 60 dollars for 3 bottles 😂🤣
Lmmfao damn
Is that a true story?
I beleive it 😂😂💀💀
Something that cost $1.00 at the dollar 💵 store!!😂What a mark up
That's messed up
I use this to clean my tires and wheels. The wheels aren’t polished so it works fine. I also use Dollar Tree furniture polish on my tires. Really shines them up for super cheap. It would also shine the black plastic on your engine. Looks great but be careful on your paint.
Looks like a good product. However, if you live anywhere in the country that has harsh winters and salt or calcium ice melt is used, you are doing two adverse things using this cleaner. 1) That Degreaser will get into all the nooks and crannies of the body panels and if you don't wash it out really good, it will cause rusting and leave a perfect setting for the ice melt to get in and cause even more rapid rusting. 2) I hope that your not doing that over an asphalt driveway. That stuff will begin softening and stripping off the asphalt. At minimum, it with the crude from the car will severely discolor the asphalt.
Facts! Very good information, and about the rusting. I live in cali so it doesn't get cold enough for me to worry. But I'm glad you mentioned it for the large amount of people that do.
amazing STUFF .. over-sprayed
the front of my pants and I GREW 1" longer !
now, I'm 2" long ..
I don't recall if I've ever used LA's Awesome in my engine compartment, but I've used it in the sink on smaller car parts. It's pretty good stuff, especially coming from Dollar Tree. One thing, I typically just screw the sprayer onto the Awesome quart container... it's just a generic bottle and has the same threads as most sprayers.
Great vid! Gonna buy some of that stuff tomorrow but I might try it with a cool to the touch engine. Looks great! 👍
Awesome! I actually have a bottle of this I bought last year!!
Been looking at video's to clean my engine bay...
That strut area was painted. The paint was removed from it
Yeah, I peeped that too..
NO it was not at 2:06 if you pause the vid. you can see the strut tower has a line around it just like after he gets done cleaning it.
@@NoWr2Run It removes paint. I've had it happen. Be careful...
This stuff works. I used it on my rims to get off years of break dust and it took it all off with no problem.
Spray foam tire cleaner is great for cleaning up engine bay to. I use awesome inside on all my cars interior. I use spray foam under hood tho
great video. question.....how long does the smell last after using Gunk or awesome?
Gunk leaves a smell for about a month, crazy. I haven't used Gunk since I made the Superclean video. Super Clean works waayyyy better, and I don't remember it leaving an odor. But Superclean does smell strong when using it, similar to ammonia.
A mechanic was skeptical when I told him that I used Awesome on my car to clean the engine. (I've been using it since 1999, just decided to used it since it was cleaning household grease and grime quite well). The mechanic tried it and then he would not stop talking about it. Just don't leave it too long, it will make your paint dull or even strip it. I put it in the soapy water to wash my car and the clear coat got some damage.
rip phone, that was hilarious 😂😂😂
I've been using awesome for years. The best your money can buy. I spot treat my clothes with it also. This is the best cleaning product for a dollars hands down.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CLEANING THE ENGINE? IS IT SO THAT IT MAKES IT NICER FOR MECHANICS TO WORK ON?
cause it looks good?
You mentioned hard water, I'd recommend using Citric Acid
After a few minutes you can wipe it off, if it is caked on I recommend scrubbing the spots with it
Nice product for sure. Tks for sharing
Thanks for the positive comment!
I just used this on a car. Took off a lot stuff and the engine was cool and I covered the alternater with plastic wrap then blew off the motor with a leaf blower
Same company makes an "LA's Awesome Auto Degreaser" in a black spray bottle for just as cheap and works better and safe on paint.
Dan Cantone They make many household products. I use them all. Their one dollar Window Cleaner is the best for cleaning stainless steel refrigerators. I've purchased many brands and none come close!
this stuff does work!! i have seen it take old paint off if there is no clear coat in the engine bay.... not all of it but it starts to bleed a little
Its not green, but you can neutralize it with vinegar if you get the run-off near plants, its a strong alkali that is the same formula of the original 409.
I use this stuff on a my dirty and greasy laundry. Pretty much magic in a bottle it works on everything.
This product is the best been using for years on my car's no problem
I love this cleaner. I can just spray it all over my bathtub and let it sit, then I just wipe it off with my sponge. It’s the fastest and easiest way to clean the soap scum that can be hard to clean.
I use dish soap dawn original mix with water on a spray bottle and takes the road dust and works great
This stuff will actually clean your carpets in your car. Just spray it on wait a few minutes scrub it with dawn dish washing detergent and water then suck it up with a shop vac . It will clean everythign from a cars carpet
It's not good to use an apc on carpet because once it dries you think its ll gone and clean but once you get in with wet shoes it reactivates the apc and scrubs the dirt back into the carpet.
YEs you need to rinse it with water good so it doesnt do that
Tire foam works good on the engine
Man I used this stuff so much I could smell it threw the phone as you were spraying it
When buy this it's by the cases. Generally I'll take all the large bottles they have. Best product on the market hands down.
used to be called Totally Awesome in the late 90's I believe then it changes to LA's Awesome. Great stuff for the price
It’s still called “totally awesome” no one reads the label because the word “totally” is smaller lol. LA is the brand.
Believe MSDS suggests ethyl alcohol and sodium hydroxide (lye), which is used in deck paint and stain removers.
Youre engine looks great my friend!
From my experience you never put cold liquid on a hot engine. You can crack your engine block Aluminum will warp faster
What happens when you're engine is hot & you drive over a icy puddle of water in the wintertime? Does your engine crack?
john hutton that’s what the splash guard is for right?
The bottle has dilution ratios for different types of cleaning.
Yes, engine and parts is full strength
@@BEERSnGEARS .
@@daveroy1136 .
Thanks for your very helpful video. I plan on doing an engine clean this week, as the temps are going to be in the 70s this week in Florida 👍
@@daveroy1136 sweet! Must take advantage of that weather!
Simple Green is cheap and NON TOXIC and smells fresh!
Yes true but it wasn’t meant for engine cleaner
Only thing i would not do is to clean my engine while hot. This cleaner does cut grease. Better than a lot of way more expensive cleaners
Great video!, I'll try and find some of this!.
Why didn't you just put the sprayer in the original bottle?
Thomas Smith The spray bottle had a larger opening. The sprayer would not have fit on the LAs awesome bottle.
That sprayer does spray Nice. But I got a pressurized spray bottle. Requires way less pumps. And sprays out farther and can be adjusted.
Can we pressure wash any engine like this ?.
After you degrees and dry spray trim spray all over .. It will make all you plastic and rubber hoses shine like new
why you just put nozzle on the awesome bottle lol. good video thanks.
Raven Shaw 409 it doesn't fit the bottle. The cleaner bottle in much smaller.
beware of car dealers thats how they do used cars so u can think the car is n good condition for the sale
I have been cleaning houses for 40 years this is best stuff I ever found for cleaning cleans everything
I use it, and on a lightly soiled engine it works well enough. I'd use a less aggressive hose setting. On heavier soil I would wait longer than you did and apply more andlet it sit. The transmission and the sides of the engine block benefit the most from letting the cleaner take its time working.
The benefit of doing a warm engine rather than a "cold" one at 70F is questionable if using a "green: cleaner.. It used to help the engine start if water got into inconvenient places but thats not a problem with cars since the 1980s. Today it speeds drying time about the same as driving for 5 minutes.
I dont feel comfortable washing this stuff off, especially not with a high pressure washer...feels like a good way to kill my electronics. Can I use this on metals such as the engine or a supercharger? Or would I have to cover them.
I have this product too. it does work well!
cleaning the engine while it's hot is not controversial at all. Don't do it period, why? because many degreesers don't play well with Aluminum and will oxidize the aluminum exremely fast if the engine is hot. Especially degeesers like super clean and purple power
Don't have to use a leaf blower I got one just didn't know if I have to use it or can it just dryer on it's own
Thank you for your review, I appreciate it.
Gustavo Melendez I appreciate your positive comment! :)
their product for cleaning the upholstery is also good as degreaser
After you degrease and clean an engine get you some foaming tire shine amd spray on a hot engine and close the hood come back in 30 minutes and you will be amazed
Yes true looks amazing but the only shit about that is...that foaming tire shine attracts dirt like a mf like flys on shit!!!
You did it like a pro!
Conservative America Thanks for the positive comment! The only thing I would do different, is clean it when it's cold, not warm.
I use this on my gas grill, great cleaner
thanks I should known that this be the best to use, maybe mix some Lestoil with it
Wire brush to clean the valve cover to make it shine a bit
Great tip! Just to be safe i'll add, make sure it's not painted! :)
That "computer" looks like it was in a plastic box and the lid is missing, which is why the parts are visible. I would look for the missing cover.
FiscalRangersFlorida it's a closed computer. it's sealed up for weather and heat. there is no cover for it. that's how they are designed for the Saturn ios.
Good to know. I'll use that on my own ION
It works well on grimy children as well. Just place the child in the bathtub, spray them down, and rinse. do not forget to use a good polish afterwards.
You could of used same produc on the lights gunk runs right off
Best stuff to take oil stain it's really work
That's totally awesome.
SuperClean works even better in my opinion. But, Totally Awesome does good for the price.
thanks im going to try it on my truck
Can I buy it in a 50 gallon drum
I actually just finished my clutch job not too long ago, thanks to you. Videos were terrific! Transmission got pretty nasty from wrestling with it so I was thinking about giving it a good cleaning. Good thing I saw this video haha. Great minds think alike.
Joseph Koch I have a cleaning video for the transmission. but I'd recommend this cleaner over gunk or black magic
Dylan McClelland How's your clutch holding up? I noticed the same thing when you installed yours, the friction disc seems thin and close to the rivets.
Joseph Koch still works over a year later
I won't get into the whole water on engine debate, that's up to you, but if you are going to wash the engine down with water a Worx Hydroshot works really well for that purpose.
To get the oil spots off of your driveway get some clay based kitty liter and grind it into the driveway with the heel of your shoe then let it sit. I see small bags at the Dollar Store from time to time. Works wonders.
I sure would like to know why leaving the cleaner on glass would be a bad thing. Glass is corrosion resistant to almost anything.
are ingredients same as "simple green"?
This stuff is a great degreaser, and I've used it to take the black streaks off my old camper. But it did fade the painted pinstripes on it but I needed an excuse to change the painted stripe anyway. I also found on RUclips a vid on using ZEP floor wax for resealing old faded camper paint. It also worked like a charm. I'm wondering if I could seal the faded engine plastic parts with ZEP after cleaning engine bay with LA AWESOME.
a good video but I was told to never hose down the motor as many electrical parts can short out and at least remove the Battery??
Wtf the battery really...it’s like saying...take of ur tire first before applying air!
F.Y.I - commercial floor stripper is the same chemical, buy a gallon and dilute it yourself. Also Wesley's Bleach White is the same chemical as well so you can clean your wheels also.
John Crosetto That sounds very harsh.... Is this stuff safe to use in an engine bay straight? I feel like painted plastics will be missing paint.
Not the same.....
way to go , thanks
Just put water on you ECU. It looks like that a very good idea.
Max Power thanks for the feedback!
the hoses will be little like that but this stuff works great i have been using it for year
Adam Eckenrode the holes will be little?
the hose will look like that after cleaning it off
Adam Eckenrode can you give me a time stamp so I can understand what you're talking about?
im dyslexia sorry about that had to look it up hoses lol
i was talking about the awesome i have used it alot to clean motor and grease parts
1:12 this is what I do. A much more comfortable sprayer
The only thing I have a concern with is the sensors! It's very noticable on the brake bowl.
Yeah I’ve used it to clean my house and it does smell like ammonia or chemically how to make you gag
so how that work Those computers can. be pricey I have the same car I would cover it up just too be safe .
amazing that people 10+ dollars on "special" cleaners isnt it. i have been using this shit for years.
Great for home ACs as well.
You shouldn't use the pressure that hard. You can break off sensitive wiring and bend the fins on the radiator. A light spray is fine. Simple Green HD is also a great degreaser.
Arthur Smith People use pressure washers from that distance.... That pressure is not going to bend fins on the radiator....
You should cover your belts or alt.
Not sure why it says no acid when it clearly has acid in it in the form of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid , it's even in the ingredients ! clearshineclean.com/pdfs/LAs-Awesome-Multi-purpose-MSDS.pdf Tetra Sodium EDTA (CAS# 64-02-8) = Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid .
It works fine just try and keep it away from rubber . Btw that burn you feel from the spray is because it has the same active ingredient as in over cleaner LOL.
Is it safe to spray water all over the place ??? What about the wires?!
+CityHunt3R911 - 99% of the Wires are Waterproof. My only worries is the Alternator. Although the Alternator is kinda Waterproof too... You don't want the Water to go " Inside " and " Rust " the Metal that rotate around. Other than that, I have sprayed the whole Car with a Pressure Washer and NO HARM... As long you protect the Alternator with a Plastic Bag that is about it.
You drive in the rain, right? What about heave rain? Well, same thing here. Your car is made to work well in all 4 seasons, and electronics are not as fragile as you think.
Is it toxic?
