A true American hero. Belle Vernon, PA is my "second" hometown. Proud that his friend was from there.

Ed passed in 2019 and was (no surprise) in good health but suffered a fall. Survived by his wife Maria and children!! Amazing story and what a memory and recall at 94!! Sorry to hear of the losses suffered when shot down…outlived his deceased crew members by 75 years!!

In these oral history interviews, it would be refreshing if the interviewer had done some advance preparation by reviewing the materials provided by the interviewee, and also had done some minimal homework by reading up on the general subject matter. I'm a jet fighter, attack, and recce pilot from the Vietnam and Cold War eras who has never flown strategic bombers, but I am much more generally knowledgeable about WWII European Theater bomber tactics and employment than this interviewer. It's painful to listen to the frequently inane questions he asks this B-17 pilot in a halting attempt to elicit his otherwise poignant and fascinating story. Oral histories of combat veterans are an extremely important aspect of recording experiences of past conflicts for the education of the American public and deserve the best possible intellectual interview process for the benefit of posterity. This is not remotely the best example of that! Pur intrepid and distinguished B-17 pilot demonstrated admirable patience and restraint in this lackluster interview.

At least we got to hear his story, I’ve seen a lot of interviews like this and usually it’s very smooth and professional even if they’re hard of hearing

The interviewer wasn’t good, unprepared. Was continually having to correct him.

Unfortunately many of these interviewers are not prepared
Some really really good stories out there but these interviewers can just about ruin them. One of them from Colorado got really rude and I would not blame the guy if he Had smack the interviewer.
He is doing it full-time by the way

He mentioned the 388 bomb squadron, that was my father's. He was a B-17 pilot and flew over 50 missions. I wished he lived as long as Mr. Davidson.

This interviewer let his own ego get in the way. It sucked. Should show more respect than trying to interject his own knowledge the entire time. Show more respect for this man

The typo in the title will make this difficult for people looking for B-17 info to find.

I feel this Gentleman was under integration at the Stu lag still . As if the interviewer knew the answer before he asked it . Under minding . Did not appreciate this approach at all . Be respectful to these Gentlemen at least
