So, I grew up in Lucas county. Right nextdoor to Williams county. The first story about the fortune teller guy who was hanged in Bryan was astonishing. I've been deer hunting in Bryan since I was 13 years old. Whenever we finish our hunt around 10:00, or 11:00 AM, we always go back into town and eat at the diner there (best corned beef hash & sunny side up eggs you'll ever have in your life). Anyway, that place is always full of the old farmers from around the village and they loved to tell us kids stories from the old days. The story of the fortune teller is one that I've heard many times. It's famous in Bryan and almost everyone in that community knows it. You did the story perfect justice in your telling and even provided some details I was not aware of! So impressed by your research and story telling abilities. Love your channel. Great video. I owned a historic business building in downtown Wilmington built in 1872. One late night (3 am) while in the apartment upstairs I heard noises in the shared hallway that sounded like a horse clip clopping by. I opened the door turned on the light and saw nothing. The next day, the business neighbor told me of an old article she found of a woman and her daughter getting run over and killed by a horse team on the street right in front of my shop. My body went crazy, hair stood up and goosebumps. I told her what I had heard the night before and at first she thought I was pulling her leg until she really looked at me and saw how freaked out I was. Over the next 3 years, many crazy noises came from that hallway in the early AM hours but I was never brave enough to ever open the door an look again. I sold the building a few years ago and the new owner has also contacted me about strange noises in the night reported by his tenant, one of which was the distinct and distant whinny of a horse.

When I was living in Marion, Ohio I noticed a huge lot a couple blocks long with nothing built on it right behind my house located right in the middle of town. I found out it was a mass grave with over 700 hundred people who died from a Cholera outbreak during the late 1800s I would see kids playing there with no idea that it was just a huge grave.
I would love if you could do a video of Hawthornden State hospital in Ohio. My maternal aunt was committed there when she was only 16 years old. She, still alive has a story from that place. My mother left us when I was just an infant, I did not know my birth family most of my life, I found them 4 years ago. Though rumors of her mother placing my aunt in that insane asylem was told to me by my paternal grandmother when I was 16 years old. I've had the honor of meeting and getting to know my aunt who was traumatized there, she escaped a year after being commited. Note; I am sure that she would not mind being interviewed for a story related to Hathornden State hospital.

Hilliard Ohio here! My old house 2893 Hilliard Rome rd was so haunted my friends would call there parents to get them because stuff would get thrown at us like pictures off the walls and get chased out of the house by Demons... very haunted. Ohio is full of mystery and flat out craziness happening 😳
No matter where you live there is dark history. Ohio has it's good places, wonderful parks and sites to see. I have lived my whole life in Ohio, and love this state!!! We all come and go in life to all over the United States, its ok to leave and come back,im sure that there are people in every state that loves or hates their state. Very kool video, enjoyed it alot 😀 👍🏻
I was born and raised in Houston, TX. Startedted to hate it because of heat, hurricanes, and flooding. Moved to Columbus, OH in 2013 and have come to love it. Less traffic and I get to experience all four seasons. I don't know why people hate it.
My late husband grew up in a haunted house in Columbus Ohio. Several strange things happened but I'm not talking about them because they are too disturbing. I will say both his parents died in the house, though years apart. I don't know exactly when and why the police searched the grounds and discovered that 7, possibly 9 people had been buried on the property. I know Russ spoke very seldom about the house after his mother's death there due to the fire that destroyed the house. Thankfully, no house has been built there since. The neighbors bought the property and added it to their yard. The place where so much tragedy and horror took place became a peaceful garden.
Southeast Ohio born and raised. Definitely biased but it's my favorite part of Ohio because we're in the foothills of appalachia and right on border of WV and PA. Appalachia culture and the mountains and nature is beautiful. Ohio was the first frontier!
I'm from Southwestern Ohio. Southwestern Ohio is all fields. One of my relatives was from Cleveland and they made maple syrup from maple trees. Cleveland is really cold in autumn and winter!

I definitely agree with the opening comment on the video lol. I live by Youngstown, Ohio but ive been to most of Ohio. Definitely alot of weird creepy crap goes on in this state (and most others) here that just makes no sense and so many indian burial grounds just wiped out to build parking lots, national business chains that go out of business a few years later and the building sits and crumbles so the dead were disturbed for nothing etc, i can imagine this whole state is cursed with nothing but bad juju.

From Northeast Ohio. My family members including both of my parents are buried at Erie Street Cemetery. Today happens to be 13 yrs since my mother passed. So naturally I was just there. There is a lot of history to the cemetery.

No more Mud House Mansion. I Live 5 minutes away where used to be. The owner tore it down because too many people were breaking in and he didn't want to get Sued if someone got hurt.
Just a story to share. Not specific related to the video. As a kids we loved to play on a little hill called the gallowshill. It was a just a nice place in the woods. That was 60 years ago. Two weeks ago I suddenly wondered if the name was related to real gallows. On internet I found the answer, Yes it was. People were hanged there, and stayed there hanging. As horrible example of what the city did with crooks. We probably played above some of their bones. Never felt something sinister or saw a ghost. The hanging in the first story did me think about it again. And Curious World, thanks for an excellent video again. Always exceptional good.
Thank you Curious World for another excellently researched, produced and narrated programme. These are like little jewels, not often seen but always very much appreciated.

I'm from the area. My county was actually on that map in the beginning. Small village, just a few hundred people, MAYBE. There was a terrible train crash here a long time ago, killed many people and wiped out a depot. Long long time ago. My sister and I were walking around the village late, maybe 2:30, 3 a.m. as we did very often. Walking on a street parallel to the railroad one night we saw what looked like the small flame of an old timey lantern moving down the track a couple dozen yards over... I think... Idk how to measure. lol But anyway it just kept the exact same pace as us. I said, "Hello?" and it just kept moving right at our speed, perfectly parallel with us. We kept walking and again I called out, "Hello?" and after a few moments the flame appeared to go out. It was very eerie. As we kept up the pace the thicket of trees in the background of where we were looking cleared out and the sky became more visible. Where we expected to finally see a person's silhouette against the now bright sky we saw just nothing. And stopped on the street and just gazed along the tracks and there was just NO ONE there. I haven't got a habit or history of seeing weird things very often and that wasn't like a spooky night to begin with. It just happened out of nowhere in the middle of a late Summer night. We were pretty creeped out. I still tell people about that. There have never been people on that track before, day or night. lol I like to imagine it was the ghost of one of those old timey railroad workers or train passengers from that wreck way back when, as that accident happened back when the village was still dirt roads and horse drawn carriages. The whole area we live in is a weird sort of spooky. Massive rural area, fog banks lingering among twisting country creeks, dilapidated old barns from like 100 years ago nearly collapsing alone in fields, creepy woods and corn fields and abandoned one room schoolhouses. This place just seems stuck in time, and I love it. lol There are times that it has a Silent Hill vibe. It's beautiful.
I was raised in Defiance County, Ohio, just south of Willliams County and north of Paulding County which puts it between the two counties! It’s strange how the map shows Williams County swallowed Defiance County! Isn’t that creepy? 😮
Probably because, if you heard in the video, all this stuff happened in the 1800s-1900s. So no shit you didn’t know it was “going on” because it all ALREADY HAPPENED in the past. people’s stupidity is astounding sometimes
I love history and found this extra fascinating because I am from Cleveland, OH. These were cases that I was not preveiously aware of but a few things that really stuck out out to me was how much science has evolved to be able to solve some of these cases that they couldn't back then, how pay rates have significantly changed, and the cost of a donation to construction of a building back then is not much to what it is now.
There are 6-8 books called Haunted Ohio. Hate to admit but Manson and Daumier were both born in Ohio, so we ain't Mayberry. Figure most people watching this video are from Ohio living in Ohio or lived in Ohio.
Ohio raised and corn fed here. Ohio has some great history some creepy history as well. Alot of strange stuff has happened here over the years.
Definitely interesting. A pretty grisly set of stories, and certainly things I've never heard about before (which is why we all love your presentations isn't it!
Ah RUclips failing to notify me about my favourite channel uploading 🤔 RUclips gonna get a slap one day . Thank you for the video CW 👍❤️
I'm reporting you for violent threats.
For all the Ohioans saying how bad it is, it could be worse, you could live in Michigan 😁
I'm a Michigan native who spent over half my life in Ohio ...Ohio is much worse
@@VGI4NI well it was a joke, I live in Toledo so I'm right on the border. Personally I think they are pretty even. I've lived in Luna Pier, Monroe, Detroit and Bay City for short periods of time and honestly I couldn't say any place was better than another.
From Columbus Ohio ,root for blue,
Joke in central Ohio there are two types of religion in central Ohio, Christianity and OSU football.
The burning of cars and vandalism in the 70s over a football game made me side with Michigan, my blood is red not scarlet and grey ( ie bumper sticker : I bleed scarlet and grey)
Anyway, living in Florida, hate it.
Hey to Tony Ps in Toledo. it's still on my bucket list
Go Bucks
Could be Florida....
It's funny that Ohio is like a horror land in all these memes, but most of my greatest and sweetest memories are from when I've visited there it's like a beautiful paradise to me
Hilliard Ohio here! My old house 2893 Hilliard Rome rd was so haunted my friends would call there parents to get them because stuff would get thrown at us like pictures off the walls and get chased out of the house by Demons... very haunted. Ohio is full of mystery and flat out craziness happening 😳
Lots of old Indian burial grounds? I’m Cleveland, pretty violent too. And scary. 😮
That must have been TERRIFYING!!
I've lived inside 270 almost 40 years, never experienced anything like that and have never known anyone that has.
Columbus here, i can tell you there’s several unsolved murders and thousands of missing people here 😳
Human trafficking is horrible in OH.. way too many missing every years for 3 or so decades.
Ohio has more people moving out and always coming back than any state in the nation
Just do a video on Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton. There's a metric ton of weird material right there. :)
Wow that’s something. I know quite a few haunted locations around Cleveland and Medina.
Easily one of the best storytellers on RUclips. Your commitment to covering fascinating AND obscure cases is so appreciated.
Thank you.
Beautiful country up around there. Ohio has a lot of natural beauty going for it, especially if you know where to look.
I’m a southeast Ohio appalachian too!!
Vinton County … aka West West Virginia
Living in the scioto county foothills spoiled me.
I live in Ohio close to the WV border and I saw with my own eyes some crazy freaky stuff that I been trying to unsee
I can confirm that our state is indeed creepy.
I grew up over there. Now with even more meth heads running around it's even more insane
Yeah WV def have some weird shit going on... Hills have Eyes x 20
I'm in Steubenville.
@@FatRescueSwimmer04 The Hills have Eyes was down over near the nuclear test areas in the desert, WV has the Wrong Turn series, which took a wrong turn to shit
Jackson County here.... Johnny Carson the old talk show host even said if you want to get away with murder, go to Jackson county ,Ohio😂
I live in Jackson county OH
I definitely agree with the opening comment on the video lol. I live by Youngstown, Ohio but ive been to most of Ohio. Definitely alot of weird creepy crap goes on in this state (and most others) here that just makes no sense and so many indian burial grounds just wiped out to build parking lots, national business chains that go out of business a few years later and the building sits and crumbles so the dead were disturbed for nothing etc, i can imagine this whole state is cursed with nothing but bad juju.
as an ohioan i was a little shocked to see youtube recommend this to me. but here i am, about to delve in

You have such a perfect channel it’s when I always come back to you whenever I see you in upload thank you for continuing to make videos!
We live about 45 mins from Knockemstif! It's south of Chillicothe, which was Ohio first capital! Knockemstif is in a beautiful part of the state. Just northeast of Bainbridge! Paint Creek St Park and reservoir!
Cbus born and raised. ive always said ohio is like a twilight zone. glad to see we all feel the same way
Born in Salem Ohio. Lived in Lisbon. Alliance. East Liverpool. Ran all over Columbia County. Moved to Florida in 1982. Still a big Buckeye fan.
I’m from Salem too!
Born and lived my whole life in Ohio , Yes our state WILD !
Love the opening shot of the now torn down Ashtabula train depot❤
I have been rewatching all your videos this week... then this one drops as a surprise! Thank you :)
Nice to know the history where you're from, Amazing. I'm from Cleveland..... Nice video.
If there are anymore untold dark stories about Ohio, can you please make another video? I found this video very interesting
I actually have a few more stories I didn't include here because I didn't want to go over the 40 minute mark. Will upload them in the coming weeks.
I agree I would love to hear more as I have lived in Ohio all my life in different parts of the state. I love this state and it’s history along with all the stories from its different parts.
@@jimthompson3422 I do have more to come. I'm happy that this video has reached so many Ohioans, and that most have appreciated the stories.
You couldn't handle my story.

If you think Ohio is bad.... Wait until you visit NJ, now that place is truly Hell.
From Northeast Ohio. My family members including both of my parents are buried at Erie Street Cemetery. Today happens to be 13 yrs since my mother passed. So naturally I was just there. There is a lot of history to the cemetery.
Wow😱 this video was remarkable!! The narrative did a superb job on telling the Tales Of Ohio!! It's fascinating how history can be retrace and illustrated in today times!! Providing us a more detail of events that took place back then!! Phenomenal Clip 🔥 and Thanks for Sharing!!🙏🏽💯🙏🏽
Only in Ohio 💀
McArthur Ohio, Absolutely beautiful here if you like untouched wilderness
Shhhhh... don't tell everyone!
That’s facts
I'm English and my Aunt and uncle were too ( both dead now) My uncle had a good job and was very smart so he got chosen to relocate to other countries one for awhile was Ohio.
My aunt was a terrible driver and drove into the back of a police car hehe The police were very nice about it So not all sickos in Ohio
Thank you
Ahh, the algorithm has been playing tricks on me; I was just going to say great to see you've posted after all this time but just seen that there have been four other videos I didn't know about. A great afternoon in store then. Brilliant to see you continuing to offer new and interesting stories. Thanks
YT notifications are utterly unreliable.
I like how the first shot is part of the city I pass by weekly. Lol 😂 I love the Cincinnati Toy Heritage Mural. It kicks ass!
No more Mud House Mansion. I Live 5 minutes away where used to be. The owner tore it down because too many people were breaking in and he didn't want to get Sued if someone got hurt.
Wow. We are really close. I live in New Lex. I remember mudhouse.
Im from Canton Ohio and its pretty scary here every day😂
Just a story to share.
Thanks Jannette. Yes, the British did that too. I mention one example in my first Thames Tales video.
Thank you Curious World for another excellently researched, produced and narrated programme. These are like little jewels, not often seen but always very much appreciated.
This was very well researched and presented!
Thank YOU 🙏🏼
Ohio is very familiar to me, so this was extra interesting 🤓!!
Anyone from Wapakoneta????!!!!
419!! Home of Neil Armstrong!!! I live and work right outside of Wapak and if your traveling up I-75, northbound right outside of Wapak, I work at the rest stop as groundskeeper and janitor. Stop on in and take a poop and say hello!! And make sure ya clog the toilet and throw all yer trash out because we love that!!!
Lol I got pulled over 2 times in 5 miles in a semi in Wapakoneta lol I wasn't driving just along for tye 5 hour stop lol
Dont forget about serpent mound the silver bridge the multiple deaths at kings island and the killing of dimebag darrell
And the Chase murders at the Medick Estate. Beautiful property, the gatehouse is still there.
@@elizabethr.110 yep for sure
Darrell was killed not two months after my birth and an hour away from my location. One of, if not my favorite guitarists of all time.
It's a shame and I wish he got better justice than the murderer being killed seconds after.
Born in Ross County not to far from Chillicothe. The town has a lot of history behind it and I love it here. :)
Tecumseh!
I lived in Chillicothe for 2 years but I didnt have the best experience trying to get a good job and making friends lol. Only moved there cause I met my gf on facebook and wanted to try something new haha
Is it Williams county? Sounds like you're describing the town I used to live in.
It's so good to see more content from you man!!
Thanks, Ben.
Canton used to known as Little Chicago due to all the mobsters that hung out or passed through.
Ya know what they say, "Only in Ohio."
As an Ohionian, I like knowing the world around me be screwy.
Yea!! LoL
I've lived in Ohio for 4 years now and it's astounding some of the tales, true crime, and history I have learned about this place and all by accident
Good to see you again man 👍
I completely missed your last two videos and I can see you got less views for them... Strange. I'll give them a watch too
I was raised in Defiance County, Ohio, just south of Willliams County and north of Paulding County which puts it between the two counties! It’s strange how the map shows Williams County swallowed Defiance County! Isn’t that creepy? 😮
I was born and raised in Youngstown Ohio and didn't realize all this was going on.
Probably because, if you heard in the video, all this stuff happened in the 1800s-1900s. So no shit you didn’t know it was “going on” because it all ALREADY HAPPENED in the past. people’s stupidity is astounding sometimes
This doesn't even scratch the surface.
It doesn't come close. There's 220 years of history. A lot has happened.
Your work ethics are admirable.
Why pyschos born in Ohio?
Cincinnati here
Ohio raised and corn fed here. Ohio has some great history some creepy history as well. Alot of strange stuff has happened here over the years. Let's not forget that the famous Bigfoot vocal call that all the documentaries and shows use came from the Berlin Lake area.. know as The Ohio Moan. I've done alot of adventuring and exploring in Ohio it has a lot of hidden and unknown gems. Grab yourself an ear of sweet corn slap some butter on it and let's go exploring y'all!!
Really, Im 10 min from Berlin lake, I've heard that out by Columbianna there has been strange things out there too
Pike/highland county is a hotspot for weird shit. I'm a Dayton native. Spend alot of time in pike county
@@brandondorsey5064 yes the Ohio moan was recorded in the Berlin lake area by the now famous Matt Moneymaker head of the BFRO. In fact if you look up the sightings by county in Ohio you will see that Stark County holds the highest number of bigfoot sightings
@@josephmiddleton4422 thanks for the info. I used to watch the show they had, I must of missed that episode.
I'll have to look into that
You have fun with that there is way worse in the woods than bigfoot
So glad you are back! I did wonder now and again when one of the best channels around would be back.
I live in Ohio and the amount of times I’ve watched true crime shows and the murder location is Ohio are too many to count. And it’s always horrific murders.
As an Ohioan, I can confirm Alex Carters statement
As his mother, I can confirm it creeped the heck out of me to see his name in the intro. He happened to walk into the room at that moment and we both stared at my tablet's screen in amused bemusement. Still, very creepy... Did I mention we live in Ohio?
Ohio is not creepier than any other place. I had to move South a while back (Tennessee) and I couldn't wait to get back. They say southern hospitality, more like slow and inept. It's booming here in Columbus. Now let me get back to drinking my pop..
I'm a Daytonian, born Dayton, Ohio from parents both from Tennessee and proud of it. Yes a lot of history here.
I'm born and raised Daytonian as well!
I used to live in the east side of Dayton
